Nah I don't think well get him but this is big news. Adam schefter is reporting that signs are pointing towards the eagles and Kelly parting ways after this season.
This is huge for the big name college teams that might be in the running for a coach a la LSU UGA and of course USCw

Course the more I read into this the more it just sounds like schefter spewing crap out of his mouth. Still wouldn't shock me though

If he is gone USCw will snap him up FAST. I'm willing to bet the other Kelly (Brian) will get a shot if ND makes the playoffs somewhere in the NFL.
Miami is going to make a very hard push for him.
And fail astronomically. Miami's apparent favorites for their job right now are Mario Cristobal and Butch Davis, that should tell you the state of their program right now and how attractive of job they really are (hint: they aren't attractive at all, and I would argue that even LOLUVA is more attractive.)
Kelly is either bound for USCW, LSU, Texas, or FSU if Jimbo leaves for LSU.
I don't know why Jimbo would leave for LSU. He's got a good thing going in Tallahassee. He's won a championship more recently than LSU. He's got great recruiting tools at FSU. He's playing in a much less challenging conference where he's pretty much guaranteed at least 10 wins a year and a good shot at making the playoffs. And, even though the fans might be pretty noisy at FSU, they can't hold a torch to the insane fans at LSU. The second he loses a game at LSU he'll have crazies calling for his head. The stress level of the LSU job is waaaaaaaay higher and the benefits are not worth it.
FSU is quite arguably a better job than LSU, but there has been speculation for a couple years now that Jimbo ultimately wants to end back up at LSU when Miles were to leave. Looks like we are about to find out if that was true or not. I expect him to stay as well and logically there isn't any reason for him to leave, but things could possibly get interesting if he gives them an interview.
An FSU opening could steal one of our targets. Hermann might not be a long term fit at FSU... but I could see him taking that spot. If he stays at Houston til his dream job opens... that means someone else on the pecking order will fill the FSU slot.
I don't know that the FSU opening is for everyone. There is a taint about the school, the town, the whole way of living. Hopefully some of our targets don't want their babies to grow up in such an environment.
From what I understand, Miami's facilities are nowhere near other P5 level schools and Chip is coming from Oregon that has truckloads of $ funneled into that program from Phil Knight (Nike). I don't see any scenario where Chip Kelly winds up there. Just my $.02
The danger is that one of the coaches we want could view Miami as a better opportunity.
Sounds like the Miami administration is wanting to return to the small academic rich private school model, meaning Miami's spot will hopefully be evaluated lower than ours.
Some folks really like warm weather. Miami has great food. I don' t care for the place very much... but I could see a coach liking it there.
Is Kelly parting ways with the Eagles or are they parting ways with him?
I would think, that, if there is any truth to this, the Eagles are parting ways with him. Fact - Chip Kelly just closed on a 1.1 million dollar crib near Philly.
If he was thinking about quitting after that, I don't want him as our next head coach cause that's just dumb.
By the way, an interesting stat:
The last 2 seasons have only had 7 teams with 20 wins, and the Eagles are one of them. If the Eagles get rid of Kelly, that's a pretty dumb move.
Nor have they've made the playoffs which, given the free reign chip has, you figure they'd at least be on top of the nfc east by now
They won the NFC East his first year.
And over that time, he has systematically dismantled the unit which got those wins. I'm not an Eagles fan, but if I was, I'd be pissed. You trade away or let walk all your stars players out of arrogance that your scheme can overcome any and all personnel deficiencies. The Eagles have lost so much talent on offense (not just skill position - o-line too). He basically took apart the machine that Ried built, and remade the team in his own vision, and it's been a mess all year. And that's in an NFC East that is just atrocious this year (I mean, the Redskins are playing the Giants for first place this week - ew)
This is where many Eagles fans (myself included) have problems with Chip.
I am not upset about the QB situation necessarily, because finding a franchise QB is difficult in the NFL. And when you win 10 games your first 2 seasons, you are not going to be in a position where its really realistic to draft a potential franchise guy (unless you hit on a guy like Russell Wilson, Derek Carr, but very few other examples).
He took a shot on Bradford and it hasn't worked out, although Bradford was playing much better when he got hurt. Its getting rid of all of the other guys that is a problem and not really replacing them with anything. Although I wouldn't call what Andy Reid left a "machine". Those same players hadn't won a playoff game since 2008.
Well, aside from Ried's last year, they were definitely a winning team (and that year, they were wracked with o-line injuries, as I recall). Maybe they were only a machine from Washington's perspective (we're some sort of a perpetual failure machine), but I guess I meant that Chip took over a team that was pretty solid top-to-bottom.
Their records prior to Chip Kelly's arrival:
2006 - 10-6
2007 - 8-8
2008 - 9-6-1 (I think McNabb didn't know you could tie - haha)
2009 - 11-5
2010 - 10-6
2011 - 8-8
2012 - 4-12
It wasn't like that team winning 10 games was exactly unprecedented, or that it needed to be blown up.
It seemed to me guys like Jackson and McCoy fit what he likes to do.
The argument is that McCoy doesn't really fit what he likes to do, which is north/south power run game.
Which at least at face value Murray and Ryan Mahews fit the bill there. But Chip insists on running Murray out of shotgun ALL THE TIME, which is not his strength at all.
Especially along the OL. At this point, all the problems have been turned over and over by the fanbase so much that I don't even want to get into them anymore. This season has almost turned me off of the NFL entirely.
I could go on, but it's just really sad and I won't
As a Browns' fan, I concur with this statement.
My condolences for your loss.
The loss being every sunday.
In the NFL, you're really only as good as your QB.
Its not a surprise that the Eagles fell off like they did when McNabb started to wear down. It really is a QB driven league, and you're not really a true contender until you have a top tier QB. There's a reason both NE and Carolina are running away with home field this year, they have the 2 guys who have consistently played the best football under center this year.
Tom
Herman
Richard Campbell
the musician?
That was Glenn Campbell. Silly.
Richard Campbell
No, that's RICHARD Campbell. Everybody knows bass players can't coach D1 ball.
I mean GLENN Campbell. He's not coaching either.
Will they wait that long to fill a vacancy, or if its already known would the Eagles announce Kelly won't be returning and Kelly announce his new school and finish out the season. I guess he could always Petrino Philly and leave with 4 games to go.
...so he'd need to buy a motorcycle and find a blonde?
They're getting torched by a bad Lions team and they aren't adjusting to fix it.
I can't see him being there next year. That team is terrible right now and it's all on Chip. He's the Ruben Amaro Jr of football.
the way he is managing this game, looks like he is putting in his 3-hour resignation today
