Page for 2016 class that Fuente is starting to make moves. Think we should just add the new offers and any pertinent information on the student athlete here.
Seems like VT could be seeing more kids from Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas. Mississippi and Missouri on the offer list. Incoming coaches seem to have some good connections there from their time at Memphis

It will be interesting to see how Fuente & Co. approach recruiting. I tend to think that he will try to pull in recruits from areas where he has an established presence/pipeline, while getting up to speed in VA and the Mid-Atlantic. Given the amount of homegrown talent, he will undoubtedly want to work his way into the traditional VT target schools, but seeing some midwest kids in the meantime could be interesting, and perhaps expand us to a more national strategy. Interesting times.
This is why I want to keep Burden on staff. His coaching mindset of producing well-rounded receivers who contribute as blockers seems to be a great fit for Fuente's spread. Plus Lynch has thrown for over 6,700 yards the last two seasons, so it isn't like Fuente never passes it. Burden has established relationships to the primary recruiting hotbed in Virginia, which I really think Fuente needs. When we were in dire need of wide receivers, Burden went out and got verbals from four of them. (I know one has since decommitted, and Deablo seems to be opening up his recruiting a bit, but that's all because of Frank's retirement, nothing Zohn did.) It seems like a great fit, and I could see Zohn Burden being Justin Fuente's Billy Hite, if that makes sense. I really, really hope he stays.
I could see Burden being retained for those reasons.
Agreed. I'm not sure if Burden is a good coach yet, but he has connections that are valuable. If Dickey stays at Memphis and Wiggins slides over to RB, Burden can coach WR's with the assist of having Wiggins and his WR experience on staff.
I think that if Torrian Gray is kept as well that means that you have three coaches Torrian Gray, Zohn Burden, and Wiggins who are young former players that are very easily relatable by recruits. I wouldn't discount the affect that would have especially in the 757. Pair that up with the influence of a high powered offense and I think that Fuente has something that he can really sell.
TG returning (or expected to). Would not be surprised to see him pursue a better job (i.e., DC somewhere else) in a few years. Did his daughter graduate from high school in Radford yet?
http://virginiatech.247sports.com/Bolt/Hokies-expected-to-retain-Torrian...
Patterson will recommit if we retain Burden
I've thought that since he decommitted. If he liked what we offered under Frank on offense, there is no reason he would not like what Fuente offers. But I do think what interests him most is being coached by Burden.
I'm going to play devil's advocate here. I think most of us expected much more growth in the WR dept. than what was shown this season. Bucky took a step backwards, Ford was still doing Ford things, Cam has been hot and cold all year and was visibly upset at halftime and after the game on Saturday, and no WR3 ever surfaced this year despite many thinking Knowles might be that guy or a new face like Bradshaw..
I get that he has important ties to the 757, but that doesn't make him a good WR coach. I know Moorehead is gone (really liked him as a coach) but if there is a better option on the Memphis staff, I'd like to see what he could do and possibly keep Zohn on as a recruiting asset.
Maybe Bucky with his talents was a better option than putting a WR3 out there. Would have been nice to see Bradshaw make progress though.
I kind of agree with Buck over a random WR3. I'd rather have another deep threat "burn the corner" WR out there, but of course we don't have one currently.
Brewer's arm strength had a big effect on the WR personnel. Also Bucky is a lethal down field threat but his effectiveness was hampered by that as well.
Think they valued a big target over deep threat wisely. Hopefully we have a guy that can stretch the field with his arm at QB in 2016
I am not sure Bucky took a step backwards as much as he was a "marked man" and received a lot more double teams and over under coverage. I think he actually developed a bit more well rounded game and was more involved as a blocker. Furthermore he was a tight end and thus was coached by Stiney rather than Burden.
