In the wake of Frank Beamer's retirement announcement, former College GameDay host Chris Fowler noted Beamer's early embracement of GameDay's campus broadcasts. Fowler went as far to say GameDay owed Beamer a debt.

Well GameDay, on November 21, 2015 you can pay that debt off.
There are plenty of great games and destinations to choose from that Saturday. The Sooners host the Horned Frogs, Baylor is in town to play Oklahoma State, and Sparty heads to Columbus. Hokies–Tar Heels has few playoff implications, but GameDay has always been about more than just the matchup. It's about the passion, the atmosphere, the campus, and fans that create the perfect Saturday morning moment. I promise you this: Hokie Nation will get up for GameDay and go harder than any other fan base to show how much we love, respect and appreciate everything Frank Beamer has done for us.

Update: 12:00 PM (11/4/15): On Wednesday's ACC Coaches teleconference Beamer was asked if he would like College GameDay to visit Blacksburg for his final home game.
"Anytime a group like that (College GameDay) comes to your campus, it's all good," Beamer said. "I appreciate our fans trying to make that happen. I think they probably make their schedule out, and I'm not sure they can change that, but we'd love to have them here. We'll treat 'em good if they decide to come."
That seems like a challenge from Frank.

Let's not forget here, that we don't have to limit ourselves to VT alumni or players. There are countless other coaches and administrators that have huge amounts of respect for Frank Beamer, and we are not limited to only communicating with VT people.
In social media, quantity matters. Find guys like Spurrier, Barry Alvarez, Pete Carrol, Chip Kelly...there are limitless sports figures that are worth mentioning this to, even if only on the slim possibility of a retweet because they have a huge amount of respect for Frank.
Find media outlets. Find sports figures. Find NASCAR drivers, Darius Rucker, ANYBODY. Hell, Matthew McConaughey and Snoop Dogg are big college football fans and SURELY know who Frank Beamer is. Is it worth it to tweet at them just on that fact alone? Hell fucking yeah it is.
Spread them out, not all today, to keep the momentum going until they have to choose a gameday location, which will be in approximately ten days. I'm trying to work the PSU discussion boards through my connections up here, because I can sell them on the idea that it will take a gameday visit away from OSU/MSU!
Find people who will be your friend just because of a common enemy. Ask for help. This might be the last time we can randomly just ask people for something. FFS! (For Frank's Sake!) Hell, tweet at the Queen of England for all I care.

I don't have a Twitter machine (might be about time to get one though it seems..) but everyone should start sending them at coaches and universities. Maybe a few every day to spread it out and keep it strong over the next two weeks.. Hit all the ACC schools, hit all our out-of-conference rivals (looking at you ECU..), B1G schools, AAC, Murry State, local FCS schools. Even if they might not have any interest in helping the cause, shoot it at them anyways!
Shoot, Urban Meyer and Beamer are even friends on a personal level. Go after him too! If he really respects Beamer he will realize how special of an occasion this is. Not to mention that anOSU will most likely be hit by GameDay later in the year like the UM game.

To "nerd" it up, most federal enclaves are allowing the "standard" social media sites because there is some marketing done with these sites, and it would restrict Public Affairs/Relations in getting certain things out to wide audiences... and with YouTube, a lot of training is presented through their paid-subscribers channels (because a lot of the GoToMyPC and WebEx stuff gets blocked). All the SnapChat, Vine and Imgur stuff gets blocked because it allows a little too much "sketchy".

That slate is pretty stout. MSU-OSU, Baylor-OK STate. I would love Gameday to pay the man his respects, but it would almost be a slap in the face to playoff teams who will probably have nice and tidy 8pm kickoffs.
More realistically would be to get the ACC to give us a Prime Time kickoff slot, like a 6pm start at least.

Remember, Gameday does not have to go to the site of the Game of the Week. The crew can show up, do the Gameday stuff in the morning and then Herbie can fly out and go to the game of the week and call MSU-OSU.

I confess I haven't been on twitter for that long....Is there an effective strategy for harassing all of these College Gameday people without getting blocked?

If Gameday were smart they'd just go ahead and announce they're coming. I can't imagine getting blown up like this for the next 2 weeks is going to be the definition of a fun time for them. Oh well!

They never announce where they are going until the week before. So for us they won't announce this game's location until Saturday, November 14 or Sunday the 15th. We need to be sure to blast them hard during those days.

Appeal to the best sense in them.
I believe their hope is that the initial surge will slowly die down before they have to make an announcement.
The problem is that they have no idea the type passion and love The Hokie Nation has for this man.
When in the history of Beamer Era Hokie football have we ever gone away silently? College Gameday and ESPN better expect the bar to be raised in this platform just as much as we raised the bar with Gameday to begin with.
I don't know why people don't think they'd listen to a pretty passionate argument here.
I'm sure there are some OSU homers there, but this is a bigger opportunity.

