Georgia Tech Celebration Thread

In a nice change of pace from the usual vent threads, although it wasn't pretty, the team managed to pull one out at the last second and grant a win for Beamer's last Thursday Night appearance. It also helps that we basically knocked Georgia Tech's bowl streak out, although it is still technically possible if all bowl slots aren't filled up.

Share your thoughts about the game, celebrations, maybe vent a little bit if you really need to ;). This is a safe space!

Isn't that how Shane got here?

Hiyooooo!

I saw a lot of people on twitter bashing on Pete Moris after this happened, not that I care one way or the other, but just curious if anyone knows why people seem to dislike him? Did he do something tangible I don't know about?

I actually really like him. He is responsive to tweets, complaints and seems to be really pushing the social media aspect of things for the team.

He's pulling haaard for #GameDay4Frank.. I like him a lot thus far. If there really are a few people that don't like him I hope he doesn't pay much attention to it. I like what he's doing.

As do I. He's interacting a LOT with fans, RTing their stuff, commenting, etc. Shows great fan engagement.

No. Some people just don't like how he runs his Twitter account and the VT account.

Really??? Why?

Yeah that is what I am trying to figure out, I don't know what specifically it is that he does with his Twitter and VT accounts that makes people dislike him?

how many times do NFL games coincide with VT games?

Let's take this past Thursday as an example. There just happened to be an NFL game featuring one of the most beloved Hokies to play for VT (Tyrod Taylor). If his "NFL tweets" were about T-Mobile what's the big deal?

Onward and upward

Exactly.. The tweets are about former VT football players. I, for one, am certainly still interested in hearing about their success -- especially Tyrod.

Thanks for sharing that context.

#BUD4HC!!!

Let's Go

HOKIES

Bud Foster's defense let two drives get away from them. Then. Dominance. That unit was motivated and angry.

Can you imagine a whole team playing with that fire?

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

Can you imagine the defense arriving for the start of the game with that fire? Is it just me, or do we see this almost every week -- the defense stumbles around for a quarter or more like they just woke up with a hangover. Why can't Bud get them ready to run out on the field and play with passion from the opening kickoff?

"Our job as coaches is to influence young people's lives for the better in terms of fundamental skills, work ethic, and doing the right thing. Every now and again, a player actually has that effect on the coaching staff." Justin Fuente on Sam Rogers

I know, it's like he made an....adjustment or something

Virginia Tech Class of 2013
Mining and Minerals Engineering

Sailing the Eastern Seas....on a ship filled with sand....

Did he make the D start tackling better through that magical adjustment? It seemed more motivational than schematic.

Moto and our young corners have little to no experience against GT. It was them adjusting to their reads, the speed, etc. Edmunds couldn't set the edge in the first quarter, and Moto wasn't making the proper read and committing. The DL was pretty stout and they did their part the whole game. By the second quarter everyone was playing assignment football. I don't think it had anything to do with scheme or motivation. These guys were motivated just as much in the first quarter as they were the rest of the game. I really don't like it when people question the motivation of the team; maybe an individual player every now and then, but the entire team, come on. They're Hokies. They're competitive and they want to win.

Let's also keep in mind that they had to go out for the 2nd scoring drive prematurely thanks to another offensive turnover.

It was a microcosm of VT football throughout the years (save one or two seasons). Defense dominates and offense manages to not suck just enough to win the game. Really wish we could have paired Bud with an adequate counterpart on the offensive side while Beamer was here. Maybe we can still do it after he's gone.

Bud4HC.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

Bud said postgame that GT was showing new blocking looks in the first quarter that they had never seen. It was a tactical adjustment. I'm sure we'll see it in the film review.

"Exit light..."

I was just telling a trainer at my gym this morning that I never worry about the other team scoring in the first two drives of the game or the first drive of the second half. Those are the times where opposing coaches, who are also smart, come out with the game plan and/or adjustments that no one can predict. That Bud has demonstrated such a strong ability to adjust means he'll almost never let the game get away from us from a schematic standpoint (exceptions include Stanford Orange Bowl).