I think Malleck and whoever that UVA LB was that Bucky took out will definitely agree with you about his blocking
What did Bucky take a step back from? He was completely lost half the time last year. He layed a block in the UVA game that we have all watched in gif form 300 times this week that may have single handedly won the game. Last year the WRs simply could not block and it was a real problem. Ford is setting records this year while only having the starting QB for half of the season. I would call that a pretty big success. Would it be beneficial to have a 4th and 5th wide receiver? Sure, but I wouldn't argue that made any impact on this season. It could have if Ford or Cam had gone down, but they didn't.
I think the big argument about 3rd/4th/5th string receivers is giving 1 and 2 a break rather then being on the field all the time. If we can get guys in there that can make a play without Ford or Phillips on the field it is a big boost to get those two back on the field to burn guys with a little rest.
agree with this. I think it's simply too early to tell what impact Burden had on any players, recruiting etc. It's an unfortunate situation for him, but he had to know coming in that this could be a short-term position with Frank on his way out. I would absolutely not retain a coach just for their current relationships, which haven't been netting us difference makers in the first place. Rather let the new coaching staff expand our recruiting territory and develop their brand then redirect their attention to locking down in-state talent when they have a better product to sell.
Clear thinking, well said.
I have no real opinion on whether Burden should be retained or not. But I do know that his resume looks better with a Sophomore 1st team all-ACC receiver on it than it did this time a year ago.
He'll land on his feet one way or another.
Yep, Burden can recruit, but apparently couldn't do anything with the "other" receivers on the team. Hopefully the case was he just couldn't work with that kind of talent.
its really hard to say what happened with the rest of the WRs on our roster. I mean I feel like you could send out demitri noles and he could run a route and catch the football and pretend to block and maybe a couple other folks. they have been playing WR their whole lives. if the talent level was that much of a drop of that we couldn't even get guys a rest and we had to bring stroman over to run jet sweeps when we had people on the roster who had previously done it maybe it was just these guys didn't deserve playing time? either their attitude or effort or something rubbed burden the wrong way. maybe they had developed such bad habits that they couldn't be broken at this point? idk I find it really really odd that not ONE WR made an appearance this season other than asante and that was in an emergency or garbage time. just a really really weird situation to me from a WR coach stand point.
At least 4 WR's caught a pass this year, that means that 2 others besides Ford and Phillips were on the field.
Asante and Knowles each had 1 catch all year. That really doesn't do much to support this argument. Sure, we're using TEs as receiving threats because Bucky's measurables and Malleck's sure hands, but when Brewer and Motley each have the same number of catches as the next guy with WR next his name, that really says we have no WR depth.
But they and I think Caleb and maybe one other WR were on the field for plays. Giving some "rest" to the two best by a WIDE managing WR's on the team.
What we really need is a breakdown of number of snaps played. Did Asante, Knowles, etc. play in addition to Ford/Phillips or did they replace them? That's probably something you'll only get from coaches' stats and video, but it would be interesting. Number of catches is a flawed metric, but it really is clear that we had 2 WR all season and a couple guys that came in for a couple plays.
Not disagreeing there. But both Ford and Phillips seemed to do just fine. But too many people get lost in absolutes and don't look at actual stats. Ford and Phillips were not the ONLY WR's to get on the field, they were just by far the best ones.
If a WR runs a route and nobody throws to him, does the defense even need to cover him?
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the dearth of catches by receivers not named Ford or Phillips is more a factor of not being targeted rather than drops/defensive plays. So yes, they may have been on the field, but as really ineffective decoys/blockers, more often than not.*
*this statement made completely devoid of hard stats, just my general feeling from watching the games this year.
I think that these guys not only did not catch the ball they were not on the field. I didn't miss any games this year and I LOOKED for a 3rd WR at anytime to go in. other than garbage min when Lawson and durkin were in with them NO other WR came in for a sub or a 3rd WR at any point other than Stroman and asante against UNC when Cam hurt his ankle. when ford and cam needed a rest we went sam out wide or 2 TE heavy sets with 1 wide or motioned a RB out. these GUYS did not get on the field. I just don't understand why at all.
this is just from hokiesports.com stats
games played/ games started
d. Knowles 2/ 0
cj carroll 2/ 0
kevin asante 11 / 0 (he plays on ST so that counts as GP)
Joel Caleb 11 / 0 (see above)
Deon Newson 6 / 0 (see above also was suspended )
You argue the oddest points.