Matt Burrell, said VT had an "entitled" attitude after we beat OSU last year. He then committed to OSU.
That is Matthew Burrell, a kid we recruited but ultimately chose an ohio state college. He visited said college when THE Virginia Tech Hokies came into town and won the game of a century. He was quoted after the game saying THE Virginia Tech fans were acting "entitled". He clearly doesn't know the meaning of entitled. That being said I thought it was quite Ironic an ohio state college fans thought they were entitled to Gameday. Also I like how him and SpongeBob are making the same face.
"I didn't care," Burrell, who eventually signed with Ohio State in February, told Northeast Ohio Media Group. "(Virginia Tech) acted way too entitled. Any team, you would win with class, which I would think, but it just showed me where I wanted to be."

HOKIES UNITE!! Ok, that was kinda corny, but really, lets flood College GameDay with our requests to 1)Bring Game Day to Blacksburg on 11/21 for Coach Frank Beamer 's last home game and 2) Make this a night game. We all know the Hokies play better when the lights are on, and Coach Beamer made his reputation on Thursday nights, so let's give him the send off he deserves.

Mine was taken down in seconds. There have been a dozen or so "15 kb" edits made and then reversed this afternoon. Either someone is watching like a hawk or there is a bot.

WCYB and Bristol Herald Courier minimize their VT coverage as much as possible while acting like Tennessee is in the running for a natty every year.

OT: side note about alumni/Hokie Club chapters my biggest problem with VT is how poorly run and organized these are. Charleston has a HUGE alumni presence and one very dedicated girl does it all by herself and there is no Hokie Club in the city.

I think it is 223 or 224, south west side, 20 yrd line, high up there. I was there for the GT vs FSU game. A FSU fan said I had the voice of a loud speaker while FSU's offence was on the field. I let them know that I was cheering for GT that day, but my voice was a product of Lane Stadium. I will be heard.

I remember the 99 season when students packed the stands for the Gameday show in Lane. We made it kind of a big deal. Hopefully they will show up one last time for Frank. If not, I hope Corso's car gets hit by lightning again.

My strategy from here on out (aside from replying to/retweeting others) is to come up with at least one reason per day (and in practice, a lot more) that Gameday should come here. Some will be funny/hyperbole, others poignant, others factual. List ideas here for keeping up the momentum!

Facebook reminded me that GameDay was on campus 10 years ago today for the Miami game.
I know that game didn't go as planned, but it was the second visit to campus that year. I got Corso to sign a picture he had taken with some of the HTs during the first visit, and have had that hanging over my computer for a decade.

My argument to the big slate of games will remain the same: There will be marquee matchups and big weeks every. single. year. Frank Beamer coaching his last ever game at Virginia Tech will only happen once
Here is the thing about "better matchups" ranked games etc. it doesn't matter where Gameday does there broadcast from the ratings will still be high and people will still tune in.

I love this idea but I don't know how I could pull it off with both time and materials and the fact my girls are 5 months, 2 years and 4 years old. But if I can figure it out and maybe a little help with a script I might try it this weekend.

If you go to hokiesports.com, they are now tracking how many times #GameDay4Frank has been used on Twitter. Over 26,000 since we started this yesterday morning.

If Gameday were to come, what time do you think would be reasonable to show up and do you think parking lots would be open then? We usually park at the airport but I'm not sure that me leaving Bristol at like 4 and getting to Tech at 6 is a good plan... I've never done the Gameday thing before so I don't really know how getting close to the stage works. I guess I should wait to question those things once they announce they're coming. I think there's more than a good chance they will though.
It's pretty easy, it's like a concert, but way less packed. First few rows are tight, but then it typically thins out (my only experience is twice at Clemson games). If they come, and you are parked by 6am you'll be fine. Show starts at 8 (first hour on ESPNU, I think). Don't expect to hear much of what they say though, and bring some airplane bottles with you.
Gameday has never started at 8, unless they do a quick hit on Sportscenter.
Show is 9-12, all on ESPN. (9 am hour used to be on ESPNU until 2013.)
Although last time they were at Tech, it was only two hours, or even less.
Pretty sure the first hour is ESPNU only from 8-9, then they flip to ESPN?
Nope. They only did the ESPNU first hour deal for the 9 AM hour from 2010-2013.
Besides, if they started at 8 AM here, it would be 5 AM on the west coast, and they've had more than a few shows out that way. 6 AM PST is already pushing it.
