TKP Fantasy Football - Week 5

Week five is in the books, and excitingness is happening in our leagues. Our top seven teams in last week's rankings are all still in the top ten, but our 8-10 all dropped into the 20+ range with poor weeks (since the sample size is only five weeks, I'm surprised there wasn't more movement).

Here's the link to the power rankings spreadsheet (filterable by league).

An explanation of rankings:
Overall Rank: Average rank of the four ranks below (from 1-10/12, depending on your league size, with 1 being the best).
Power Rating Rank: Rank of the Power Rating, a weighted ranking stat that I found on the internet dot com. It is comprised of a team's total points (60%), average points (20%), max points (10%) and min points (10%).
Standings Rank: Rank of the team's W-L record
Weekly Breakdown Rank: Rank of the average Weekly Breakdown; the Weekly Breakdown is a stat that ranks how many points a team scored in each week compared to the rest of their league.
Total Points Scored Rank: Rank of a team's total points scored over the span of the season

With that explanation out of the way, here are the top 10 teams in TKP Fantasy through five weeks:

  1. Team Koma (Frank Beamer Conference, Overall Rank: 1.25, last week #1)
  2. Enter Sandman (Danny Coale Conference, Overall Rank: 1.85, last week #3)
  3. Dirty Birds (Sam Rogers Conference, Overall Rank: 2.00, last week #3)
  4. Catticus' Finches (Vincent and Nina Fuller Conference, Overall Rank: 2.00, last week #6)
  5. Kuhn on the Cobb (Bud Foster Conference, Overall Rank: 2.15, last week #5)
  6. Tobacco Road Infiltrators (Danny Coale Conference, Overall Rank: 2.25, last week #4)
  7. Team Needs a Name (Bud Foster Conference, Overall Rank: 2.50, last week #7)
  8. Pastor of Muppets (Vincent and Nina Fuller Conference, Overall Rank: 2.50, last week NR)
  9. Party Like A Gronk Star (Sam Rogers Conference, Overall Rank: 3.05, last week NR)
  10. Team Suck a Ditka (Sam Rogers Conference, Overall Rank: 3.30, last week NR)

The best game of the week was in the Danny Coale Conference between Highty Tighty Mavericks and NOVA More Cowbell, with the Mavs coming out on top 131.8-131.3. The teams went into the Monday Night matchup at 124.3-123.7 Mavs, with the former having Antonio Brown yet to play and NOVA More Cowbell having Heath Miller still (boooooo). The Stillers scored on a walk-off TD run by Le'Veon Bell, but both owners were surely on the edges of their seats to see if Brown or Miller would get the game-winning score.

There were two pretty bad games this week:
In the Danny Coale Conference, Hokie Stuck in Russia defeated Finkle is Einhorn 56.2-31.2. Hokie Stuck In Russia's lineup featured A.J. Green (13.8 points) and not a lot else, with Peyton Manning, Eddie Lacy, and company all putting up duds. Finkle is Einhorn, on the other hand, started four players on bye weeks and Andrew Luck, but the four players who actually played averaged 7.8 points each. If you're out there, Finkle is Einhorn, please return to manage your team, or else you will be publicly shamed!

The worst game that featured teams that both started full lineups came between the previously undefeated Team Simmons and Team Carter in the Vincent and Nina Fuller Conference. Team Carter won 65.7-38.3, with Mike Vick (12.5) and Arian Foster (11.8) being the only two who posted double digit points. Team Simmons saw their stud RB Jamaal Charles (8.4) go down for the season, and had duds out of Randall Cobb (2.3), Mike Evans (4.1), Owen Daniels (0) and the Ravens' D (-3).

So glad my winless team didn't make this press release

I have no idea why your teams always lose in TKP leagues. I'll hang up and listen.

I was actually decent last season and just missed the playoffs. This year I missed the first 5 rounds of the draft and ended up with Lacy, Megatron and Jordan Mathews. You would think at least one of them would have panned out.

Did you start like 0-5 last year and make a late push? I thought you were the one that was always super unlucky with good teams that inexplicably lose a ton early in the year.

@historyhokie.bsky.social

Maybe I did. I wouldn't call this year's RealDiehls team good, though, although luck hasn't been on my side either.

Haha, be thankful that your winless team is ranked higher than my 1-4 team, Dork Magic, which is dead last in the power rankings. On the Brightside, I can't get any worse!

As GM of 'Take It to the Facyson', I feel your struggles

"The Big Ten is always using excuses to cancel games with us. First Wisconsin. Then Wisconsin. After that, Wisconsin. The subsequent cancellation with Wisconsin comes to mind too. Now Penn State. What's next? Wisconsin?" -HorseOnATreadmill

I went into Monday favored to win by almost 10. Then Antonio Gates happened.

I have 4 teams across 4 leagues, and each week my 4 teams have gone exactly 1-3, and through 4 weeks they had each won once. This is the kind of consistency that really sucks.

I am right there with ya. I am in 3 leagues and I keep going 1-3. One of my leagues I have yet to win a matchup. This past weekend I scored more points than any other team in that league except for one. The problem? I went against that one...

I thought for sure id be in game of the week. If my team had played ANYONE else in the conference this week I would've crushed em..

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

I am glad that I am finally being recognized for my greatness:)

In Soviet Russia, bench plays you!

That Monday game decided 3 different matchups for me. All were decided by less than a point. This was the only one I won. I need Roethlisberger back because with Vick in, Antonio Brown puts up cable numbers instead of the DirecTV scores he was posting the first few weeks.

Mike Evans has done nothing but put up duds all year.

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.