Well, somebody has to do it.
I'd like an argument, please
Not true, for Demetri Knowles. He grew up in the Bahamas and never played football until he 15 or 16, if I recall the story correctly. I still can't figure out, though, why he doesn't seem to have progressed as a football player since his freshman year, though. He looked to have a lot of potential when he first arrived here, but quickly fell off the map after that.
I know the back story. but he played. he contributed that season. he wasn't great or even good. but we had to other options. was he not serviceable? to where he couldn't even see the field in 9 of our 11 games not even for 1 snap this year??? that is ridiculous to me! unless there was just more to it ]behind the scenes that we don't know;.
He's been a mystery to me for sure. He looked so promising as a freshman, but for whatever reason, the switch just hasn't turned on for him. Perhaps he just doesn't have a head for the game, having not been surrounded by it his whole life like most players. I think the coaches saw him as an Andre Davis-type WR, who didn't have to do anything but outrun the corner straight down the field and wait for the ball to drop in his hands. Unfortunately, we haven't had a deep-ball threat under center or an OL that could protect the passer long enough for him to get downfield.
I give him credit for not playing those players as they were, in my opinion, a liability and simply werent good enough to be on the field. If the running back situation was handled this way, we would have won another game or two this year.
So glad to hear. What I've been waiting for for VT. Also did not have an offer from Memphis so wonder if there just wasn't a need at memphis or if VT never reached out
I love it. While winning VA is a priority, I've always wished we stepped out and went a little bigger and more widespread in our recruiting efforts.
I think recruiting Virginia will be come much easier when we start scoring points in bunches. It seems to me that most of the talent in Virginia is on the order of skill position athletes. I think Fuente's offense will help to draw those types of guys in.
I'm glad we're getting some coaches with roots in the west where we can get corn fed, beef eating OLs. That should go a long way to helping our offense improve too.
I also think if the offense shows that it's not going to put the defense in a bad position consistently it will make Bud's recruiting job a lot easier and I think by the cascade effect we'll see an uptick in defensive recruiting wins.
Mmmm cordfed, beef eating OLs.... You just made me crave Chipotle
Mmmm cordfed, beef eating OLs.... You just made me crave
ChipotleMoes.FIXED.
Doesn't matter since both are inferior to Qdoba, and all of the above are inferior to Freebirds.
Qdoba made me pay extra for fajita veggies. I don't want to live in a world where I pay extra for fajita veggies.
The one on campus? You sure?
They do free queso and guac now too.

I miss having a Baja Fresh around here
247 did an insiders post on our remaining big targets for 2016 class Haskins was very excited with the change and looks like a lock especially with Rutgers firing their HC, PJ2 is likely committing tomorrow although Pitt is making a late push. Pride/Patterson are waiting to see what happens with TG and Burden although even if TG stays doesn't look good for Pride. No word on how Tino Ellis and some of the Maryland commits are doing
Not to be a debby downer, but Mayberry would be one of the lowest ranked recruits of the class if he accepts. He is also the lowest offered CB from our class. We don't have any problem bringing in top DB's. I understand opening a pipeline, but offering much lower prospects to potentially get bigger names was a Mike London special.
Time will quickly tell what impact Fuente has on recruiting if he can save this recruiting class.
don't know if he would be a DB or WR.. Fuente loves to run WR quick screens with guys that can absolutely fly. this kid seems to have the speed and elusiveness to fit that mold.
This. Our recruiting game will be completely different now. Just like Foster knows the recruits that will fit his defense, Fuente knows the recruits that will fit his offense. He turned Memphis into an offensive juggernaut with a roster of 3-stars. Our recruiting rankings might stay the same or even drop, but if we're getting the right kids for Fuente's offense, watch out.
