With Brewer out, will we see more jumbo formations(2 & 3 tight end sets) in the next few weeks? I don't know if it's practical to transform our offensive personality, but it almost seems necessary given Brewer's injury.
On the plus side, it seems we've got the personnel(Rogers, Malleck/Hodges/Cline, JCC/Shai/etc) to go jumbo. That may complement Motley's skill set(and/or Durkin or Lawson, for that matter). We run a lot more, mix in some passes to the TE's and the occasional downfield pass to Ford to keep the defense honest.
We've got a couple of games against not nearly as tough opponents to work out the kinks. Then, East Carolina and Pitt still scare me, even though Pitt has lost Conner for the season and the ECU QB is raw. We may not get Brewer back til the GT game, which means we'd have to find a way to beat 5 ACC opponents(Miami among them).
There have been times, albeit in the distant past, when we could run the ball effectively even in situations when our opponent knew we were going to run the ball. Perhaps with our Oline this year, and a few healthy RBs, we can get back to that.

I think with Motley being a dual threat qb, along with all the remaining backups being dual threat too, we should probably start chop blocking and running the triple option. We just need Loeffler to channel his inner Paul Johnson.

It would be a serious long term mistake to completely change the offense this year. This program needs stability and it needs to be running the offense these kids have trained the last few years to run. If Motley cannot run the offense we were going to run under Brewer, he should not be our QB going forward.
And that would be on Loeffler and Beamer. The I hope method of I hope our QB doesn't get hurt is a dangerous game to play. See UCLA 2013.

I am taking the "wait and see" approach on this one. I have no idea what the OC might have planned.
I honestly didn't think the entire playbook was opened up vs OSU. Seen alot of the same formations and the same plays. Being a pro style offense, especially with the positions we are strong at, I'd say we do have some power sets. Maybe Scot just didn't think it would work well vs OSU. I'm not sure of the exact number but I remember us going under center possibly twice when we were outside of the red zone.
I say we leave it alone for the most part. Maybe there are a few pages in the playbook that you move to the back of the binder, but Motley has practiced the same plays as Brewer throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Maybe not with the 1st team but I feel that he knows what he is supposed to do. I truly feel he had an "oh crap" moment when he saw Brewer laying on the turf holding his arm and it got to him. Bring him out against Furman and don't hold anything back, we may not be as bad off as we think.

I would expect a lot more easy throws against Furman for Motley. I don't think we saw a single WR screen against OSU but I am sure we will see some early next week just to get Motley some confidence and comfortable. I would like to see us run the ball effectively early and get a lead and then come out throwing like crazy just to get Motley game reps and more experience but that would be the wish for every game.
Any coach at the college level knows that you DO NOT change up the identity of the offense from week to week. Changing schemes may look good on paper, but the install process would take too long and not be thorough.
This is only my opinion, but I'm sure that the staff have gone over a "what if" scenario during the off-season about what should be done in this particular situation. The coaches will put the best QB out there based off of hours of training & film evaluation. I'm looking forward to seeing a star emerge out of this situation.
Really, we're more likely to keep things about the same, just expanding the package that Motley was already going to run. He'll be asked to do a lot more than he did against OSU, but I don't think he'll be asked to do as much as Brewer can.
So with Brewer/Motley/Durkin/Lawson, Sam MF Rogers, Bucky, and McMillan we had/will have four QB's in the backfield. It's obvious from here on out what we are supposed do.
