Keep a close eye on the type of plane that is being used for these arrivals. Can't imagine any big time coaches rolling in on anything other than a jet of some form.

It would be interesting to know the logistics of how these types of meetings happen without the media catching on. Do they meet at some random hotel/conference center in between the 2 locations? I wonder who else from VT goes along with Whit?

A few thoughts....1. Agree w/beng30, prospective hires likely wouldn't be interviewed in Blacksburg. 2. Agree w/VT_Warthog, you gotta look at the planes if you want to accurately create baseless rumors. Virginia Tech owns a couple of aircraft, the one most used by athletics is a Cessna Citation V, registration no. N69VT. Knowing that, you will not see it used during the coaching search. As I recall, when the offensive coaches were overhauled, there were several flights using a jet registered to Shelor Automotive Group that caught my eye. These were likely chartered by the athletic dept. to ferry people to and fro. But that was assistant coaches, who would not be as well-known as HC candidates. I'm guessing the way this goes down is Whit drives to Roanoke, hops an executive jet charter/timeshare (these are usually shown on flightaware as being registered to companies such as XOJet and FlexJet. These types of companies charter flights with corporate jets such as Citations, Learjets, and Gulfstreams. There is little if any info on who is on board such flights, and they end up being somewhat anonymous on flight tracking sites like flight aware. Or one of these flights comes into Roanoke, and Whit meets there with potential candidates. Now if anyone wants to truly delve into the black world and do some heavy duty intel, track Whit.

^^ What he said, Tech has a share on a couple Cessna Jets ( a Citation V and Citation Bravo) and Shelor used to have a Beechcraft King Air they kept in the hangar at BCB. Not sure if they still have it. But if they were flying in "secrecy" I guarantee you they would charter or fly on an aircraft that has their tail number blocked from public tracking sites by the FAA.
