Some good games this weekend: UGA/Auburn, will Richt keep coaching?, Bama/Miss st, Memphis/Houston will one of these coaches be in Blacksburg next year?.
Teams to root for so #gameday4Frank has a better shot: Illinois, Maryland UNC, Iowa St,Baylor.

Include Pitt in the list of teams to root for. If Duke wins and UNC wins, then UNC has the Coastal locked up.
I know it's early in the KU/TCU game but it's not looking good for TCU. Then NCST is beating FSU.
Their QB is out.. no idea for how long
I'm rooting for Illinois not only because #GameDay4Frank, but because they've had relatively no impressive wins this year, and have barely won a multitude of them at that... I loved that Gameday sign at Tuscaloosa last week. "My class schedule is harder than Ohio Sate's schedule- Communication Major"
Also, the score doesn't show it, and Tennessee is for sure going to win, but North Texas is giving them a good game. Nice to see.
The good ole SEC cream puff in Nov.
It is painful to write this, but watching UGA play makes it clear that Isaiah McKenzie is the slot receiver that we have been missing. Big recruiting miss there.
Then again he's also been arrested so there's that...
He was never coming to Tech. He was going to go to Ole Miss, but then UGA offered him a day before signing day.
Friends tell me he was looking for compensation that we were not looking to give.
Well then the sec makes total sense ha ha
Lol at da nolies
anOSU and MSU are not passing the eye test here.
Kansas of all people have stopped TCU on two 4th down plays today, only ones TCU has missed all year.
USCe trying to make a game of it with about 3 minutes left
EDIT: nevermind
So USCe is out of bowl game contention. I really feel like Spurrierr did bad by that team. If I was a USCe fan I would be pissed.
They'd have to beat Clemson, and hope enough teams aren't bowl eligible to have any shot
Spurrier said one of the reasons he wanted to leave now rather than during the bye week or at the end of the season is so that Elliott could give the team a chance for success and rebuild.
Spurrier called himself a "recruiting liability"
Shawn has only been an OL coach, and co-OC 3 years, so says a lot about him to be given the HC title. Be interesting to watch where he goes and how far up.
Well that seems to have backfired if reports from recruits of USCe are to be believed.
Haha loluva.
Angry timecop
It was hilarious watching London plead for the 1 yard halo rule that hasn't been a thing for a few years, and then his team recovered an onside kick only to have it called back for an illegal formation. That was about as LOLUVA as a game can get.
Kansas still has a shot vs TCU with about 3 minutes left, if anyone is looking for a game to watch
EDIT: INT from Kansas, I should stop posting these, I seem to be a kiss of death
You should post a lot about Alabama and the state of Oklahoma for the rest of the day. Gotta target your jinxes.
Travon needs to have a nice Thanksgiving dinner before he sets the single game record at Scott Stadium.
Iowa State already up early on Oklahoma State
Ok St has looked sloppy.
So what would be better London on the sideline for LOLUVA for the VT game or him being fired this week?
Congrats to loluva on missing another bowl season
Recruiting for LOLUVA
Iowa State pulled off a flea-flicker for 30 yards. They are pulling out all the stops so far.
Marquise Williams shares his opinion on Da U:
First off, I hate "da U."
But hey Marquise, way to stay as classy as a UNC degree progr... um, never mind.
Iowa State's rushing attack is having their way with OK State. Up 24-7 with 9:29 to go in the 2nd quarter.
UNC is getting every call today.
Gonna be impossible to stop them and the refs next week
I would love for Frank just once to call out how bad ACC officiating is before he goes.
He won't because he is classy, but would still love it
There's just something about Iowa State. It's like Oregon State. They just pull off that upset that makes no sense and no one saw coming once every 2-3 years.
Miss. St with one of the worst special teams plays of the year. Awful punt combined with coverage team that didn't seem interested.
That might be that ballgame. These "mighty" SEC offenses are second only only to the "amazing" defense. Half of their teams look like the concept of a forward pass has been lost to them
Don't you know the whole conference is loaded! That's why UF struggled against Vandy and USCe.
I want unc to win, but I hope it takes about 4 overtimes to do it. My hopes aren't looking good right now though.
Da U is Bak?
Is Miami Bak?
UNC is the best program in the coastal right now and it might not be that close. Their recruiting has staying power and without us or Miami able to stem the tide I wouldn't be shocked to see them top 10 annually from here on out until Fedora goes elsewhere, if he ever does. Those momentum is second only to Clemson in the ACC right now and they have the name to do real damage.
Add in the fact you don't have to go to class and why would you not want to go there.
They're up 31 on Miami at half.
They are the class of the Coastal and the gap is huge. Joke all you want, they are that good.
They are. But they have 1 nine win season since 1997 or something like that. Let's see if they can be consistent, which is one thing they have not been year to year
It's a process. Only his 4th year
Fedora is at 30 - 18. Gone from 5th in Coastal to 3rd to now 1st
They were 6-7 last year, they need a little more consistency from the players and staff.
Gene Chizik has turned that defense around and they are playing to recruiting potential. As long as he is there with Fedora they are a force in the ACC. We absolutely have our work cut out for us in keeping up.
What's the latest on their NCAA investigation? I know it largely focused on basketball, but football was not immune and there is that specter of "lack of institutional control."
Of course, if Miami is any indication, the NCAA will do little or nothing, but there is still a wildcard here in terms of UNC's future and viability, it would seem.
