Virginia Tech at East Carolina, was placed on a six-day hold by the American Athletic Conference. The kickoff time will be announced no later than Sunday, September 20. On September 19, the AAC announced the game will kickoff at 3:30 PM.

So if they beat Navy and we take care of business @Purdue we might get a 330 kick?
I have a feeling it is probably more dependent on different games since neither team would be ranked for us anyways.
It seems the noon start is on CBSSports and the 3:30 is on ESPN2. This is an AAC broadcast since it is in their stadium, so I'm not sure which of those broadcasts ranks higher. it might be the CBSSports slot since they seem to hold the primary rights for AAC. Maybe?
Looks like they are holding out Navy/UCONN and VT/ECU, so it does seem the winner of the ECU/Navy game gets the better slot. Just not sure which slot is "better" based on TV pecking order.
I think ESPN and ABC are also in the mix for 3:30.
Oklahoma State at Texas and Western Michigan at Ohio State both indicate a 3:30 with ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 option. The third game in that slot would have to be the one that CBSSN doesn't get.
Now, I think one of those two games will get ABC -- either OSU as #1, or Texas in a conference game.
VT and ECU aren't going to be on ABC.
But , but, it's a rivalry game.
That down arrow never looked so sexy... :(
That will be true for part of the country.
They play Navy before us? Didn't they hear no one can beat us if they have to play Navy the week before?
Even though I like having later games, I kinda also like having Tech play at noon with all of the boring games so I don't miss any of the 3:30 action.
I agree too. I can hunt the mornings, go watch the game and get back in the woods for the evening hunt through the fall.
In a sick way, I kind of enjoyed the nooners since we would show up at the bars at 10am and the staff started to feel bad for us and give us a complimentary Bloody Mary when we arrive.
Somethings never change... ECU... Noon Games...
I've got free tickets and a sweet tailgate/game time window if this is a nooner. So yes please. Nooner.
ECU SHOULD ALWAYS BE AT NOON JUST TO PUNISH US FOR DOING THIS TO OURSELVES.
This is what some would call a "FACT".
VT has cursed themselves in the noon slot, fans HATE IT but we still watch on TV in huge numbers and make the noon time slot attractive to the TV networks.
TSL did an article on that last year I believe and pointed out how VT leads in the numbers when games are at noon. Ugghhh....sucks.
Well, seriously, would you want to watch Iowa again?
Or Wake. In lo-def.

My Hawkeye wife would.
We watched the Pitt/Iowa game Sat. evening. It was actually a pretty good game. Tyler Boyd is a dude.
When I'm on the Eastern seaboard, I'm not a fan of the noon starts, either.
But while in West Africa, where we're 4 hours ahead of Eastern time, noon Eastern works out nicely.
Hey 3:30 isn't too bad either...Prime Time baby
Yeah here in Asia noon starts are 10pm and 3:30 starts are at 1:30am. I kind of wish it was a noon start...
don't complain, here in China noon is at midnight and 3:30 starts at 3:30 am. the worst time ever.
Noon might not be such a bad thing. Less time for the Pirate fans to tailgate equals a quieter stadium. That is positive for our QB(s) still gaining experience. Considering we have had a prime time game followed by two 3:30 games I think I can stomach a nooner in this situation. Save the later kickoffs for conference play.
This. The earlier, the better for the visiting team and vice versa.
Not so sure I agree with this. Chestnut Hill is an extremely difficult place to play (look at us, FSU on Friday, USC last year). Some have said it is at least in part due to BC students not showing up, and the quiet stadium. I've heard players say they feed off the energy, good or bad. That said, extremely loud or intimidating stadiums would be obvious exceptions, but not sure we need to worry about that with the Pirates.
The solution to that is to take the trip to chestnut hill to cheer on the hokies. Bc shuttles the fans in from the tailgating area on school buses as there is no parking or tailgating on the bc campus.
I have fond memories of doing the let's go- hokies chant across the bc stadium.
I went there for a game a few years back and we parked on the baseball field.
Plot twist: you were there for a baseball game.
Noon games should be abolished entirely. Just the worst.
So last year, I was sitting on a soccer field in the middle of BFE watching 7 year olds kick a ball around aimlessly while increasing my stroke risk by 15x by watching the VT/ECU debacle on GameDay on ESPN. It was miserable, we were down 21 points before snack time, then I had 30+ minutes to drive through bad radio land to get back home.
I'm scheduled to be at that same field from noon until 1:30 or later that saturday. Do not let it be a noon game. It's inhumane.
See www.RentADad/atheticevent
For $50 you can hire/schedule an athletic type guy of your own age to take your place. I think that cheering and encouragement is an extra $10.
Cannot remember the last time we had a non-noon kick against ECU
It was 2011...I was at the fall Richmond race, and the game was 3:30 on the Fox Sports regional channel, but the stupid Iowa/Iowa State game was running long, and they wouldn't cut away, so we missed the first quarter.
Karma got the Cyhawks back last year, when we were the noon game, and they were the 3:30, but we had the game that wouldn't end.
I remember bits and pieces from that day. I had a rugby game and ended up taking a head across my face during a run. Broke my nose, felt a bit concussed, whatevs. Stayed in the game. I got home and there were about a dozen people in my apartment to watch the VT/ECU game. When I walked in, one of my friends said it looked like I had been in a car accident - blood everywhere, nose all crooked - but I just came in and sat down. At one point, I asked if anyone would take me to the hospital, since I was pretty sure my nose was broken and I had a concussion.... no one moved or said a thing. To this day, I'm not sure whether to be angry at my friends or proud that Hokie football meant that much to them. About 5 minutes later, I tried again and a guy I didn't know well said he'd drive me if I could use my car. That guy is now one of my best friends and most of this story I remember from him telling it. We got to the hospital and I saw the game on again - all I remember is David Wilson ripping off a crazy run - and I also remember seeing one of my teammates. We bonded over the fact that we were both there for broken noses and concussions, and my friend who drove me there decided at that point that he would never play rugby.
So yeah, that was an interesting day.