Stanford Orange Bowl was a little less schematic, and little more we can't cover three 6'7 tight ends.

Don't forget Stiney couldn't adjust to constant double A gap blitzes.

#TeamPeanutButter - because your cakes, pies, cookies, and ice creams are better with it!

I think you're right, they're hard to cover. But I seem to recall them running wide open down the middle of the field without anyone near them. Had they made closely-contested catches against our guys I would say we had them schematically but lost to them physically.

I think that definitely happened sometimes, and I was really making more of a joke than anything else. Big, athletic tight ends have long been a thorn in many of Bud's defenses schematically. However, I do have several mental pictures of Eddie Whitley and linebackers, hopelessly attempting to defend well thrown passes to those giants.

I need to print this comment and read it aloud before every game and at every halftime.

"Our job as coaches is to influence young people's lives for the better in terms of fundamental skills, work ethic, and doing the right thing. Every now and again, a player actually has that effect on the coaching staff." Justin Fuente on Sam Rogers

It has been true for years. The last time I truly worried about an early score was the '08 Orange Bowl against Cincinnati. They scored on their very first possession. And not once more after that.

It's how I see Hokie football. Start the game, kick the ball off, play a soft set to see what the other team does well. And after that, put a stop to it.

Orange Bowl had a lot more to do with losing Bruce Taylor I think. This defense can't function against running teams without a Mike playing at a high level

And Miami last year.

It did seem like Motu was getting eaten up by a lineman every play early. PJ clearly knew that getting off blocks was a problem for Motu. Then we saw Motu scraping free later in the game. I was wondering if that was a schematic change. I'm glad to hear it was.

Am I the only one who, when someone says (or types) Motu, that thinks of this guy?

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

tackling was the issue on the 1st drive. they couldn't even get a finger on the guy. it seemed more mental errors to me with 2 new guys starting in Edmonds at LB and sheggog at whip? no Clarke no RVD.

The mullet is not going anywhere so I applaud the quick scoop.

The defense really stepped it up tonight after the first quarter.

On the other hand, GT is sort of a dumpster fire.

Just an awesome team win. The defense really showed up tonight, especially when we really needed them. They had a couple of bonehead penalties, but kept the GT offense out of the endzone after the first quarter.

They gave away five first downs on penalties. That is ridiculously undisciplined football.

Edmunds and JCC just need to stop getting carries.

I think UVa outrushed GT when they beat them as well.

I think UVa LOLUVA outrushed GT when they beat them as well.

FTFY

Let's Go

HOKIES

Edmunds, yes. He's the most tentative short-yardage back in the history of football.

JC, I wasn't too upset with. Travon apparently needed a breather and we let JC do something he's good at. No problems for me on that one.

I think JC was just misused, once again on 2nd and long running towards the sideline. Loefler always draws up those plays for him and they're just not good plays.

I just sit on my couch and b*tch. - HokieChemE2016

Look at the types of runs he had so much success with at the end of last year. That's what he ran last night. So play design/selection isn't getting me all riled up.

One each, and one for Motley. Five for Sam. All the rest (actual running play carries) went to Travon. It's almost like, 2/3 of the way through the season, the OC and RB coach figured out how to handle their players.

"Our job as coaches is to influence young people's lives for the better in terms of fundamental skills, work ethic, and doing the right thing. Every now and again, a player actually has that effect on the coaching staff." Justin Fuente on Sam Rogers

We have got to stop putting Motley in and running the keeper nobody is falling for it. They better prep putting Motley in, faking the keeper and throwing the bomb against UNC.

As much as I hated the timing of it tonight, I don't mind Loeffler pulling that out once in a while to A) see how well they prepared for it and B) if they do something we can easily exploit there. If it doesn't work and you don't see something you like, put it away and save it for later. I'd just prefer not to leave Brewer with a 3rd and 10 after that experiment. Now, I'd really like to see us throw Motley in on a first down or 2nd and short and run a little play action off of that look and take a deep shot against UNC or UVA.

