Before our big game tomorrow I've been watching some old YouTube footage of the glory days and I was thinking it would be awesome to see what the Key Play thinks is our greatest plays that stick out in your mind. Mine is Jimmy Williams interception against Jason Campell in the orange bowl. Just the way he baited that throw and dove in front to snag it. Let's hear your guys!!!!

Michael Vick's run against WVU with time running out to set up Shayne Graham's game winning field goal.
At that point, we knew the Nat'l Championship game was in reach.
I'll never forget it. After WVU scored the go ahead I immediately went to my room and put my head in my hands. Probably sat there a good...long...60 seconds. Then had to go back to the living room to watch the end.
Then Stith makes a bad decision and tries to return that kick...probably with the fumble in the back of his head.
Then Vick became VICK
Oh....then one of the all time leading scores in NFL history nailed a FG at the buzzer to win.
What a team.
I was watching at a friend's apartment. The ENTIRE town of Blacksburg erupted at the same time when Graham hit the field goal. It was glorious.

I love topics like this, so I'm gonna break it down...
Best Pass: Tyrod to Danny Coale vs Nebraska.
Best Run: Logan Thomas' TD run vs Da U in 2011.
Best hit: DJ Coles had a massive blind side block on a LOLUVA LB in 2011.
Best defensive play: Too many to choose from, but I'll go with Deangelo Hall's strip of Roscoe Parrish...or Cody Grimm chasing down and stripping Roy Upchurch in 2009 vs Bama.
Best Beamerball moment: Either Vinnie Fuller's blocked kick return for a TD vs WVU in 2004....or Eddie Royal's punt return TD vs Clemson in 2007.
These ones...
But in all seriousness, there have been so many that still give me chills. Coale vs Nebraska, 4th & Logan, DW4 vs GT, but I have to wonder if we would have been on the map for all of these guys if they didn't grow up seeing Vick eviscerate defenses.
One that will definitely go unmentioned, however, was from the first win against UVA in 1905. Caius Hunter Carpenter had played 5 seasons for Tech (rules were a little different back then, plus he started playing when he was 15), then played at UNC, who had a more established team at the time, due to his intense desire to beat UVA. After losing 12-11 with UNC, he came back to the good guys for one last shot at the Hoos. The following is from Doug Doughty and Roland Lazenby's book 'Hoo's and Hokies: Tech had built an 11-0 lead, when late in the game Carpenter broke loose on a long run. The Wahoo who had slugged Carpenter several times earlier grabbed the Tech back by the neck and took another swing. Carpenter stopped, decked his opponent, tossed the ball into the crowd and left the field one step ahead of the official's ejection whistle.
The good guys won, UVA ran away with their tails between their legs and refused to play us for 17 years, and the fans in attendance got to witness the first known "mic drop".

You guys have really nailed everything so far, but another one I loved is when Tyrod posed with his hand behind his head in the 2009 Orange Bowl as he stuck the ball over the pylon for a TD.
Of course "GIVE IT TO ME, ROSCOE!"
But I was reminiscing on this play too... a great LOLMIAMI moment, even though the possession didn't end so hot.
Going offensive with this one... I was at this game and distinctly remember the stadium announcer getting ready to call the play... but it wasn't over...
Running trick plays up 28... One of many, many reasons why I hated Miami and always will. Not all of them were bad, but on average they were just the worst of the worst when it came to college football.
Lots of great ones mentioned. I loved this one (and was there to see it live)... Keion Carpenter INT against Miami in 1996. Alas, I can find no video of it but Keion took it back 100 yard to give VT the 21-7 final score.

Corey Moore fumble-sack, scoop, and score vs Clemson in '99. The stadium went absolutely nuts after that.
Corey Moore actually had two plays in that game within a minute of each other that resulted in defensive TDs to close out the game for a 31-11 victory.
TD #1 (Moore hits QB and Ike Charlton takes Int. to the endzone)
TD #2 (Moore's strip, scoop, and score)
I always say that's the game when Corey Moore beat Clemson.
1995 - Jim Druckenmiller freezes 2 UVA DB's with pump fake and then hits Jermaine(?) Holmes in the end zone to complete "the greatest comeback I have ever seen" - Bill Roth (sigh).
That is correct. That play 1995 we beat UVA and that was their best team . They had beaten #1 FSU earlier and VT was trying to get respect in Football. We had trouble recruiting against them . That is when we started 10 wins and made the big step to the next level and that play is the moment in time that everything changed . The greatest win in VT history the win that changed the program we would go on to beat Texas in the Sugar bowl . We have had some great plays wins ect. but that 1 play is the one that stands out over all the others the struggles of being independent having difficulty scheduling ect. We had been on the outside looking in and that is when everything changed and it has been a great ride since . The win at OSU is the biggest win ever I doubt that there are many teams that could ever say they beat the National Champs on their home field in the year they won the Title someone should look that up but I bet it is a rare occurrence

It's not that rare.
That's pretty rare, 5 times in 15 years ,so if they average 7 home games that is 5-100 only 5 wins vs 105 tries .
