Jump by jump to Enter Sandman, Hokie Nation welcomed the Virginia Tech football team into Lane Stadium on Labor Day night. Even though Tech ultimately fell to the Buckeyes 42-24, this was a magical moment before the game.
The first video was recorded on the field, the second is the ESPN broadcast.
Even ESPN's Rece Davis and David Pollack got into the action.

We also measured on the Richter scale
Three separate times
Not doubting you at all. I know it was loud. I was in section 4. But how does one find out that we were on the Richter scale? Ive always wondered that. Maybe its a dumb question haha
That is suspicious, 2100 is 9pm, the entrance was before that yet the largest mark is at 9:30 mark. Is there any non redditt source?
maybe where the time is it's GMT and where the line is is eastern??? That would line up pretty close to the correct times.
I believe the time reads vertically, then left to right. USGS replied to this tweet:
saying thanks for the shout-out. It's legit.
FYI sound waves do not travel at the speed of light, and depending on seismometer locations, it could take a while to reach them.
Just beautiful.
We were in section 13.
During the entrance but also a few other times, it was so loud, I started just hearing white noise.
I did not realize until watching these videos that there were fireworks behind the scoreboard.
Good job to the fans in the stands.
Lane Stadium is amazing.
I cannot figure out how VT is 3-7 in their last 10 home games with this crowd behind them. Especially since it seems like over the last couple of years, they've been better away from home than they have been at home.
crowd noise is great, an offensive line and running game is more effective at winning games. Keeps the defense off the field, wears down their D. Had been missing that lately.
I get that, crowds don't win games. I just think it's odd how Tech has played better on the road.
Like last year VT had the #1 scoring defense in road/neutral games

but #53 scoring defense in home games

It's weird, right?
Yup. The Terrordome is just a myth right now. It's sad really. Hopefully it'll come back soon.
The Terrordome is just a myth right now.
hey i know the guy on the right in the top photo
I was blessed to be on the balcony outside the president's box, then watching again on ESPN, that entrance was OFF THE HOOK! Definitely did a lot to demonstrate our fantastic. The student section was strong ALL game. In defeat, I found it a proud night for Hokie Nation!
Sigh.
I finally made it back to Fud cental (AKA Tyson's Corner) this evening, just before rush hour, thank god. My 4 hour drive, 3 mint skoal dips, two tickets from VAs finest highway patrolmen (speeding and illegal tint... asshole) later... I was thinking to myself what a terrible way start to the season.
This post (and obviously looking back on the game now) is what makes the trip worth while and what makes me proud to be a Hokie. The moments last night in the stadium: entersandman, our go ahead TD, the crowd sticking it out and drowningout(nearly) every chant OSU started... this is what separates our fanbase from one like anOSU. There is no mention on our boards of firing anyone, or how the season is ruined by 1 game. It is a bunch of fans thinking about how we can improve, how great our fan base is, and let's move forward. My favorite part about these clips is Rece's (and ESPNs) excitement. Fowler was great to the Hokies as we were to him. On college gameday, Fowler once again gave us props for making Gameday what it is, and there is nothing better than being in someone's signing off speech. Let's remember that this was one game and we have a lot more (as a fan base) to be proud of than a 0-1 record.
We have a lot to be excited about for this year and our future in the ACC. I am looking forward to the day when we have the chance to be 2-1 against an OSU. We are heading back in the right direction with recruiting, coaching, and hunger. I will be back down to at least 2 more home games this year (and GT on the road). To the woman in the West stands who continually asked for me to sit down on offense as the rest of the stadium stood, I apologize, but not really.
Fud's Miller Lite speech signing off.
I travel once a year at a minimum for enter sandman because it is Hokie awesomeness! Love the tailgating (even 7am tequila shots) and more importantly the actual game. However, the entrance is so electric it is worth the price of admission by itself.
This! I always tell people that the best part of Lane games happens before kickoff, regardless of who's playing.
Filmed it from the NEZ, my phone tried admirably to keep up but couldn't quite do it. Also, the video stabilization feature on Youtube is pretty neat.
I dont see how anyone made any noise as they were all too worried about video taping it with their phones.
This is hilarious given the preceding post
I was standing in North next to 5 girls who had made the trip from Columbus, no idea how they got the tickets but they were nice all game. Before we started the "Let's Go" chant they had fired off Skipper then showed some pump-up videos. The energy was tangible, and as the anticipation for the "Let's Go Hokies" and Enter Sandman was reaching a breaking point I turned to the OSU girl next to me and started screaming at her "YOU DON'T GET IT! YOU DON'T GET IT! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! YOU'RE ABOUT TO SEE! LET'S GO!" I looked over at her and her friends during Enter Sandman and after the entrance was over, they weren't shocked but all of them had a look on their faces like "whoa, what just happened?" OSU may have dominated the second half, but I think the defeat last year, combined with the energy in Lane, made them legitimately worried when we went on a 17-0 run, because we made a lasting impression on one of the greatest programs in history that we're not to be messed with.
They were late exiting the tunnel. Normally they come out right after the build into the main riff and first verse.
Still bad ass.
Here is the 2015 HokieVision Intro Video
Ohio State graduate, but former Tech student here.
Made the trip & saw campus for the first time since 1999. Stadium & campus looked great.
Posting the ESPN3 Skycam feed of "Enter Sandman" in case this hadn't made the rounds yet... enjoy & good luck the rest of the way... see you in the playoffs :)

cool espn3 skycam look.. except the fact that they zoomed/moved over to the OSU section and stayed there until 3/4ths the VT team had come out.. was this game even at LANE?