Maybe he should keep Loeffler. /s
here's a sneak peak.
God, look at how much more quickly Fuente gets the ball into the receiver's hands on his screens. I've always hated the way we run WR screens, throwing all the way to the sideline. The ball takes FOREVER to get into the receiver's hands, and that's time that the defense is crashing toward the play. Works so much better with a quick toss to the slot.
Agree but a lot of that was Brewer. See the screen to Malleck vs. UVA where Malleck had to stop running and look up into the sun like he was catching a punt. He tripped and fell for a loss of 5.
Hopefully Lawson doesn't have the opposite probablem (in the dirt) but I trust Fuente with our QB's.
Agreed, part of it is Brewer's arm. But even then, Brewer still threw it a farther distance to Malleck than what's in the play above. Tempo is going to be a big change, not just between snaps but in how quickly a play develops.
the success of that particular play hinged on great blocking from #40.
Absolutely. WR blocking is fundamental in Fuente's spread (as is true in most spread offenses, to be fair). But I also do not believe 40 could have made that block if the throw went to the sideline. The timing of the play is as important as the blocking, because the timing allows the blockers to be in the right position.
i'm not disagreeing that shorter passes help the plays develop faster and that the faster the play develops the better for it's success. I personally like something similar to Rocket Screens where the WR is running back towards the QB when the ball is thrown and then taking it up field through an ally after making the catch. Those develop quickly and can be effective.
Good lord can you imagine how much success we might have had if we had run a rocket screen with Strohman this season? The defense would have been completely flatfooted, thinking it was a jet sweep.
...oh, what could have been.
All I see is blank space?
there should be a play button like on youtube??
Based off the screens I have seen at Memphis, Fuente's screens are actually quick not the Loeffler labored birth of a elephant at the 50 yard line.
If Loeffler could run a quality screen, he would still be here.
Loeffler is still here...at least through most of December anyway
Mayberry is listed as a CB/WR. Maybe Fuente is recruiting him as a WR to increase our depth there?
Should go look at our previous recruiting, had the year played out like normal VT would offer lots of kids in VA just like him to fill up the team and we'd all congratulate him for committing to the Hokies.
See: Stroman, Greg
Well that's the point. We want to see improved recruiting, not the same thing we have seen.
We also want to see better player development on the offensive side. We need to give Fuente's staff the benefit of the doubt, especially with this class where there are limited opportunities, to find some lower ranking guys and take some chances.
For sure. I'm not knocking this offer or anything about the first class he brings in, I'm just agreeing with hokiebrian in that this offer doesn't prove anything good or bad. Its pretty middle of the road.
I think that's a good point, but Fuente did say he doesn't read other people's evaluations of players. So maybe he thinks he sees something others have missed.
I think he'll consistently develop great players that were low recruits. I also think this will frustrate a lot of VT fans who still want big flashy signings. I don't think that's the kind of guy Fuente is.
I don't mind him finding raw talent and developing it, but I hope he isn't opposed to signing talent, because that's the nature of football today.
Agree. But isn't that's pretty much the same approach the old regime took?
Now of course, coach perceptions and recruiting site aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. Opinions on, say, Percy Harvin aren't going to vary much (...as a player anyway). But I always got the sense when listening to VT coaches talk in person, they didn't really care about ratings (and weren't even particularly aware of them), and instead solely went on what they saw and what they needed. Maybe I've got O&M glasses on, but I don't think this is quite the case at many other programs.
In the end folks worry too much about how many of the top 10 in Virginia VT gets...when in reality the old staff and the new staff probably only want or need maybe half of those 10 (albeit there have been some high profile whiffs recently in that 50%...).
I get that, but there are thousands of high school athletes out there. If there is a guy that Fuente likes that is a 2/3* recruit, there is probably an identical guy that is more skilled and more athletic that is a 4/5*.
In college football, sometimes a big play happens because you simply have the more athletic player that can take a WR screen 75 yards to the house. Those are the guys I want.