It just really bothers me that we have put Motley in, maybe 5 plays the last couple of weeks, and run the exact same play each time. He was our starting quarter back for like 5 weeks! Trust him a little if you're going to put him in the game, Loeffler!

Put in Donlon

You're right. If you put Motley in, let him run a series.

I agree. Motley made some good throws and only really had one bad throwing game if I remember correctly.

Open it up a bit when he's in!

We can put a horse on a treadmill, can't we combine the pocket savvy, anticipation and defensive awareness of Brewer with the mobility and arm strength of Motley?

Mich-den Brew-ley?

Let's just hope that's pronounced "Dwayne Lawson"

β€œWhen life knocks you down plan to land on your back, because if you can look up, you can get up, if you fall flat on your face it can kill your spirit” David Wilson

Seems like the whole jet sweep thing from the beginning of the season. I bet we get a huge play off the fake qb sneak in the next two weeks

My issue is he never looks like he's trying to make the read. He comes on the field with his mind already made up that he's keeping. Scot either has to stick to Brewer or diversify Motley's role a little bit. Otherwise we're going to keep ending up with 3rd & long on those multi-QB drives.

I would root for the Russians before I would root for Virginia.

Everyone and their mother knows that Motley is in the game for one reason and one reason only. To Run. My hope is that Loeffler is doing this "long-con" nonsense on purpose and we'll see Motley run the ball again a couple times next week against UNC. When we play UVA, though, Motley is gonna come in and hit Ford on a Go Route for a long TD to set the tone early.

#aGuyCanDream

Onward and upward

I always think (or hope) this too but the times when mot was the starter and he ran the lil fake qb dive where he looks to almost take a knee and then pull back to out to make the throw (the ole tebow move) it looks to slow and robotical that the defense either reads it easily or has time to recover and its never quite as open as we or maybe just I think (or hope again) that it should be.

Man, what happened to GT this year? I thought that they had the horses and the mojo to be strong.
They suck.
GREAT job by Bud and his defensive adjustments. I hope he gets a shot b/c he's a Hokie and I love Hokies.

Everyone thought they could plug in anyone with two legs at A and B back and do well. Johnson said as much at media days too. That combined with defensive injuries derailed them in a hurry.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

To be fair, they also lost their two best players for the "A" & "B" backs, plus all the injuries. All in all, a severe rebuild year for GT.

Go Hokies!

They never had the horses. They graduated their horses.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

They totally overachieved last year. Their defense was awful then too, but they seemed to catch everyone on an offense nadir. They had experienced receivers, Thomas played great and that B back they had was really effective as the season went on.

Chris Coleman on TSL said it in his preview, they should think about firing Johnson. It's not going to get much better and they have a huge rebuild when they do fire him. Besides, he's an asshole.

Yeah, as I recall, I think it was Mason that pointed out that in 2014, GT ran (statistically) the best offense in the history of college football. Had a LOT of things go their way last year, so a decline was a virtual certainty, compounded by key losses and injuries.

"Exit light..."

I'm honestly shocked we've seen nothing about him possibly being on the hot seat. I mean, this season was AWFUL for them, and they could potentially lose out. That wouldn't surprise me at all. Last year they got lucky, but this year wasn't even a lack of luck. It was just that they are a bad team. And Justin Thomas had a little pre-season Heisman hype after last year.

I guess last year is still playing big for him.

They are awful. VT had a clinic on "how to lose a football game" and still, GT seemed determined to be worse.

I suppose. I've heard no substantial talk of him being under fire other than the usual knee jerk stuff of "we suck! Fire Paul Johnson!" or "I hate the triple option. It's so old/stupid. And we fumble it too often." I have no idea what his contract is, but I have to imagine he got something out of last year's success. I don't even think beating FSU is enough since that is the only thing they can hang their hat on unless they pull together and beat UGA, who has gone downhill since losing Chubb.

