I really should have brought a sign. Nobody in our section had any issues with "Thanks Frank" signs or anything else. Some folks down below even had a big banner, though that may have only come out after the game was over. In my opinion, I say bring signs. The worst they can do is take them away, but I imagine most security will let them through. Just don't be a jerk and keep them down when the game isn't being played of course.
Oh, and I tried to start a #GameDay4Frank chant at the end of the game, but it didn't take off. Oh well.
On TV I heard "Let's go Hokies" and "Beamer" chants.
Had to ask. Fwiw, CFB Daily just had David Pollock call in this afternoon from Atlanta. Apparently, the picture he took with Beamer last night and tweeted is the first time he has ever done that with a coach of a team that he is covering for a game. He promised a lot more about Frank and his legacy this evening which is to be expected. Then, ESPN showed the Star Wars poster that Buzz put together for #GameDay4Frank and said that the Hokie fans are doing everything that we can to get this to happen. So I guess that they are trying to help us out by making news of it?

nice, since graduating, I've lived in two different places, one 2 hours away from my parents, and currently an hour and a half away, so dad and I don't get the opportunity to watch too many games together (usually can get together for 2 or 3 a season), but when we can't get together we text back and forth about the game throughout it.
The gf isn't into football, so I got no one to talk to at home about whats going on in game, lol...

Went to the '09 game in Atlanta.
We were very surprised by the behavior of the GT fans. I don't know if it was because they had beaten the #9 team in the country that night; but we really didn't expect to get beer cans and small liquor bottles thrown at us there. WVU or Pitt, got it, but really threw us for a loop.
Ee were actually #4 if I remember correctly. Yeah, they were pretty awful that night... the whole stadium was. Even the police officers were being assholes. I was on the field for that game (photographer) and after an officer saw me talking to a fan in the stands during halftime, he asked to see my credential. Only person I saw all night that he did that to. When fans stormed the field and basically tackled the hokiesports photographer while throwing middle fingers at the VT section, the cop, who was standing right there, did absolutely nothing. Smiled and pretended he didn't see it.
I really don't like Georgia Tech from that night. Lots of terrible experiences. I remember the SID in the pressbox after the game lying to Heather Dinich when she asked if the students tore down the goal posts, they said they were collapsed immediately for safety (which was a lie).
But I'm not sore about it or anything. lol.

We had such a good team that year. Those GT and UNC games were heartbreaking. Almost beat Bama, #4 and came out completely flat for a half against GT and then let them hold the ball essentially the entire 3rd qtr.

A few years ago the most of the online streams were shit. There are some good subs on Reddit to find high quality streams. Usually you can get a great HD VLC network stream for most primetime games.

I'll be going over to my buddy's house. Most games, he comes to my place since I have a toddler and day games always hit during naptime.
It's the same buddy who hasn't seen VT win on his own TV since 2011 or earlier. Well, except for that bowl game against Rutgers, but even that felt like a loss. Hopefully we can reverse that trend.

I finally tried Eagle Rare, and it's damn good. Even as a major Buffalo Trace and Bulleit booster, Eagle Rare may have to fit into the rotation.
I'll have to try it for sure - you're the second or third person to recommend Eagle Rare.

Eagle Rare is some good stuff. I'm partial to Jefferson's Very Small Batch though.
Jefferson's Very Small Batch is what i'm currently rolling with - it is excellent stuff, and will taste even better when we beat the Jeffersonians in 16 days.
It's one of my favorite's at the moment. Eagle Rare is always a solid go-to though. So are Knob Creek Single Barrel Special Reserve and some Shieldaig Speyside 12 yr.
My UVA co-worker was telling me that he hopes we win tonight and lose to UNC and that UVA wins their next two so that the VT-UVA game is a "winner goes to a bowl and loser doesn't match up". I don't know if I could handle that.

Eagle Rare is my go to bourbon. I have tried lots of much more expensive bourbon, but I think it is as good as anything out there (especially for the money). That said, I'm drinking Wild Turkey 101 tonight.

They are wearing Navy throwbacks to honor the 25th anniversary of their 1990 Split National Title*. So it's color on color, Navy vs Orange. Don't worry, this won't look like UVA's spring game though. There will be fans at this game.

Bought and tried it already. It's pretty good, but I cant taste too much of the salt or brownie. It's about as dark of an ale as you can get and it does have a caramel taste to it. It wasn't bad, but I won't be splurging another $12 for a 6 pack. At least some of it goes to charity which is how I sold the purchase to the wife.

no. Most 6-packs are $10 or less, even all the other New Belgium beers. That specific beer was just $11.99
Side note: I went to Food City before the game and got a pick 6 for $9.99. Filled it with 4 of those beers and two other beers priced over $9.99 per 6-pack. Suckers!

This is interesting. My youngest son swims winter at the Y, and every Thursday night that the Hokies have had a game, and I've been the one who has to pick him up from the Y during the 1st qtr, the Hokies have won. Pitt last year was before swim season.
Tonight he's driving to swim practice... damn time flies. I might just go hang out at the Y for a few minutes in the 1st qtr just to cover my bases, or would I be inflicting the Double Ironic Intentional Jinx if I did that?

Champs is usually good for sports. Big Al's tends to be a lot of the greek crowd.

Big Al's was 100% greek when I was there. Sharkey's, Hokie House, and the Cellar are about the only ways to avoid that crowd now.
Big Al's is only Greek at night on the weekends. During the day and most of happy hour, it is pretty dead or townies playing trivia. Shout out to Taco.

I have a theory that the triples are not really triples. I think it is just more soda/mixer in comparison. I think the doubles are the most bang for your buck.
I believe triples are technically illegal in VA. I heard it somewhere in the rumor mill however, two singles is the same price as a double. That cannot be argued and they have great returns.

Just a piece of advice regarding colds and daycare...prepare for it to last the entire season. My son has had one since the end of September. Sure, it's not nearly as bad, but the runny nose, coughing, etc. will continue for a while. Good luck!

A friend of mine on my freshman dorm hooked me up with tickets to the 2011 Thursday night game in Atlanta and it was an awesome win. I considered getting some tickets and making the trip again (just under 2 hours for me) but I will likely be watching from home tonight. At least I won't have to deal with Atlanta traffic this way.