Coaches say it, Scouts say it, Analysts say it, stars
mean absolutely nothingdont matter in the way we look at recruits for the most part, I think thats a better way of stating that? .This seasons Top Ranked QB's by QBR:
Seth Russell 3*
Brandon Doughty 3*
Vernon Adams n/a
Baker Mayfield 3*
Matt Johnson n/a
Kevin Hogan 3*
Taylor Lamb 2*
Paxton Lynch 2*
Brandon Allen 3*
Deshaun Watson 4*
You can go on and on, pull down the top 10 scoring RB's this year three 5 stars a 4 star and a bunch of 2/3 star guys
Pull down top scoring WR's this year three 4 stars and a bunch of 2/3 stars with a few unranked kids.
Or you could look at the past Heisman winners 3*, 4/5*, 3*, 4*, 4/5*, 4*, 3*.
I just like that Fuente came in day 1 and hit the ground running.
Not to get into this whole discussion that has been had again and again, but no analyst says stars don't matter.

Of course, on an aggregate level, a pool of every 5 star has a higher percentage of being a stud than the pool of every 3 star, but aggregate percentages dont matter at the individual level.
college football teams are an aggregate of 85 scholarship players.
recruiting is not a random exercise.
the fact is the star salesmen overlook the vast majority of the best players. the 5 stars are the easiest to identify. the 4 stars next. but if you don't see a top player's potential and i do, it isn't luck or chance.
Sam. Rogers.
Individual level doesn't matter at the team level - aggregate level does.
The problem with your 'stars don't matter' argument, as we've been discussing for about 15 years now, is, sure, 2-3 stars end up in the NFL, so do 4-5 star. But as a percentage, far MORE of the 4-5 star end up in the NFL than 2-3 star. And the crux of the matter is - no one has been able to develop a way of picking WHICH 2-3 stars will end up in the NFL.
You need to look no farther than our recruiting the past few years - our 2-3 stars tend to not pan out.
I think we are arguing the same point, From the report:
Yes, 4 or 5 stars have a greater percentage as a whole of being studs, as a whole. But Drew Harris, Holland Fisher while at Virginia Tech, their success rate is 0, not 75% like the group of 4 star, and thats not to pick on them, or say they still cant be succesfull elsewhere.
The same can be said at the team level. Michigan state. Iowa. Georgia. Individual teams dont always live up to the claim, but in groups they do. All teams aggregated out who grade in the top 20 recruiting classes vs the sum of the whole who do not stands true, but not all teams in the top 20 individually have winning records against those who are not.
Basically, my main point is, which came off a little strong in hindsight, I agree, is that maybe the athlete were looking for, in fact happens to be, the 2* athlete. I think Virginia Tech's team is a pretty good indication, our studs have in a lot of cases, been under the radar kids.
Your point about Drew Harris at VT is moot, since he hasn't enrolled at VT.
Yet....
Drew Harris spotting -- IUP, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Found YA!
Good for him, I hope he does well, but in all honesty, hes a perfect example.
See, you are just picking individuals. I'm talking a whole class. Look at the champions of the past ten years and you will see that they all have had top 10 recruiting classes in the previous years leading up to winning it all.
Sure, you can point to Paxton Lynch and say well he was a 2* that is gonna get drafted in the first round, but that is so rare for a 2* recruit. When you have a class of highly skilled/ranked guys, depth and athleticism will simply win you games. That is just how it is, and how it will always be. The idea that targeting the best high school recruits won't give you your best possible team is wrong 99% of the team.
I guess I just took it as this "kids a 2/3* athlete he cant be good."
There are enough surprises and busts, especially in the 2-4 range. Now unanimous 5 star guys, looking through them in the past 6-7 years, Im actually surprised at how much sucess theyve had, barring injury or character issues theyre basically gaurunteed All Conference. I will give the ratings that.
Oh yeah, lower ranked guys can be awesome for sure.
