Horsecollar tackle sprains Tyrod's MCL - could be out a while

Bills sign Josh Johnson on heels of news

Initial reports are saying Tyrod will be out multiple weeks. They're grooming EJ Manuel to start this weekend, and signed Johnson to take over as backup throughout.

And just for those who are curious, a MCL sprain is still bad news. Here in Raleigh, Cam Ward, the Hurricanes goalie sprained his MCL a couple years ago and missed 2 months. Not good

Yeah... I am in 3 leagues this year....

He's my starter in each

I can hardly believe I just picked up Sam Bradford on waivers because I don't want to have to start Peyton Manning.

Snagged Palmer in week 2 (not sure why he was still there) glad I did it now. Manning is just...sad.

I actually dropped Palmer in the preseason for Tyrod. Wasn't a tough call at the time. :D

Shit, now I have to start Andrew Luck.

Every second counts

I'll take things I thought I'd never say for $1,000 Alex.

Ummm, Life long Colts Fan here! Luck coming off two weeks hurt, poor o-line play, and New England coming to town with a chip on their shoulders, yea not a great choice there.

3 QB's on the cheap to consider for this weekend (if available) :
1) Blake Bortles ( don't laugh, playing Houston, Julian Thomas is back and has throw for more the 250yrd and 9 TD's last 4 games)
2)Colin Kaep (Playing Baltimore's terrible defense, avg 278yrds allows passing 8th worst pass Defense, two new DB's picked up this week off the street)
3) Josh McCown (7 TD's, 1 Int, over 325yds passing past 3 games, 457 against Ravens, but playing Denver's defense)

Thanks mucho for the advice.

and I'm off to the waiver wire with this note

I told him I’d crawl on my hands and knees to be the DL coach at Virginia Tech. Now, all of a sudden, I’m sitting in this chair and I told him I’d still crawl on my hands and knees to work here. I just want to be here.
JC Price

I almost traded Philip Rivers for him last week, but I changed my mind at the last minute. Looks like I dodged a bullet.

Though, if Manuel plays I have to decide whether I want to play Watkins or not. Winston is already ruining Mike Evans for me, now I'll have another crappy FSU QB devaluing another one of my WRs...

Deposit whiskey, receive wisdom.

You literally just ruined my day/week/month/year.

He was the bright spot of this football season, this is a crushing blow to me :-^(

WHERES THE GUY WHO HORSE COLLARED HIM?!?!

Probably not a coincidence that he went to UNC

Good choice. I still can't believe that thought entered your head!

I had a specific scene in mind, but couldn't find a gif of it...

This was a blatant horse collar, and while I'm sure Zach Brown didn't mean to hurt Tyrod, the fact of the matter is, he did. Hopefully he gets fined for the tackle, although I'm sure it won't reflect the amount of money he may have cost Tyrod in incentive bonuses.

... and he probably won't even send me a plastic fantasy football trophy, which he may have just cost me.

although I'm sure it won't reflect the amount of money he may have cost Tyrod in incentive bonuses.

If Tyrod doesn't have a policy on those bonuses, it's his own fault. I'm sure he does, unless his agent and financial advisers are absolute idiots.

"What are you going to do, stab me? - Quote from Man Stabbed

The Bills are about to realize how terrible Manuel is and how good Tyrod is.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Dammit. Dammit for Tyrod first and foremost. That Bills offense is NOTHING without him, and they are about to realize it.

Secondly dammit for my fantasy football team. One of my big money leagues goes with 2 QBs and 3 WRS in the starting lineup. I went the route of Antonio Brown/Julio Jones/ Randall Cobb as my first 3. Tyrod has started for me the last 3 weeks. I did just pick up McCown from the Browns though (as a FA!), so hope he can stay hot. Tyrod's legs took me to 4-1 (not unlike his work for the good guys).

I read a report that the extent of the injury wasn't certain yet, so we may not be talking months right now. Don't panic yet.

Per rotoworld:

Horse collar to the MCL? You're doing it wrong. /s

It really does seem like this guy only posts these kind of messages recently.

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

FUCK! Fuck dammit! You know, just fucking ONCE I would love the headline to read Matty Ryan, Brady or Brees out for 2 mos instead of a former Tech QB. FUCK DAMMIT!!!

Running QB's get injured. Just a fact of life in the NFL.

Eh, all QBs get injured in the NFL these days.

Unless you consider, Rothliesberger, Luck, Romo, Brees, etc running QBs. I look back on Michael Vick's time with the Eagles, nearly every injury that cost him time occured while he was standing in the pocket.

Damn it. I got an uneasy feeling yesterday when I saw they had signed that Johnson guy...

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

How long does it typically take to recover/heal from an MCL? How long is he most likely to be out? I'm worried that this will effectively send Tyrod back to backup status.

The other thing that really pissed me off was that some fuckhead left the comment "Good because he sucks" in reaction to the news. Seriously, WTF!?

And then there's this
Ryan not ruling Tyrod out

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

All this tells me is that Rex has zero faith in Manuel.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Tyrod confined to the pocket with a knee brace or something is still exponentially better than their other options. Wouldn't be a bad idea if they could reduce re-injury risk. Would allow him to further prove that he isn't an "option qb," which is just, I can't.

I'm not so sure this is a great idea, considering the line.

Tyrod, Watkins and McCoy all practiced today as well

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

tyrod takes 1st team reps in practice today status changed from out to questionable. yay! tyrods gonna do it mikey!!!!

According to the Bills' Twitter, Tyrod plans on playing this week

I really hope he does play since I get most Bills games up here in NH and it's been awesome watching him play.

But, I would expect any QB with half a nutsack to say they're planning on playing until someone from the medical/coaching staff tells them they're not.

They certainly won't rule him out, which means I can't replace him on my fantasy team - he's still taking up a roster spot.

yeah now I have 3 qbs on my roster. just in case. tyrod has been my starter. ive got joe sukko who I am just holding on to just in case and picked up hoyer. mostly because they are playing jax this week. if tyrod misses multiple games im going to be in trouble.

I'm in the same boat, I've got Tyrod, my second backup is Matt Ryan who has been not putting up numbers....considering Cutler instead of Ryan

Draft twin.
