Apparently it all stems from a year that he took off from school to help his mother, who was sick. This is definitely something to keep track of. It will be interesting to see how it would impact his recruitment should he not be able to play this season.
If I had to guess, it seems as his unofficial top 3 are Bama, Tennessee and Tech, with him announcing visits to those schools.
You'd have to assume that Bama has the advantage...but it's pretty awesome to be in the mix for a big time QB.

Wouldn't it make sense for him to just do a year of prep school this Fall? Too bad our pipeline, Hargrave is getting rid of its football program.
I would contend that Fork Union has been much more of a Hokie pipeline than Hargrave
Yeah, I agree. I always get them confused. Hargrave seems to be where a bunch of our basketballers went.
Hargrave is eliminating football? News to me.

Is it against NCAA rules for us to send support to the family?
EDIT: Simply notes of support/well-wishes/comments on every article we can find about how the hokie nation hopes he gets his eligibility back.
Since I see none of y'all have mentioned it yet:
That's some shitty #BEACHFLOW right there.
First Drew Harris and now this with Cornwell. Something is not passsing my sniff test here.
I'm not blaming Virginia Tech. I'm blaming the overworked, overburdened public school system who are not doing their due diligent. There has to be more to the story than meet the eyes, and it's coming from ESPN?
Aliens amongst us for sure.
No decision in Cornwell's hearing today. The family brought more information to the committee and they felt they didn't have enough time to properly assess the new information. They will reconvene on 6/12/13.

Sounds like he won his appeal. Regardless of whether he ends up coming here, I'm happy for him. Congratulations
From ESPN story: "He still plans on visiting Tennessee and Virginia Tech in the next two weeks before making a decision."

"I asked Cornwell about his recruitment Friday, and he said that with the eligibility issue out of the way, he will take a visit to Virginia Tech next week and then will be ready to make his decision."
That's awesome! +1
Lol the picture on this article. The first thing I thought of was "we're going to have a quarterback with Alabama QB hair"
More I read about Cornwell, the more I want him on the team. He took time off to take care of his mother. That's a high character kid that embodies Ut Prosim. #allamericanboy
Here's a video on Cornwell if you haven't seen enough of him http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9353911/david-cornwell-es...
