Happy Day 3 of #GameDay4Frank Hokies!
Since the staff of TKP has done an amazing job creating a social media frenzy of #GameDay4Frank, along with the members of the site, I thought it would be appropriate to start a new (sub) thread/discussion on sharing ideas of how Hokie Nation (and BEYOND!) can help the cause! Have an idea to spread the word? Write it below! Provide a target audience! You never know – the person reading your post may know a person that can help! I understand that there are a ton of ideas on the other thread, but wanted to provide a targeted thread for the idea sharing, trending, viral #GameDay4Frank cause!
If there is one thing the Hokie Nation does best, it is come together at times when we need to most! Share your ideas on the best way to promote this cause and continue the momentum!

I liked the idea I saw on Twitter of getting as many students as possible onto the drill field for a #GameDay4Frank video. There's not a day in my life that I don't wish I were attending Virginia Tech and not occupational therapy school else where, but I truly wish I could be around to help organize something like that. Can anyone get that going?

teabourbon.Maybe the student union could help organize? Or anyone with a listserv to students. Basically, all they would need is a 'wear your orange and maroon and be on the drillfield on date time for #GameDay4Frank video recording' message to be sent and I'm sure it would create a frenzy of supporters.
I'm sure someone has access to a drone or something to really show the size of the crowd. If students could do it for that viral flash mob thing everyone did a couple years ago (name of that movement escaped me... for the better) then we can surely get something going for a video for #GameDay4Frank
For me, I'm sort of coming up with some random ideas each day. Today, I made the image I posted on the other thread and tagged some important people hoping for RTs. Seems to be working reasonably well so far and Pete Moris has been all over it. I also just come up with random "reasons" for bringing the show to VT, posted whenever I think of them. For my part, I will try to do an image/question/theme each day for my followers and hope it gets passed around.

Maybe find a few Hokies living in western Alabama that could show up with a few signs? So that they're on camera constantly for an hour instead of just being visible to those in the area.

My idea is to use the cuteness factor of my kids, yes I know I'm exploiting them. I've already posted several pictures of them and my goal this weekend is to get a video of them poorly doing a Corso "not so fast".
Im going to the ODU vs Utep game on the 14th and it is going to be on Fox sports one so if anyone has any good sign ideas then hit me up

I hit up the chapter officers facebook (closed) group yesterday to recruit more people for tomorrow. Atlanta is only 3 hours away - we have to have some alumni that would want to do a road trip for tomorrow for a few hours in Atlanta

There is a College Gameday set at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta where you can record a "guest pick" for any team. I think someone should record a #GameDay4Frank video on the set and then we could spam the twitterverse with it. You could basically say whatever you want about Frank and dub in Chris and Desmond's parts later- maybe including the audio of Chris saying how much debt was owed to Frank for Gameday's success.

It would be late in the game, but I'm heading down to Atlanta next week for the GT game and could do this on Friday. I'm guessing someone local to Atlanta could do it sooner.
They won't announce until after next Saturday's game so it can't hurt.

Anybody know how to get to Jimmy Fallon? I was watching last night, and every Thursday he comes up with a silly topic to tweet about. Virtually every week that he does this, he will announce prior to sharing some of the funnier tweets that "within 30 minutes this topic was a top global trending topic." Maybe give Fallon a reason to tweet "Gameday4Frank" next Thursday such as--#Gameday4Frank (insert traditions that deserve a great send off).

Couple it with one of Beamer's goofy post-game dances and you've got a shot. Fallon is a comedian after all. Give him a chuckle and it might just work.

Facebook has a cool feature where you can type in words to have it pronounce your name (Click Edit About in your profile - and it should be Pronounce Name)
You can change it to pronounce anything you want - in this case it could say "Game Day" (first name) "For Frank" (last name)
Not sure that will strike a movement or even get realized, but it's cool nonetheless.

For College Gamedays Facebook page, the last 10 pictures that they posted, I'd say 90% of the comments are #Gameday4Frank related. I think we will wear them down.
Also scroll through the "posts by visitors" on the sidebar. Huge Hokie turnout there. I posted the other night and got 30 or so likes on it.
Gotta say unless I'm really missing them I've only seen one active NFL player tweet something out about this. Felt like there would be more.

Post numerous pictures of school spirit with the #GameDay4Frank and the screengrabs that BillDozer pulled today.
One of the factors that GameDay must value/factor is attendance. If we can further demonstrate a likely large/record breaking attendance, this might push it over the edge.
I am too far away and disconnected on social media to spearhead any effort but I think the students and those local to Blacksburg need to organize a mock GameDay Rally sometime later this week on the drillfield (Thurs eve?). The university could even get behind it and help promote and organize. A designated GameDay stage area or mock set could be created near the 4/16 memorial on the drillfield and students and local supporters could show up in masses at event time to chant/cheer/drink and document the event. Then every one of those attendees could share photos, etc. through every social media outlet and bombard the internet. The key to success would be getting thousands of people which I believe could be easy if the right people adopt and spread the word. But time is definitely the enemy for a concept such as this.
Just an idea I came up with yesterday and wanted to share. Have been an avid reader and addict of TKP for years but I rarely post or comment.
I think there's at least a 75% chance we'll get #GameDay4Frank and bought some poster board tonight... Help me think of something creative to make a sign. So far I'm thinking about:

Dallas/Ft Worth Chapter is on Twitter, but no posts since 2011. Austin Chapter lists Facebook page but it appears to not exist. Sad state of social media for our alumni chapters.
I've friended every Hokie Club and alumni group in Texas. Now when does Sportscenter announce where they will be Sat?
Most announcements are made late Saturday/early Sunday the week before. So we have to keep this up all week.

I have no idea about what Sportscenter does; I'm following what Lee Fitting does on Twitter.
But the "Sportscenter on location" shoots are GREAT chances to get seen. They go to a different campus than Gameday and have much much smaller crowds. If we could get people to both places with signs the reach would expand greatly.
I just emailed the DFW Alumni Association President. I am the current / former president of the Central PA chapter (just moved to DC), so I can also reach out to my liason to see if there are other contacts we can reach out too.

I contacted the Presidnet of the Dallas Fort Worth Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, and she confirmed her interest in promoting #GameDay4Frank in Waco this weekend. She is preparing a social media and email recruitment notification to find others willing to travel to Waco for a few hours.

Just when I thought Beamer couldn't do anything else for the benefit of VT football, he decides to hang it up BEFORE reaping all the benefits of those historic games (Bristol and ND). The man knows no limits to the level of self-sacrifice for the benefit of VT.