Good point. If they beat UGA, all is forgiven.

"Our job as coaches is to influence young people's lives for the better in terms of fundamental skills, work ethic, and doing the right thing. Every now and again, a player actually has that effect on the coaching staff." Justin Fuente on Sam Rogers

If they hire literally any other coach in the nation except Ken Niumatalolo, the rebuild they would be embarking on would be gargantuan. They would be terrible for years of offense regardless of who they hired, because A) Every single player on offense, from the "lie down aggressively at the snap" offensive line to every skill position player, has been recruited to run the flexbone, and B) Georgia Tech isn't enough of a recruiting draw to be able to bring in a class or two and restock with talented underclassmen who could be good in three years.

They're in with CPJ for the long haul. Better to wait out this disaster of a season and rely on the fact that they are guaranteed to be in contention for the Coastal crown within two seasons, just because that's the way GT has been since they hired him. This down year is just worse than most, but they'll be decent again soon enough.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

I think Niumatalolo would be a good hire, but that probably would mean they concede to being a triple option style team and not committed to moving forward towards a title again. At some point they have to almost hire a sacrificial lamb who will start the transformation back to a modern offense for 3-5 years, do poorly because he has to start from the ground up, and then make a strong hire after him.

If you are going to hire Ken N. and keep the triple option, why bother? If they ever fire Johnson, they have to go back to a more normal system.

I am just laughing because they fired Chan Gailey for never beating Georgia and not being better than 7-6. But Johnson will now have had multiple losing seasons and has a pretty bad record against UGA as well.

But if they get rid of the triple option only 60% of the FBS schools without "University" in the name will be running the triple option!

(I got BC but missed the service academies when they asked that question. Anyone else?)

Best duos in Hokie history: Hall & Adibi, 3rd & Tyrod, Georgia & Liz

I've heard that trivia question a few times. Trust me, you'll never forget it.

My friend and I watching the game got Boston College, but then figured that saying "FBS" was a clue, so we started going through the Group of 5 conferences. Good thing we started with the American, because once we hit Navy, we realized what the other two were.

The problem with the CPJ situation is that he has GT by the (chin)balls and he knows it. Heck, even if he wants to retire after a good year, GT is in a terrible spot for moving on, because they only have system guys. At some point, they have to bite the bullet, but only if the fans donors get upset enough.

"Exit light..."

I was going to reply with a picture of the "ballchinian" from Men in Black but I felt that all of the pictures/gifs may have been too inappropriate.

Using /s is for cowards.

At some point, they have to bite the bullet, but only if the fans donors get upset enough.

There's the rub. I'm sure the fanbase is disgruntled right now, but in general, CPJ has brought a lot of success to GT. It's just up and down based on the players he has on offense. If they were consistently terrible, they'd bite the bullet and start the rebuild, but CPJ has taken the Bees to more ACCCGs than every other Coastal team without the word "Tech" in their name. GT fans aren't delusional about their place in the landscape of college football. They are perennial contenders in the Coastal. Firing CPJ would mean giving that up for a LOOOOOONG period of irrelevancy in the hopes of taking the next step of actually winning when they make the ACCCG. That means elevating GT to the position of Clemson and FSU.

Do you see the GT president and AD making the kind of investment that would require? That's more than just a coaching change; that's a massive investment in facilities and recruiting, at a school that is unquestionably second fiddle in their own state.

IMO, it will take multiple years at this level of failure before they consider pulling the trigger on a coaching change.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

And chinballs always pulls a winning season out of his jowls just when his job requires it the most.

If they had sucked last year, then maybe the seat might be getting warm now.

Basically, he's good when he's got a good QB surrounded by seniors. He's basically gonna get first pick of option QBs as the only P5 program running that offense, and he's gonna have mostly upperclassmen every 3-4 years. Notice he has made the ACCCG every three years, the only exception being last year he made it a year early.