NCAA is an absolute joke re. imposing real sanctions on institutions that matter. Nothing would make me happier than to see enough P5 teams say screw the NCAA and do their own thing.
Yeah, it'd probably turn to overt pay to play, but I'd rather have it out in the open that this BS from the NCAA turning a blind eye to things like Miami & UNC & the SEC & Oregon...
The list goes on.
In the end, seeing a supposed governing institution reduced to scraps due to its own internal corruption would at least give me some karmic salve.
I really dislike both of these teams and their schools' athletic culture.
Miami has quit. Why couldn't they do that after the FSU game like they usually do? Unc is trying to outdo Clemson in style points.
If we don't hit a home run with our hire, we are going to be playing second fiddle to North Carolina for a very long time in football. They have the resources to dominate our division.
Stealing Fedora from them would be awesome.
Because people would be OK with the 7/8 win seasons with a once every 5 year 10 plus win season?
Better than what our records have been for a few years.
Sure, UNC has had up-and-down games, but the whole knock against Fedora for "consistency" really doesn't resonate with me. He built up Southern Miss into a 12-win program. He's been on an upward trajectory at UNC and now he's seeing results. Would it be better to evaluate whether or not it's for real and can be sustained before judging him? Sure. But for now, he looks pretty successful from where I sit.
And I'll eat my crow if UNC has back to back 9 win seasons. But honestly are 9 win seasons even good enough at VT?
I've said it before, and I'll stick to it, that a program must continually challenge for its division and conference for multiple years before even thinking about being relevant nationally. 9 wins in the ACC is, normally, enough to contend for the Coastal. Yes, I would take that, provided that recruiting goes well and we see player development on both sides of the ball. A few 9-win seasons, a couple of ACCCG appearances, and we're rolling back where we used to be. So in the short term, yes. As a ceiling for the program, no.
Are back to back to back to back not 9 win seasons good enough for you Fireman? Because you have no issue with defending our current coaches.
Yea because a coach who has done what Beamer has gets some wiggle room.
You asked the question. If 9 wins arn't good enough at VT, then it shouldn't matter who the coach is.
That's not how coaching works. If the ceiling for a coach is nine wins, which is what Fedora has shown as his normal then he is not in the same league as a coach who set records for 10 win seasons, a trip to the NC game and 7 conference titles.
Not at all that's always been my push to move on. Weren't you wanting Frank to stay around. Because that's what Tech is 'BARELY' at right now.
The downward slide
Tech's shot at
National Championship Game 1999 - 2004
ACC Champions 2004 - 2010
ACC Championship Game 2004 - 2013
Jan 1 Bowl Game 1995 - 2011
A Bowl Game 1993 - 2015
4 year record of 27-22 and you play in a weak ACC conference schedule
Fedora is at 30 - 18. Gone from 5th in Coastal to 3rd to now 1st
But at the end of the day what we are talking about is You don't go through a 3 year rebuilt to have your 4th year be one more year next year. That just means one more year can be the excuse every year....like it has been
oh no, just heard Iowa State playing Enter Sandman!!! But that's our song!!!
Drew Barker really made a difference on that scoring drive for Kentucky. The change was needed from Towles, for sure. Barker went 3/3 passing on his first drive as a redshirt freshman and scored a touchdown... I hope to see him make a difference at Kentucky. I'd love to see them be bowl eligible. Go Wildcats!
Watching UNC the past few weeks like
Anyone else think it's weird that Klempon is wearing more orange than Syracuse? Their mascot is the ORANGE!
UNC has scored 111 points in just over 6 quarters against 2 teams that beat us
While I'm thoroughly enjoying watching UNC steamroll Miami, it is not instilling confidence for next week.
Vanderbilt just did a neat little trick play. I'm not good at describing things, but they pretended that all of their unit came out on the field but they hid a receiver just barely in bounds. Kentucky didn't notice and he was wide open for the touchdown pass.
GT did that a few years ago. It seemed kinda bush-league, but it is what it was.
It's illegal in high school and I wish it was in college.
Iowa State just don't want to help with #gameday4Frank
Considering the difference in that game was the referees taking away a clear touchdown, I'd say they tried.
ESPN2 Mich and Indiana goal line stand for the game!!
Win or lose, I like what I see from Houston with a back up QB in, I think I'd much rather have an offense that doesn't take 2 years for the QB to learn
So LSU gets a second loss, ugly one at that. What kind of poor strength of schedule does Bama have now to justify them being a one loss number 2?
BUT THEY'RE BAMA PAWWWWWWWL THEY HAVE TO BE THE BEST PAWWWWWWL
Sadly they will get to beat the every living crap out of a UF team with no offense in the SECCG and then ESPN can keep feeling good about themselves about being in the tank for Bama.
Only bright side will be that they will play OHio St. in the semifinal and one of those fan bases will be left whining all offseason
There's the slim chance that Ole Miss wins out and Bama loses to Auburn. In that case, Ole Miss would go to Atlanta.
A SLIM chance.
Another solid win for RichRod.
And the Pac 12's playoffs hopes are about as dead as disco right now.
Which means if the Big 12 continues their cannibalization there is a real chance that the playoffs are 1. Clemson. 2. tOSU 3. UF/Bama winner and 4. ND.
I'm tellin you keep your eye on oklahoma. They win out and I think they sneak in
