A few weeks ago, BC was up (somewhere in the 100s, I believe). Our next opponent is today on the countdown. Just thought I'd pass it along.

EDIT - yesterday Pitt was up at #84 as well... Didn't feel like it really deserved it's own post, though:

Great, we have a pretty weak schedule as it is, once you get past Bama, and our 2 weakest opponents (excluding Western Carolina) are both in-conference? Not sure if good or bad...
Well, they're our 2 weakest FBS opponents... And to be fair, most conferences have had 2 bottom feeders already.
Kansas and Iowa St are lower than BC and Duke (respectively). Ditto for Illinois and Purdue. Pac-12 had Colorado (worse than BC), and then both Cal and Washington St below Duke. Kentucky has made an appearance... The 80s isn't a terrible spot for a bad team. The ACC's problem isn't a lot of bad teams. It's the lack of dominant top-5 teams.
I guess I was moreso surprised that Marshall is better than BC or Duke, since they finished 5-7 last year and Duke made a bowl game from the ACC, but I guess noone expects them to repeat the feat.
According to the preview, Duke had a fair amount of turnover on offense. But I agree - I'm not sure Marshall will be all that much higher.
It's unlikely with the loss of Renfree. Last year's backups (Connette and Boone) are capable, but not proven. Especially with the loss of Vernon as well.
David Cutcliffe is my fantasy VT OC/QB Coach.
Nice. Let's start a Manning vs. Brady debate!! (or a Henne vs. Shuler debate). I think Lefty has the advantage, as he is younger and has groomed some of the latest QB stars.
That wasn't a slight at Loeffler by any means, but say if VT had its pick of anyone in the country to takeover its offense, I'd go with the man who developed the Manning Bros.
Give him credit where credit is due: he has Duke play us tough every year and has them humiliate UVA quite often (#LOLUVa)!
I didn't take it as a slight at Loeffler, but Cutcliffe and Lefty have developed many of the premier passers currently in the NFL. I think the debate is more than reasonable, (except for Cutcliffe not really being available) and I think both could completely enhance VT's stagnant offense. Just look how good Tenessee and Ole Miss were with Cutcliffe at the helm and how well they've done since. Duke was pretty much a doormat and now Cutcliffe has them respectable. My only concern with Cutcliffe would be that he has been so accomplished that he has reached a complacency. It's almost like he's retired and just happy to coach up a mediocre team.
I just hope Lefty is the answer VT needs for their offense. I have a feeling we're going to be pretty happy campers for the next few years.
Anybody wanna guess where we'll end up? I'm figuring upper 20's to low 30's.
That'd be my pick as well. Shall we put the over/under at 27?
That sounds about right.
Which way is which? Is "over" equivalent to "better", or "bigger number"?
over = larger number = worse team.
I'll take the under, just because I'm a homer...