It's really hard for him to put together back to back good seasons, but it's also hard for him to suck two years in a row.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

Five year contract extension at $3 mil/yr will keep a coach off the hot seat, when you don't have a booster or two who will foot the bill for the buyout. GT has the highest pct of grads who are millionaires, of any university in the country, but they don't give to the FB program like boosters at SEC schools do.

It was two or three times and it was beautiful. That's what happens when everyone stays with their assignment

fraternities suck........go beamer, go bud

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

I was thinking more about Motuapuaka this morning and I think is he had gone to a Bill Bradley-PSU-type defense, he would be the top LB in the country. They allow their LBs to be really aggressive and set up the MLB to make plays like we set up the Whip, and Moto would thrive in a defense like that.

I texted a buddy last night that Motuapuaka only does two things: Create turnovers and find creative ways to get blocked. But he sure as hell didn't get blocked on that one pitch last night. pwned that kid.

Justin Thomas 15 Ca 52 YD 3.5 YPC 0 TD

Awesome job by him and the O-line. Shame we didn't use him more exclusively all year

Good things happen, when he's given the ball. This isn't a difficult concept to grasp. Whoever inherits the program next season, will have weapons aplenty.

McMillian is a straight man!!! He is awesome. Moto had a great second half. Came out blasting dudes. So glad for this win. I can't stand playing GT, they are horrible this year and of course is coincides with us being horrible. I can't wait for us to straight blow them up one year. I hate having nail biters every year no matter what with them. And of course it's always an important game to.

I think you contradicted yourself here.

was thinking the worst down 2, but hell yeah. Defense locked it down in the 2nd half. Well earned, men.

My thoughts exactly. We play them every year as does UGA but we never beat them silly like how the Dogs do.

Brewer had his worst game so far throwing the ball, and we still won. I hope he can have two good games to finish, would be sweet to beat UNC for #gameday4frank

But that back shoulder TD he threw to Ford was stellar! Incredible placement only to come back and throw an interception in stride to a GT defender. I just don't get it.

He missed several throws that we know he can make and he missed a few reads which is typically his strong point. I hope he just needed to get a bad game out of his system

exit light

Brewer doesn't feel comfortable winning until he's thrown an INT. Remember last year?

"Our job as coaches is to influence young people's lives for the better in terms of fundamental skills, work ethic, and doing the right thing. Every now and again, a player actually has that effect on the coaching staff." Justin Fuente on Sam Rogers

yep - instead of punting on 4th down when we have the ball around mid field or just out side of field goal range, can we just have him throw an interception then? essentially it would be a punt and then we're sure to win.

I hope he can have two three good games to finish

if you press and hold on a picture, it should bring up a menu. Select Copy. Then hit paste where you would normally paste the URL and it should drop the URL. That worked on mine (haven't tried it recently though)

For the love of God can we please get rid of these helmets. It was cool for a game but it is an awful helmet to use for the season. At times the maroon looks like purple/pink. Hopefully it's gone after this year.

I've been thinking the same thing. I figured they'd have auctioned them off by now.

But but but we are 5-1 in these helmets and 0-4 in all other helmets...

Personally I think they are some of the best helmets we've had in a while. I've been wanting them to auction them off since they were announced, but now it seems like they are making it into the rotation a little more permanently since we've worn them for 6 games and I'm A-OK with that.

I like the helmets as well. They have all of our colors. That being said, my second favorite is the classic Maroon only helmet.

I like them. Also besides the fact we're 4-1 5-1 with them, we also won wearing orange jerseys.

I really like them. I think they are a good pair with the shoulder stripe look we have.

Would you like Prys with that?

I hate them, they look like bike helmets.

Is it troll-ish of me to put the score on the white board outside my door? I should probably add that I work at Georgia Tech and am sporting my maroon and orange today as well...

Of course it is. Which makes it that much better.