Definitely....
Please give Fuente a little bit of time. For crying out loud, this is his FIRST day recruiting for the Hokies. Google the word "patience".
So what you're saying is...
Exactly. I'm as anxious (and in some ways as impatient) as everyone else to see how CJF and his staff recruit. And to see in the future, how they develop players and coach the team. But the full story will unfold over time and may take as long as 2-3 years.
I'm all over the recruiting rankings, trust me. Comparing Stroman recruitment isn't apples to apples.
Mayberry might come and be a stud. I hope he is. However, I would ease up on the hype train about offering the #1700 recruit in the country. Considering UVA and MD have numerous commits with interest in the Hokies, I would hope Fuente could pouch those guys.
Also, Stroman went to Stonewall Jackson (Northern VA) which is a VA HS powerhouse with a much more fruitful pipeline than anybody from Oklahoma. How many VT games you think get played on TV there?
I'm sure Fuente and staff will gets accustomed to the VA area but its exciting to see us recruit outside of our "normal" comfort zone. The possibility of stealing a recruit in the future from an Oklahoma or Texas/TCU would be awesome!
I agree, even if this kid isn't a star, maybe a player from his high school in the future will be and with the ties we are creating now, we might have a chance.
I'd say they are gala apples and granny smith. Its a good comparison. Good players
as for Stonewall Jackson (Northern VA) which is a VA HS powerhouse with a much more fruitful pipeline than anybody from Oklahoma.
I know your joking but I looked it up anyway
there's no Wiki for Stonewall But Booker T. Washington High School (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

And Stroman was tight with Tim Settle. At the time Settle wasn't really high on VT until Stroman was on board.
You know who got really high on Stroman....Matt John's tiptoeing down the sideline. BOOM!
Pipeline is for future players from that school that may come to VT down the road..For example, offer Stroman who may help to get Settle. What a coincidence. Why are you even showing alumni from other sports 10 years ago?
We pouched a kid away from an 0-12 Kansas team (his best offer). Again, I hope he's great and I am in no ways knocking him.
I am equally excited about the coach and our future. However, I wouldn't call it a recruiting rampage as of yet. Go get Ellis and Haskins, that's a mini rampage.
does this fall in the category of grammar police?....I only ask cuz I'm a bit gun shy at the moment...
I like to think grammar police is when someone jumps on a poster immediately.
I try to stick to this MO:
first offense- ignore
second offense- post funny picture to subtly (or not so subtly) shame the poster
third offense- point out the error outright and supply the correct grammar spelling
Maybe some would consider that grammar police. Of coarse, I guess I half to bee willing too take my own medicine if someone else chooses two due the same.
I
HAHAHA. I'd like to think we put him in VT's pocket (pouch). Instead we stole him away (Poach). I'm an idiot.
More correct definition of Pouch:
1. a bag, sack, or similar receptacle, especially one for small articles or quantities (Where Mike London's wins against VT go)
2. a small moneybag (Whit gives to Fuente)
3. a bag for carrying mail (Where all of Fuente's scholarship offers go)
4. a bag or case of leather, used by soldiers to carry ammunition. (Bud keeps his blitzes here)
7. a baggy fold of flesh under the eye. (Mike London after the INT, Me after watching Bud/Frank/Shane after INT)
We haven't pouched anyone yet. We've only offered him a scholarship like a lot of other spread football teams have. There's a good chance he never even commits to us.
Take it from me, Tulsa is a HS football town. Booker T isn't even #3 there. Google Jenks High School or Union High School. Jenks could beat some small college teams.
Don't get it twisted, I'm still originally a 757 guy myself (actually I'm old, I was 804 then 757, and never moved). VA is a talent rich environment, but it will be nice to snatch up some Oklahoma boys from under Stoops nose.
"En Fuente" = In fountain. May our recruiting class be overflowing in talent!

En = in, on, or at, depending on context. So many possibilities...
so #EnFuente could also mean "at the source?" I think we have our new #marinades...
