Virginia Tech wide receiver Deon Newsome was charged with driving while intoxicated and public intoxication on Sunday, according to court records.
Newsome, 20, was booked in the Montgomery County Regional Jail on Sunday and later bonded out, according to jail records
Virginia Tech suspended Newsome from competition indefinitely "upon the team becoming aware of his situation," according to a statement from the school.

if my interpretation of comments from internet #sauces are correct this isn't his first "violation of team rules" this season. This one's only public because arrest records are public.

Besides driving drunk, I too would've gotten trashed, which I did, after another pathetic loss to a team that we should've beat. FML straight to hell if I have to keep witnessing this horseshit. Wait, we have Duke who's coming off a bye week this Saturday! Nevermind! Off to hell I go in a hand basket. Ta Ta!!

I was going for continued perception problems:
1) Yet another down year with loses to ECU, Pitt and Miami. I know I left-off OSU, but they are #1 in the country and we did lose our starting QB halfway through the game.
2) OOC games are Exhibition games.
3) Off season problems via CJ Reavis and Shai McKenzie
4) Now this news about Newsome
Now I know these are not CFB's fault, except for the loses, and that he can't keep an eye on the kids 24-7. But perception rarely is in line with reality and this latest episode certainly doesn't help with perception. An over-reaction, perhaps, but this kind of news certainly isn't helping to sell people.

No because we are 2-9, 3-8 whatever it is AT HOME our last 11 games against FBS competition. And that we can't recruit AT ALL with the current staff. All this against the weakest division by far of the power 5, AND we haven't even played FSU, Clemon or ND.

DUI is no laughing matter. Disappointed.
No it is not. I had to learn the hard way by getting one 3 years ago. I'm sure there might be (maybe I'm wrong) a couple of people on here that has gotten one but I am not ashamed to share that I got one. I am not going to go into the details of what I went through but it was definitely one of, if not the, biggest learning experiences I had. It's a huge mistake to put yourself and others in danger like that. A lot of people feel invisible thinking that no wrong or bad could happen to them until it happens. Virginia also doesnt fuck around with these. Probably the strictest state when it comes to DUI's.... He will have a huge financial/emotional/physical burden on him for at least a year

A 1st DUI is not a felony in VA and is often plead out to reckless driving with some stipulations.
Depends on the jurisdiction, the prosecutor and his BAC. Lots of places don't negotiate them ahead of time due to political pressure.
8 or 9 years ago, this would have been a one-game suspension. Glad to see one part of.our program is headed in the right direction: discipline.
Eh, I don't think much has changed in that department. McKenzie got 1 game for his transgressions over the summer. That was his first strike though.