I'll be offended if you dont put the score on the white board outside your door

The Jackets' final eight drives went as follows: punt, punt, fumble, punt, fumble, fumble, punt, turn over on downs. They gained 128 yards in the final three quarters, and their 258 aggregate was their lowest against the Hokies in coach Paul Johnson's eight seasons in Atlanta.

"Exit light..."

Wow, that's an impressive stat. I'll admit, I thought the defense would fold after the first quarter, but Bud made some great adjustments. What irks me is the fact that we locked down on D and dominated the bees, yet we only won by two. This should have been an easy victory. Why our offense continually makes every defense we face look way better than they are, I have no idea.

The game was one pick 6 away from being a win by 10 or more. Not sure we made them look better than they are, we just made ONE mistake that was costly.

That mistake by Brewer was a terrible throw where he locked his eyes on Bucky the whole time and threw right into coverage. And Brewer wasn't exactly sharp throwing the ball last night. Missed a ton of deep shots and some that should've been picked. Our D constantly got us the ball in great field position and created turnovers after the 1st quarter. The game shouldn't have been this close the way Bud had us playing after the adjustments. GT's defense is atrocious. Our playcalling on offense was at best inconsistent and downright bad at times. Way too many 3 and outs and empty possessions.

I'm not 100% convinced that Bucky was running all the right routes yesterday.

That one play where he and Phillips ran the same route 3 yards apart sticks out. Brewer threw that right at Phillips who was past the 1st down marker but Bucky reached back and deflected it.

He may not have consistently run the right routes, but that pick six was a pass that shouldn't have been thrown. He stared down Bucky and threw it right to the defender. That was on Brewer.

Minor correction: he was staring down Ford and tried to throw it low and away to him, but the defender was trailing Bucky and stepped right in front of it. So the pick-6 actually had nothing to do with Bucky, who was just running underneath. Ford was open beyond the defender, but it was just a badly thrown ball.

"Exit light..."

I stand corrected. I knew he telegraphed the pass to one of the receivers, thought it was Bucky. Brewer stared down his receivers a couple of times last night; usually he's not too bad about that. That back shoulder TD to Ford was a thing of beauty, though.

that pick six was a pass that shouldn't have been thrown

That's incorrect. Bucky had 3 steps on his defender and it would have easily had at least a 6 yard gain. Whether Bucky ran the wrong route or it was just a bad throw, that was absolutely the right read, just wrong placement. Watch the play here at 1:28 and see that he's the open man.

EDIT: With regards to what GuitarMan is saying about Ford, the video highlight above is inconclusive about that since Ford is out of frame.

Yeah, hard to see from that angle. I'm basing what I said on the postgame quotes from Brewer and Loeffler about what Brewer was trying to do. I can see Isaiah for a split-second in the highlight video and he looks like he has a step to the inside, but it would have taken an absolutely perfect throw to actually hit him.

"Exit light..."

That's fair. It was too late and I was driving home for me to be able to catch all the post-game interview stuff. It would make sense if that throw was towards Ford since the guy was directly between Brewer and Ford when he caught it, but I thought Bucky had the edge and something went awry. In the end it didn't matter, but boy was that a frustrating way to start the half. At least the Jackets kept from wrambling and instead got wrecked by fumbles and Bud's D.

It looks to me that the throw was behind Ford as well and would have been picked off by the other GT corner.

From that, it looks to me like he actually was trying to get the ball to Bucky. You can see Ford around the 1:32 mark. That's a really tight window to fire the ball into to get it to Ford. It's hard to tell, but it looks like he was looking for Bucky from the get go. The ball was also badly thrown, and the defender reads Brewer's eyes and makes a great play on the ball. Had he checked down to Rogers on the screen there at the top of the video, he may have been able to pick up the first.

I agree, though, had he put the ball in front of Bucky it could have been a completion. It looks less like a bad read and more a product of telegraphing the pass/poorly thrown ball. Still, there is an unaccounted for defender on the bottom of the screen, and the linebacker is right on Bucky. Little margin for error with that throw, and it probably wouldn't have gotten the first.

He should have thrown it to Danny Coale. He's always open.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

It was a catch!

Best duos in Hokie history: Hall & Adibi, 3rd & Tyrod, Georgia & Liz

Give GT some credit. They were playing with a lot of intensity and emotion since this loss just put them on the outside looking in at bowl eligibility. They were certainly aiming to play the best game of the year so far. Given that it's a rivalry, crazy things happen.

Our playcalling on offense was at best inconsistent

I don't agree with this. We consistently threw on 1st down. CONSISTENTLY.

Onward and upward

We ran a few times on first down as well, but I would 70% of the time we did pass.

While Brewer did miss on those long shots, I would much rather he overshoot than undershoot.

Don't forget we missed a 40yd fg as well as an XP. We could have been up by four more even with the pick six

Right, but that ONE mistake is the one that you go back to and say "we were a couple plays away from winning" had we not won. People HATE that phrase, but it isn't wrong at all.

Tell me how we made Boston College's Defense (Ranked #1 at the time) look better than it was.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

What irks me is the fact that we locked down on D and dominated [Insert opponent], yet we only won by [Insert low number]. This should have been an easy victory.

I feel like we've been saying this for years. Now I has the sads.

"Virginia Tech: Our trees have more school spirit than your students."

I looked at it opposite of Teel. They had 143 yards in the 1st quarter. After that, 76 more came in the 3rd, but after the 1st quarter, their longest drive went 45 yards and ended with a fumble. The second half for them was fumble, punt, fumble, fumble, punt, TO on downs. They last scored offensively with 1 minute remaining in the 1st quarter. As frustrating as it is to watch when they gain 8 yards on a running play, it's hard to actually appreciate the job that Bud does in shutting them down until you look at the numbers.

The look Frank gives in the interview at the end should become one of those giant heads people use to distract free throw shooters.

Just had a hilarious mental image of a couple hundred of these bad boys going up at the same time to make a wall of googly-eyed Frank in the NEZ.

"Exit light..."

A galaxy of Frank heads, if you will.

This really needs to happen in Cassell this year. What a fitting tribute. There's also this fine example.

By the way, VTGuitarMan, the Ben & Jerry's beer was pretty good. A very dark chocolatey, carameley brown ale. There was a nice contrasting bitterness which I guess represented the salt in the salted caramel.

Sounds like it's worth a try - thanks for the review!

And good point about this Frank face, too. Can you imagine the googly-eyed Frank next to "not bad" Frank here? Awesome.

I really wish I had the time to compile a collage of Frank's faces over the years. We have our 2 funny examples, plus countless who farted faces. Then you get into victorious and intimidating faces. Here are a few fine examples...

This sign needs to be in the crowd when Gameday is in town for the UNC game

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."

Despite playing relatively well, the bonheaded penalties and the poor play calling/utilization of certain players nearly gave me a heart attack. This season has been frustrating to say the least.

Bring on UNC

that was a very physical game, but its worth noting that GT was worse for wear at the end. They had multiple players on O and D what were staggering and limping by the end. That was good to see, we have lost our physicality over the years. I don't think Thomas wanted any more after that game.

I don't think Thomas wanted any more after that game.

I think Thomas was pretty banged up. CPJ went pretty pass happy there at the end and I think it had more to do with Thomas being banged up and us pretty much shutting down the B-back dive. Thomas had a few runs but he didn't look good when he was getting up from them.

β€œWhen life knocks you down plan to land on your back, because if you can look up, you can get up, if you fall flat on your face it can kill your spirit” David Wilson

GT was all about #Fumble4Frank. Lets hope UVA and UNC follow suit.

We are T-1st in nation for Fumbles Gained according to CFBStats.com with 12. We do seem to be forcing more turnovers this year than in the last couple of seasons.

So I didn't feel that this alone was thread worthy but can we take a moment to realize just how bad this game recap video is on ESPN...
