A lot of serious stuff on TKP recently so I thought I'd lighten the mood by sharing a funny tweet I saw recently about the absolute supersaturation of daily fantasy sports ads in just about every medium. I think I speak for almost everyone when I say Fan Duel and Draft Kings should die.
The year is 2021. We are now ruled by our overlord, Draft Kings. Many lives were lost in the war with FanDuel. I hug my children QB1 & RB2— Tim (@Playing_Dad) October 2, 2015

I just decided to give fanduel a shot this year...so far i've put in $25 and as of today i've made $89,000,001.56.
or I've lost 10 bucks....one of those two
Read this New York Times article about how the top players on those sites are usually employees of the other company
yeah i saw that, after I started playing, lol. But i have no delusions of hitting the big time off it, if i can manage to have fun, and come out a few bucks ahead, I'm happy. I usually just do the low return 50/50 leagues...$2 entry, top 50% win $3.60 and the like
Also, shortly after that came out, fanduel and draft kings banned its employees from playing in other daily ff leagues
no mas
I thought it was interesting that they said the majority of players lose $10 to $20 dollars
One of the many benefits of cutting the cord is that I haven't seen a single ad for either of these companies yet.
They show up every commercial break and they are painfully bad.
How do you watch Tech games?
Not OP, but also cable cutter. I have apple TV. My parents let me use all their password for WatchESPN.
NFL games are difficult, but I just found out yesterday that I can get an HD antenna for $25 (and no monthly fee). Since I'm in a major city, I will get 50-some-odd HD channels, including CBS and FOX. This should also fix the occasional blackout problem that occurs whenever a game is being shown on the ACC Network. Of course, the downside is that I may have to see Draft Kings Commercials.
In D.C. they are on the sides of buses, it's impossible not to see them.
They are also all over the radio. Satellite, terrestrial, doesn't matter.
FanDuel and Draft Kings merge to create Skynet.
Then Skynet and Anheuser-Busch InBev-SABMiller merge, soon install a Johnny 5 rocket launcher on this guy:

+1 for Johnny 5. Short Circuit was one of my first favorite movies
I'll assume you meant "laser cannon" when you said "rocket launcher" ergo, leg.
It's been a long time, and you are correct. All that matters is Johnny 5 is alive.
I think the weirdest part of these ads is how they basically took the structure of weight loss pill commercials and overdubbed fantasy football talk. All interviews with "real" people, talking about how their life has been changed, and replete with small print reminders that results are not typical.
I think the ads on ESPN shows the type of audience they are pandering towards based off of who watches their show. In a nutshell, looks like it's just incredibly dense male idiots who'd fall for these type of ads, and these would be the same type of idiots that would buy "HEAD ON - APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE HEAD".
I guess I'm starting to rant a bit, but bottom line is that ESPN is basically a channel for schmucks who are easily manipulated, and therefore the ads are idiotic in order to affect their target audience.
What is this HEAD-ON you speak of? Asking for a friend...
Be glad you somehow escaped those stupid ads. Else, check it out on youtube and then regret wasting those moments of your life on it.
Just for anyone that is interested, you can apply Head On anywhere and it will still work.
anywhere you say?

Dorian Finney Smith?
my first thought as well when I saw the thread
Thought the same thing - came here expecting to read something about Finney Smith and/or his mom.
I still believe JG Wentworth is pulling the strings on this one. As soon as these 2 places crash and burn this guy is going to have all new structured settlement lawsuits to advertise.
I dislike gambling in my sports landscape, but I accept that it will happen. I hate how many commercials there are for these products, and I also really intensely dislike that Gameday now has a pretty much dedicated gambling guy.
However, I do find it interesting from the sense of analytics that you can set up models to generate your teams and apply the results accordingly.
Note that the GAMEDAY gambling guy took Purdue +5 when we played them. Case and point.
Looks like both companies are going to be facing some issues in court soon:
