With the way VT has been playing and the way BC has been playing, I assumed it would be the standard "Home Team -3". I think both teams are pretty even (on a neutral field), maybe giving the slight edge to BC. But since Tech is favored by 2.5 points in Chestnut Hill, I guess the oddsmakers are willing to say we're a better team by some margin.
I was pretty surprised, are you?
EDIT: I did know BC's #1 QB went down for the season, but I didn't realize that their #2 QB got a concussion vs Louisville and is questionable for the VT game. That might have some effect.

given that we were favored against Duke, and we took them, a ranked team, to 4 OT and BC has looked listless on offense this year....No, I'm not surprised at all. BC is a really bad team. They have a really good defense and absolutely no offense. They should not win this game. VT SHOULD win. Will they? Depends on if the defense brings their big boy pants or not.
It's interesting to me that BC and VT both have the Duke game in common, both 2 point losses. We lost 45-43 and BC lost 9-7. I've got a lot of respect for BC. FSU's offense only managed to score 1 TD at BC. If they played a 12 quarter game, I'm not sure FSU's offense puts up 24 points in that game.
It's kind of a shame that BC's amazing D has been wasted on that putrid O.
so what you're saying is that BC's fan this year is having the same experience we've had since...2000 (current year excepted)?
Who doesn't love Amelia Pond?
Me. That whole River/Amy plotline had me dying a little on the inside. Give me the 10th doctor and Rose all day long.
Matt Smith as the doctor made me stop watching halfway through his first season.
I got sick and tired of her and Rory after 3 years. They just drug it out over and over. It might not have been so bad if they didn't do the half season one year and half the next.
Watching in real time, I could see this. however, I binge-watched them on netflix and the like so that definitely took away that aspect. That being said, even with binge watching, rose was around for far too long...
Why....why did you have to say that??? The football gods will hear you...
No, they are down their starting quarterback and running back. If Brewer doesn't throw picks and lefty gives McMillan more than five touches in the first half we should be okay. This all assumes our defense shows up
...and best defensive back. They are pretty injured....and bad on offense.
That said, I expect it will be tough for VT to get to 250 yards offense. Reminds me of a game at BC in 2010 when we won 19-0. Except we had 343 yards and they had 250. You can subtract about 100 yards from both of those. We will win about 10-0.
I'm not too surprised given the results of our respective games against Duke and BC's loss to Wake. The first team to 14 will probably win this one.
the first time to 6 probably wins...
Yeah, I'm thinking this game could be Wake 2.0 (ironically for both teams), which team wins I have no idea.
They lost to Wake? Glad we've never sunk that far! /s
Fucking BC, matty ice's little brother better not be the 3rd string qb
BC's #3 QB is Doug Flutie's nephew, if that makes you feel better.
Nope.
With how we have faired against 50/50 jump balls on defense this season, I would put that play right there into motion a lot.
And he is likely the starter.
Prepare yourself for one of the ugliest games of the year because it has that potential. (Pitt game is in there too) Not saying that it will be that bad but I am expecting a lot of punts.
And a lot of punt returns. Stroman's got this!
Hooray for poor starting field position!
Not so much.
Our coverage team is pretty good.
We likely have a much better punter and an aggressive return guy.
I think we have a good opportunity to win the field position battle.
It will likely only take 1 big return to change the outcome of this game. I hope it is us returning one the right direction that is that game changer though.
Not surprised. BC doesn't score points.
VT has been favored in every game this season but anOSU, so why stop now
If they live up to their potential for the rest of the season, we should make it to a bowl game.
Sorry, that's all I've got.
As bad as our D has played I predict they get one pick 6 as well as sack Flutie enough to cause a fumble, leading to points.
What are these things you call "sacks"?
Speaking of Flutie, what was our record vs the dad back in the 80s?
We didn't play BC until 1993.
So...undefeated!
Watch. BC has held most teams in check with their D this year, but we will end up winning this game 35-7 or something like that....that just seems to be how this team is going this year, do exactly what you aren't supposed to do.
Surprise, 19-0. Same score as last time we shut out BC @ BC.
since this is not an unexpected or astonishing event, no.
Which will be higher?
Total points for this game or total mentions of Doug Flutie and "the play"?
Points, these players weren't even alive for "the play"
yeah but the announcers probably were...and they'll be bored out of their mind...a 3-0 type of game can do that to you
I'll take "the play" -9.5
When was the last time anyone on our D got a pick (or forced a TO for that matter)?
NCST
That was a fun night
