12 potential positions came around and he didn't entertain anything but ours.
I'm sure LOLUVA offered and was returned a resounding hell no.
Or the even more enjoyable "lol no"
12 offers...12 straight over LOLuva...coincidence?
Probably, but Hoo cares. I'm just looking forward to a 1.3 Decades of Dominance shirt next fall. (seems to be the only TKP shirt that's worked out so far ;)
The number is...
Twelve!!!
Beamer is a hard act to follow
But guy seems humble and classy.....good fit for us
My better half just was told to prepare the ACC/VT bio for tomorrow morning's press conference.
I'm so excited for the day he stops referring to Hokies as "they" and rather as "we."

Anybody know if the press conference will be shown live anywhere and at what time?
10 AM, streaming on hokiesports.com
10 AM Monday morning is when my staff meeting starts!!!! Nooooooo!!!
Cancel the staff meeting
I moved that jank to tomorrow morning. Watching the live stream now.
empathizing/sympathizing -with you, whatever, shut up.
Our CCRI (read; DoD IT Security Audit) starts today... I'll just have to tell the firewall auditor to sit down, shut up, and watch history in the making on this here monitor to the right...
Well, I know what I'm going to be doing during government class
The entrance that hokiesports just played was awesome...
**Runs through glass pane door**
For some reason, I'm not getting it...
Edit, now I think I am, but it certainly wasn't an obvious route to getting there.
Are there playback opportunities for those of use who don't have access to the presser at work?
Anyone got a transcript or summary? Can't watch vids right now
I'm planning to follow on twitter, but would enjoy any other non-video/audio options to follow along.
I like Justin Fuente already. He embodies what the Hokies stand for. After bringing Buzz Williams, Coach Fuente is another great hire by president Sands and AD Whit. The future is bight!
I would have loved to be in the meetings with Whit and Fuente. Not to get the inside scoop and break news but to see how Whit does it. Whit could sell underwear to a nudist colony if he wanted.
Indeed. Whit just has that skill that I admire all the more because I don't have it.
Regarding underwear sales, that's an easy sell. "No more skidmarks on your chairs!"
Niiiiceeeee. VT new hire and they got to throw in a Star Wars plug with the interview. That's awesome.
...something....something...dark side.
Get it....because the interviewer sounds like he's from Star Wars?
I hope the first play he practices is the VicTory formation. That would send quite a message.
Completely in for Justin!
Whit had an excellent introduction for him and had amazing things to say!
LETS GO HOKIES!
I like his view on recruiting. "Recruiting is about people. It's also about the school and the university, the community, and the chance to succeed for the next four years of your life." He kind of sounds like this guy from Hillsville I know.
Love the comment he made about raising his 3 girls in Blacksburg.
He has 3 daughters? Poor guy.

"We've got to do a great job at mentoring young men. This is about the next 40 years and not 4."
-Fuente
In watching this press conference, I'm absolutely convinced that Fuente is the right man for this job.
I think the recruits, and their parents, will be as well.
Edit: Also, in watching him field questions, he knows when to hold 'em, and when to fold 'em. If someone asks a question he doesn't have the answer to yet, he'll say that instead of feeding the media B.S.
Completely agree.
He keeps talking recruiting. I love it.
When he said "Our AD" I got giddy like a little girl.
I like the way he talks about telling the Memphis players about his decision.
He faces it straight on. He met with them face to face, not like calling the players on the way out of town like a Randy Edsall.
Or like He who shall not be named did.
Rich Rod?
*ducks*
I'm so glad this is still used when RR is mentioned. Thanks for the laugh!
Always and

When that name comes up
So this new coach we got, he likes to run the Spread.
He has a hispanic name, too
And he's willing to keep all our defensive coaches, as that's not really his specialty.
That's right, we hires Justin Fuente
Now we wait for OC announcement...CJF (*patent pending) said he didn't call the plays this season.
CJF just interviewed on SiriusXM, says more assistants likely coming from Memphis after the bowl game.
Taylor ZarzhourChris Childers tried to imply (actually used the words) that he was "forced" to retain Bud Foster. Justin didn't fall for it. Ignored the question and just explained how he met with him several times, talked philosophy, and made his decision.Yeah it's really not that hard to believe that an offensive coach would prefer to keep one of the best DCs in the business if said DC is willing to play ball.
Also relevant:
Also also relevant, Bud never had a chance:
The plot thickens.
interesting plot twist.
So he interviewed with Illinois, but Illinois = Fuente, but didn't know that Illinois was Fuente until he was in the air?
Halfway to Memphis, Whit turns around in his chair to Bud on the private jet....
Was this just because Whit wanted someone with Head Coaching experience? Or something else?
Zarzhour was pushing the "surprised Bud stayed after being snubbed" line pretty hard during their 8AM segment on Sirius XM. Surprised me that 1) they're so out of touch with the internal reactions 2) they're working so hard to make a story here. It was surprisingly low content from one of the better talk shows on Sirius.
Thanks. Just realized I was listening to Full Ride with Chris Childers when the "forced" question was asked.
I don't think it was forced, but it's a very smart move by Fuente to not force out a DC that's super popular with players and fans if the DC is willing to stick around. If after a year the two of them can't work together and Bud moves on no one will be that mad at Fuente. But if Fuente's first big act as HC was showing Bud the door? That's something you'd have to be RichRod-level dumb to do.
It's also pretty smart to get the best DC you can, and there are few better than Foster.
