If this was done for recruiting, maybe they should have put the ad in the Virginian Pilot instead of the Roanoke Times. Not a ton of talent coming out of Western VA

I also do not know how it would truly affect a recruit. I don't think gratitude towards Beamer will be anything more than a nominal factor in a recruit's decision.

Doesn't really matter nowadays. Online publications are available all over the state.
Further, if they wanted to be "classy", they would've done it privately without the need to make it publicly known to the masses. They WANT people to know about their good deed. Which is as noted very shrewd.

Seriously, tho, class act move by Jimbo. I really love the outpouring of support Beamer has received. It's definitely deserved! It just accentuates how special Frank is though. There will never be another like him. I'm gonna miss having him on the sidelines representing VT in the best possible way. #thanksFrank

I'm going to assume that "stealing" means getting a recruit from the state of VA. Jimbo has had a total of 5 recruits from VA, since he became head coach in 2010:
Levenberry '13, Nandi '14, Eberle '14, Taylor '15, Sweat '15.
On the flip side, we average 2 - 3 Florida recruits a year.
With great players like Dadi, Maddy, Ford, Hosley, Flowers, Clowney (I'm sure I'm forgetting some) and Lydon/Lawson TBD, I think FSU has more to gripe about than we do.
