Above .500......

Looking at the quality of this team and the way that the rest of our schedule plays out, I can't really see this team being above .500 at any point. The last time that happened at VT was back in 1988-89. Here's to hoping that this is rock bottom for the program.

I expect the Virginia game to once again determine if we are bowl eligible this year. However, I would not be surprised if we head into that game 4-7 and all we're playing for is the streak. It seems that every year we lose one more thing to hang our hat on. We've gone from ACC championships to the 10-win streak to the bowl streak. I could see the end of this year being all about if we beat Virginia 12 straight. That's the trajectory we're on. And if it happens, you just know we'll hear Beamer mention it as a positive in the postgame. Question is, if he loses the bowl streak and the UVA streak, what would he have left to talk about?

If we lose in the game against lolUVA and we don't make a bowl, I guarantee the talking point will be how excited we are to play in The Battle At Bristol.

dang...you beat me to it...I'm a slow reader

Nah. Nobody cares about those exhibition games.

This made me laugh because we all know when the season starts.

Tennessee through Miami looks brutal. I hope we are fielding a tech team of old for that stretch.

I don't think any of the ACC dates are set so that isn't the actual line up. You'll notice that all of our away games are listed at the bottom. There's no way we play all of our home games at the beginning of the season and finish the last 4 games on the road. Also, UVA is always our 12th game...never in the middle of the season

Dang, I should have taken a longer look at that, thanks for the correction!

EAST CAROLINA AGAIN F*CK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was nine years old the last time those bow tie wearing sissies beat the good guys.

I hate this. I really really hate this.

Me, too. In about 10 years we can add an ODU one to the mix in the inevitable "ODU again!" threads

that gif is cool as shit. the football field is like an ocean and like really realistic looking. not sarcastic. if i was an ECU fan i'd have that shit as my laptop background.

Its ok! It's just an exhibition game and it doesn't count.

Finally, someone who gets it!

So, which side does ND fall on?

I think that depends on whether we win or lose :)

Bristol?

And there's a battle...

If we lose to a terribad UVa with a coach circling the drain with one of the least talented rosters in the country while also missing out on a bowl for the first time in 25 years.... yeah, at that point you pull the trigger and start over.

Love Beamer, love everything he's done for this program, but he did not 'earn the right' to lead this program into the gutter just for the sake of coasting to the Bristol game. The entire athletic budget relies on Virginia Tech having a competitive football program, and the consequences of allowing the program to bottom out, and the ripple effect from the resulting fan apathy will severely damage our athletic department as a whole. Financially, we cannot afford to continue down the path we are on for any longer than we have to be.

Which is why we accept our losses already and get rid of Frank after this season no matter what.

How far we have fallen.

The team is talented enough to win 9 games, but unfortunately I think they'll finish with 7 when it's all said and done.

boy, that's optimistic! I think we'll be lucky to get to a bowl game at this rate, TBH

Onward and upward

Yeah, and I know that's a common opinion, but we all quickly forget that we also thought that exact same thing at this point for the past 3 seasons, and we won 7 or 8 games in each of those years. Even won two of those bowl games, believe it or not.

well, there's only one way to find out, I guess

This team WAS talented enough to win 9 games. People are delusional thinking this team was going to be consistent after the losses of its offensive and defensive leaders almost essentially before the season started.

I agree that Brewer is better, but I saw VT play last year as well.

Yeah, I would say with Brewer and Fuller they were a 9-win potential team.

I think we can escape with 6-6 or 7-5. I hope anyway. I know Brewer had the late pick, but I feel like having him back and hopefully staying healthy will help create running opportunity too!

#allmarooneverything

The late pick thing all looked to me just trying to force a drive down the field with limited time and T.O. Everyone knows it was going to the sideline and our WR didn't win the fight for that one.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

Agree, if our D can give Brewer the ball back with the game still at 23-20, no doubt Brewer drives us down the field and gets us points. He's a gamer, but there wasn't much hope with the score at 30-20 and only 3 mins left.

Maybe I should bookmark this just in case...

9-4 with a bowl win

Sean

I fkn wish

3/5 oc games do not count.

I don't like to get involved in discussions about whether or not the season is doomed, or whether or not we should fire everyone, but I would invite everyone who thinks we won't make a bowl to go back and look at the 2012-2013 season. As long as we don't pick up that 7th L anything can happen.

Beat Duke.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Remember the good days when the only time we were under .500 was when we had lost to a future national champion in week 1.
