One of my buddies got married 6 years ago today, during the Nebraska game. I had to catch the fourth quarter on ESPN360 between the reception and first afterparty.
Yep. I was best man in a wedding during the Nebraska game. There are definitely pictures of me standing with the groom and the rest of the groomsmen with an expression on my face that reads "I really just want to check my damn phone right now."
I was at a buddy's wedding during the Ohio State game last year. The reception was outside, and I kept wandering off to watch the game on my phone for a few minutes at a time. Luckily we made it back to the hotel to watch the last bit of the game.

Ya, I don't get the love for Purdue. You D should be able to stifle their offense and your QB should deb settling into a rhythm an you have some good weapons of him to work with. I see you guys by 10 - 14 pts. Beamer may be a bit conservative just to avoid early mistakes and establish his game then open it up.

I like the way the offensive line is playing and we've got a ton of ball carriers so I'd expect us to run a lot. Last 3 years Purdue's been 92nd, 122th and 85th in yards per rush allowed, so I don't know how they'd be able to stop us on the ground.
And how is Purdue going to hurt us from an offensive standpoint? Does Brees, Orton or Painter have any eligibility left? Joe Tiller making a comeback?
Tough to go on the road to win against a Power 5 opponent, but I don't really see why Purdue +6 would be a popular pick. But Scott Van Pelt picked Purdue +6 as well and he went 5-0 last week, I believe. Maybe this could be Purdue's coming out party.

Purdue's DL is good, and although Motley looks vastly improved it will still be the biggest test of his career, more than OSU because we're expected to win this game.
Thanks to a certain...6-3 loss, and a certain picture that haunts my dreams, I can't say with confidence that we will win even though they are basement dwellers. With that said our D should hold up and our O is healthier than during 'that game', so I think we'll pull it off.

The O-line is healthy. The left-side of the line will be nasty. VT will "run away" with this game. Motley only needs to hit a few intermediate routes to keep the safeties out of the box.
The score will be fairly close, but the game itself won't be close.

Last time there was a major bust in picking up a rusher, we lost our leader. This time resulted in a sack, fumble, and TD. The line has looked better as a whole this year, but their mistakes have been costly.

It might be partially true, but I think it's more indecisiveness. Alabama has always had an embarrassment of riches at the RB position and you typically see one back getting the bulk of the carries.
It's really upsetting that without stupid mistakes this game could have been 31-10 at the half, possibly even 31-3.
Aside from the penalties, the offense has looked pretty sharp. Defense is great, aside from the couple of big plays they gave up, and those are just going to happen with the style of defense we play. If we can limit it to 2-3 plays a game then we'll be fine.

The Mike position makes most of the calls on defense, so it's fair to call the Mike the QB of the defense. Not in the sense that he's the star player or the absolute leader, but in terms of responsibility, Bud's scheme requires a very heady guy at Mike.

If we are going to play Lawson can we please make these snaps meaningful? Runs on 1st and 2nd down aren't really going to help much for his development. Let him run a passing offense this quarter.
My thoughts as well. Run the real offense for valuable reps.
I personally love that approach. He's been sitting on the bench all day. Let him get hit and get into the flow of the game, let the nerves settle a bit, and then open things up later. That's a good way to get things going for a young QB.

Last time Lawson tried to hand it off he ran into the runner. I'm perfectly fine with Beamer putting his QB in who he knows can actually run the offense and make damn sure nothing crazy happens. 5 minutes can seem like an eternity real quick.

I'm gonna keep defending this for some reason. Did he look particularly great with 3/4 of the plays he ran? No. So why do we want him to do more things when he already doesn't do the basics that well? Isn't that what people have been pissed about with the offense in general for the past decade? This isn't the time to get him comfortable with the whole playbook. This is the time to get him comfortable being on the field and playing football for real. The playbook will come later. It's only week 3 after all.
I'm with you on this. Motley needs the reps more than Lawson right now. Motley has to run this offense and run it well and while there's definitely been improvement, I don't think it's enough to let Lawson take all the snaps in this situation.
And he needed to work on taking those snaps. Too many bobbled snaps today.

The more I think about this, the more I buy into the "Frank sending a message" idea after the onsides kick. And TBH, I kinda like the notion of Frank saying, "Okay motherfucker, you wanna pretend like this is still a game? Here's my started back."

Here's what I garnered from the radio broadcast:
Lots of penalties. Sounded like we were killing ourselves. Announcers talked about it a number of times.
The announcers sounded positive about Motley, but the people I was texting with thought Motley looked bad and the Lawson drive(s) were sloppy.
It sounded like we were free to do whatever we wanted on offense, but it also sounded like the defense wasn't playing particularly well in the first half.

IMO, Motley looked very good. Not Furman third quarter good, but really good. Had issues handling the snap a few times, and was not aware of blind side pressure. Has room to improve. But I mean, jeeze, he completed over 60% of his passes with a YPA of a hair under 10. 2 TDs, no INTs. How much can you ask for?
I'm looking for numbers like I think Leal would have. 101% completion rate with an average yards per completion of 101, infinity touchdowns, and negative interceptions.
