It's amazing because VT was the favorite in all 6 of those games. Pitt is such a thorn in VT's side.
I used to think that way too. Now I think we're a thorn in our own side.
It seems like the Hokies fall into a funk with certain teams. Every season I don't think: "oh, we're gonna lose 3-4 games this year."
I think: "oh, we're going to lose to ECU, Boston College, Pittsburgh and one other team."
Sigh.
We used to own BC until they became more physical than us.
This statement says a lot. And it's sad.
Addazio may be our head coach in a couple of months. If that's the case, we won't be talking national championship, but we will be the most physical team on everyone's schedule.
Unless Whit forces him out, I doubt Beamer goes anywhere until after next year.
If we don't win 8 games, Frank Beamer will not be the HC at VT next year.
I respect your opinion. But I disagree.
Edit: I'm not sticking up for Beamer or calling for his job. I would just be surprised to see him leave after this year.
I can see pros and cons to the following idea: if we underperform this year, there is an announcement made that 2016 is Frank's last, and he gets a graceful exit. Conventional wisdom is that 2016 has been setting up as the year Frank hangs it up. If 2015 is bad, I think Whit stands to gain more by eliminating speculation and branding the year as the farewell tour.
Two thoughts on that:
A one year Jeter Tour is only good for college football coaches if you are hiring from within. Otherwise, it wrecks recruiting for yet another year. See Bo Ryan this year. The coaching speculation would be a nightmare.
Secondly, whit was clear that he has expectations greater than last year and he will be watching recruiting closely. This Exhibition Season comment, the fines, a few players with legal trouble. Beamer is on thin ice, he better win some games.
I always thought the Bristol game was the goal, I just don't think he gets there.
I don't think Beamer is gone until after next season #battleatbristol. That being said, I would like very much to have addazio as head coach. I like his attitude and I love how hard nosed and tough his teams are
1. I don't think Beamer is done after this year. Probably next. Possibly 2017. I don't think he'll be our coach in 2018
2. I would love it if we got Addazio to pair with Foster, and he's already worked with Loeffler at Florida. Perfect attitude for our team.
I find it highly unlikely that we'll retain even one coordinator under a new HC, let alone two. If Addazio, or anyone else for that matter, is hired at VT I'm almost certain they will bring in their own personnel. I love Bud and I'm starting to come around a little with Loeffler but honestly I think it would be best if we make a wholesale change to the coaching staff. That's the only way I think we can successfully revamp the culture here. I think the culture change is what this organization needs.

While not exactly the loluva type rivalry they have beaten when we had a pulse or at least thought we had a pulse.
2 things:
1. Thank goodness we have someone talking trash to us. For the love of goodness we need bulletin board material.
2. All the PSU folks up here are pulling for us like you wouldn't believe. We hate Putt. They hate Putt. Yeah I said it. Fick Putt.

You should. Stroman will be back to playing nickel, the position he practices, and not boundary corner.
I bet Foster and Co. are working on some serious modifications to address shortcomings.
Bud is not one to rest on his laurels.
Neither is Tyler Boyd. He's going to give us problems, I'm afraid. Unless we can mask our perceived shortcomings in the secondary by getting pressure on the qb, which we haven't done much of this year, it could be a long day of just throwing it up to Tyler Boyd. That trail technique worries me against a WR with the talent of Boyd. Hopefully I'm dead wrong.
