And why do you think VT deserves anymore than what these ass hats wrote about us? Last year VT was lucky just to go bowling and until on field results differ from last year we deserve NOT to be given the benefit of the doubt. We will be lucky to go bowling again this year even with a easier schedule. I hate being so pessimistic about a team I've cheered for since I was in high school "grad in 98'". However enough is enough with watching our offense struggle and offensive line get obliterated at every turn. This has left me with a bitterness I can not shake. Coach harder, study harder, train harder, recruit harder. WIN WIN WIN and THEN read what they have to say. Don't bitch when the so called experts have little faith when you struggle to put 10 points on Rutgers.

I agree, we're definitely not going to get the benefit of the doubt. However, claiming Fedora is the best coach in the league is, at best, going out on a limb.

Is it just me or does anyone else not remember how better Tech is with low expectations? I love it when we are a debatable top 25 team coming into the season. Some how it makes our guys work harder and prepare for the bigger games. I mean this season reminds me so much going into the '04 season. Coming off a major disappointing season in '03 that had so much hype and then losing Hall and Jones, the '04 season was looking scary. We had no acknowledged star players (that would change during the season). Everyone thought we were going to be even worse, especially with moving to the ACC. Who did we play first game of the year in '04 that everyone predicted would murder us? Oh yea, a NC favorite in USC who did go on to win it that year. And who won the ACC that year? Oh yea, the Hokies won it and shocked everyone. And who do we play the first game this year? Alabama, probably the biggest favorite in years to win it all. Idk about you all, but I'm more excited about this year than many in the past. Not saying we are a dark horse to win it all, but I think as long as we can get that offense manageable, then we are going to surprise a lot of people and could very well get back to 10+ wins.

i thought the same thing after seeing this, we were on a lot of "descending" lists going into the 04 season. analysts were laughing at our chances against usc, just like they are this year. bud will have his guys ready, the new members of the staff have to prove they can get theirs ready to go as well and we can give bama more than they're bargaining for.

I'll agree that UNC is "ascending" considering they had a good year last year after Butch didn't do much of anything, but Fedora is nowhere near the top coach in the league. Not even top 5. I would argue that Beamer, Jimbo, Dabo, PJ, and Cutcliffe are all better coaches than Fedora. Let's see how he does in year 2.

I don't think UNC is going to be better than VT this year. Their defense was spotty at best last year, and with the loss of Kevin Reddick I highly doubt that they'll drastically improve (they gave up 68 points to GT last year AND lost to Duke).
Bryn Renner is a good QB, but losing Giovanni Bernard and three starting o-linemen (including Johnathan Cooper) is going to hurt that offense, as well.

I see UNC as being in a similar situation as we were last year....major losses on the O-line and at tailback, good QB back, questions on D.....a similar result would make sense

..you literally have no idea how angry I'd be if Virginia Tech went to the Indepence Bowl this year.
1. I've been stationed in the Shreveport/Bossier area for the past 5 years now and I've finally got my way out (I'm retraining into medical, hopefully to be stationed in VA soon)
2. It's the Independence Bowl... which I've been to for the past 5 years (literally 8 minutes from where I live) ...crappy city and crappy stadium. And for some reason it rains almost every time.

There is a casino in Bossier right? If things went absolutely horrible this year, I could drink my way through town for a few days. However, I'm still planning on spending my January vacation in sunny Pasadena.

VT works their tail off in the off-season when they open the season with a challenge like Alabama. Combine that with the low media expectations and I expect to see 'em spit fire and shit Tarheels. Nothing less.

"Its best coach"??? #gosportingnews
Independence Bowl... Bah
Most wins among all active coaches.....20 straight bowls.... nothing compared to winning 12 games at Southern Miss and tie for ACC coastal once.
I actually LOL'ed at "Best Coach".

I've always wanted to spend December in Shreveport. I'm sure its much better than that other Louisiana city that hosts a bowl game.

That Rutgers defense... They're a tough bunch. They'll get after ya

Just wait till October.
Those Coastal Championship rings does wonders for you in the media, they'll really get after ya!

It must be really hard to win an ACC division that lacked a ranked team for much of the year with Butch Davis' recruits. I'm not sure how he did it.

Even free isn't worth it at times.

"Virginia Tech Hokes*" "Orange and Purple"
*(took a couple times to type, just so natural putting Hokies)
Shocking that someone ranked our uniforms 1st in anything positive considering most outsiders hate the maroon and orange combination.
Especially since they're applauding our road whites, which don't look particularly interesting to me. I hate those shoulder stripes for some reason.
Yeah, the guy over at NikeBlog.com insists that it's either purple or violet. I'm not sure he's ever seen a color chart:

Violet
Purple
