Could the Hokies Land All-World Athlete Stefon Diggs?

Editor's Note: Bumped to the front. What do you guys think?

Good Counsel star Stefon Diggs, along with teammate and fellow Virginia Tech offer RB Wes Brown and three others, visited the Hokies this past Saturday during the Hokies' one-day recruiting camp.  If Diggs' comments after the visit are any indication, he has begun to sense the magic around Blacksburg and the football program.

From The Washington Post:

One question that remains is the Hokies’ ability to land the nation’s top talent. According to Rivals.com, the last five-star prospect to commit to Virginia Tech was former quarterback Tyrod Taylor in 2006, and none of the Hokies’ 2012 commitments have earned the distinction either.

Even that, though, could be changing.

Also in attendance Saturday was Good Counsel senior wide receiver Stefon Diggs, considered by every major recruiting service to be one of the country’s top 10 prospects this year. By the time afternoon football drills were getting underway, Diggs was already convinced Virginia Tech would be one of his top choices when he makes a college decision.

“They’re on the rise for the national championship. I can sense it,” said Diggs, who added he’ll “definitely” be back this fall for an official visit with his mother. “Other people sense it, too. That’s why they’re committing here. They want to be a part of it.”

There is little doubt that Diggs would play early and often in Blacksburg.  Jarrett Boykin, Dyrell Roberts, and Danny Coale will graduate after the 2011 season, with Marcus Davis, DJ Coles, and Corey Fuller a year behind them.  Even WITH the current receiving corps, it would be hard to keep the #1 Athlete (according to ESPN) in the country off the field.  With a 6'7" gunslinger that can both see and stretch the field, what better weapon than a speedy playmaker that he can't overthrow?  Diggs would also almost certainly take the torch as the next superstar return man for Frank Beamer's special teams unit.  Even Diggs' friend and teammate Brown could join in on the fun, as the power compliment to scatback commit JC Coleman.