A little bit of both.
Broken nose support group! My story, quick version: was an RA at Tech. I would "challenge" other RA's and their hall mates to tackle football matches on the drill field. Senior year, collided heads with one big dude. Blood everywhere. 3 surgeries later, a deviated septum and too much scare tissue to mess with again. Broken noses "stink".
Looks like we have 3:30 on an ESPN channel.
Hey, we're not playing ECU at noon!
Another productive morning next week for me!
Dammit...
Needed this to be a nooner so I could catch it. Have a wedding to attend later that day for someone who really should know better.
Wow, now we're complaining about games not being nooners. /s
I know, right?
4 games in and not one before 3... This year is crazy
Two more primetime guarantees, so we're already at half of our schedule not at noon.
The real problem here is the fall wedding
The real problem here is playing ECU.
Seconded. I'll miss the 4th quarter while I'm at my grandfather's 90th birthday party. Just like I missed Purdue yesterday because of my father in law's 60th birthday. Luckily, I got listen to the first half on the radio because I was returning the aerator I rented as slooooooowly as possible, showing up an hour late, earning a dirty look from my wife.
Whoever said having family was a good thing? They keep screwing with my football schedule.
My kids were invited to a birthday party at Chuck e cheese yesterday at 3pm. ...I showed up at 445. (That's about when we put the game away and fans started leaving at the end of the third)
No regrets.
Really??!! No regrets. Not even one little letter?
Nah! Know'm sayin?
I'm attending a wedding, too. The ceremony is at 3:00, so I won't be able to watch at all since the reception will be during the game.
Was hoping for a nooner so we could put them away before the ceremony.
Same boat here. Wedding at 4 in Blacksburg. Was hoping for a nooner so I could catch first half at PKs.
What kind of wedding establishment in Blacksburg is open on a game day?
My wife and I planned an August wedding so we would be back from the honeymoon in time for the season premiere.
Two legs: one for you, one for your wife.
Remember it's an away game, so nothing going on in Blacksburg except game watching. I'm loving the fact that my employer gave me a cellular enabled iPad with unlimited data.......for "work."
Home and Away just designate how much traffic there is in town. No non-football commitments allowed! :)
Tell me about it!
this feels like some kind of record or something, 4 weeks into the season and no noon kickoffs yet
Undefeated at 3:30 this year.
Undefeated in all of the Saturdays timeslots. ;)
Considering I now live in Colorado and have class until 2 pm MST on Saturdays, I love the 3:30 EST kick-offs. Keep em coming.
The Pitt game will be at like 10 AM now to punish us for making it 4 games into the season without a noon game.
I've got a noon flight that day so I'd at least be able to catch part of the game if it's a 10 AM start. That works.
Total coincidence that VT shows signs of having a watchable offense and gets a 3:30 kickoff, right?
I dunno. We've been ranked with back-to-back noon games previously.
This is good news. I am flying out to Cali Saturday AM for work, but have the afternoon off. I land at 11 AM local time, so I should be able to check in at my hotel and find a bar nearby to watch.
Any TKP Hokies in the Anaheim Convention/Disney area have any recommendations on where to watch the game or want to meet up? I know the OC Hokie Club meets out in Newport Beach for games, but Google says that is a 35 min cab ride, so I don't think that will work.
Any TKP members in the Ft Bliss El Paso area watching the game somewhere?? I'll be there for about 2 weeks.
Ugh I have a wedding to go to that starts at five, and the worst part is both the bride and groom are Hokies! I guess they won't be too upset if I am streaming it on my phone during the nuptials, right?
As long as you keep them updated with the score, you should be good.
Make sure you wear headphones so no one gets an context when you cheer.
"You may now kiss the bride."
(from the guest seating) Stick it in, stick it in, stick it in!
They couldn't have at least planned it for the Thursday game, Friday game or bye week?? poor form.
