Nov. 2nd Tech Talk Live

I thought we could discuss what we hear on a Tech Talk Live on this day that the great Frank Beamer has told the world he is retiring. The show tonight will be dedicated to just Frank so it should be good.

Thanks. Found it.

Frank Beamer:

I'll be watching the next coach. "If you don't do it the way I'd do it, I'm gonna let you know."

Hilarious.

Think he's kind of rallying for Shane as coach? I mean, obviously he wants the best for his son, and regardless, like he even said, he has no say in the hire. It could just be him talking about how much he appreciates his son though, which is a given.

I love what he's saying about getting on the new coaches case if he's not doing the job right, haha.

I think Beamer is just doing what Beamer always does, thanking and crediting those who support him. He's mentioning how much support he's received from his family and how thankful he is for them, so it's only natural that he thanks Shane both as a son, a player, and a coach.

From some of the things Frank has said tonight it seems like he has heard some of the criticism this year especially and has taken it especially hard.

Frank said he's disappointed that he's not going to get to drive a race car in Bristol at the game.

He then got a question about throwing the ball more on first downs in which he responded "take that up with the next guy"

Audience question: "Why don't you throw more on first down?"

Beamer: "Why don't you ask that to the next guy?"

This team is going to go out there and have fun and I honestly think smash some heads in for Frank.

The person asking the question is a grade A moron.

Why don't we throw more on first down?

Who the hell asked that dumbass question?

Probably someone from TSL...

I would root for the Russians before I would root for Virginia.

Next up

Why don't we do 5 wide and snap the ball every 18 seconds

If he's the same as this guy

It matters when coaches care about players and when players care about coaches

This man will NEVER be topped in terms of what he means to not just VT football but college football around the country.

He certainly has the right philosophy.

Clearly not shared by all coaches.

Why is the show only an hour tonight???

Wow I just realized how much information and "stuff" will have to not just rebranded but moved around. Everything Beamerball will have to go, the equipment truck, the Beamerball website that so much team info gets released on etc.

That's why Shane will get the job. Think of the money we'll save. /s

We put the K in Kwality

Well, that's Frank's website I thought. He could do whatever he wants, although more analysis/fan perspective than insider coach stuff.

-What we do is, if we need that extra push, you know what we do? -Put it up to fully dipped? -Fully dipped. Exactly. It's dork magic.

Someone else said it in another thread, but I think we should hold on to Beamerball. Excellent special teams plays should always be referred to as Beamerball.

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."

My friends and I were having dinner at Cinebowl tonight and we honestly completely forgot that TTL broadcasts from there. Anyways we quickly realized it and our table was closest to the entrance away from the broadcast area and the crowd. So we see Frank walk in first and he stops to sign a young boy's football and get a picture with him before heading over to the set. Then the standing ovation occurred as posted above. Frank is still the same guy signing autographs and shaking hands, not seeking the limelight.

I also got to shake his hand afterwards and wish him a good retirement. You all think I can get away without washing it?

5 years, 2 degrees, 33 football games as a student, and 2 Cassell court stormings later, I bleed Maroon and Orange

Better just chop it off and seal it in a block of acrylic.

He looked like the weight of the world had been lifted off of his shoulders last night. Looked more at ease and comfortable than he has all year. Nice to see.