Very well could be. Or "in the fountain" could refer to our offense finally being fully dipped.
With God as my witness, I shall never be denied a pussy touchdown again!
Get it together!
ok last snippet, this play is a thing of beauty!!! french is going to have fun reviewing Memphis film so I'll leave it to him.
that play is so damn beautiful
Is it so beautiful that it is also illegal? It looks like they got away with some lineman down field as the center is 8 yards past the line of scrimmage and a couple other lineman are a yard or two past it. Don't get me wrong, I love design and the play, but I think they got away with one.
If the refs actually called picks and illegal man downfield, spread offenses would lose much of their lustre.
Yes, but close your eyes and imagine that offense with ACC refs. Possibilities are endless!
I'm picturing lots of undenied fully dipped touchdowns with Ron Cherry nowhere in sight!
I'm very excited that we will finally have an offensive staff that knows how to "run to win and throw to score"! The future is looking bright.
GO HOKIES!!
Plus, if you close your eyes, it'll be just like you're an ACC ref anyway! /s
You would also have to lose your common sense. /ns
Yep. See Klempsin and UNC-CHeat.
They did get away with one there. The center passed the 3 yard downfield mark but no other lineman did.
I thought there was a rule about maintaining a block past 3 yards but it doesn't look like there is.
I just watched some film on another thread of Memphis vs Ole Miss and in the few minutes I watched, I saw Memphis was called twice for illegal man downfield, so I'd say it's one of the hazards of that style of play.
just because the OL is downfield doesn't mean the play is not beautiful. It is a great play. One execution error aside.
Unless UVA does it. Then it's dirty rotten cheating with biased refs.
Not disagreeing with you at all. I probably should have put a little sarcastica on the illegal part.
It is a beautiful play and I'm sure the OL coach had a chat with his boy on the execution error. I just happened to notice him down field and was thinking it could have been flagged. The nice thing about all that action going on in this offense is there is a lot for a referee to watch which makes it a little more difficult to catch those things live. Plus, as noted above...ACC refs, they sometimes don't get after ya.
where have we heard that before? not this again!
Cross (the TE that caught that) reminds me of Sam Rogers; who btw was sitting next to the Beamers at the press conference.
#16 bit about as hard as you can on the playaction
That would be Sam Rogers next year. The end zone will blow up.
Definition of a pussy touchdown?
Turns out to be better than it looks. ;-)
The old POP pass. Punish defenses for selling out to stop run. Auburn has been running this offense for the past few years. Think game tying touchdown with under a minute to go in 2013 Iron Bowl.
Lane Kiffin loved the play design so much he used it against Auburn later.
Great play design.
What is so deadly/beautiful is that you first option the DE and then the corner making it very difficult to defend. It will be quite the adjustment seeing the perimeter attacked so viciously and regularly by a Hokie offense. But hey I'm willing to adapt.
I know I am much more interested in recruiting next two weeks than filling the coaching staff. Exciting times for Hokies!
Yeah, he's got basically two months to recruit to convince kids to stay committed and sway a few in areas of need. I hope he can get it done
Have we ever had a kid from Oklahoma on our roster?
Has Oklahoma ever had a kid from Oklahoma on their roster?
(Half TIC...about 1/4 of their roster is actually from OK)
Wasn't Frye from there?
Myrtle Beach
hmmm... yeah, sorry about that. I feel like there was an OL from late 90's/early 2000's from OK, maybe a converted TE to boot. Or I could just be going crazy.
See below:

Thanks for confirming my sanity
I think that Bucky Rogers kid might be from there. Either him or the Motuapoopoo guy.
Andrew Fleck.
Drill baby drill!! Tap that pipeline!!
A point I made further up but has really got me wondering now
Kyle Mayberry did not have an offer from Memphis or on the target list on 247, so wonder if there just wasn't a need at memphis or if VT never reached out
Mayberry was pretty excited to have an offer from us on Twitter.
I think we can probably cool it on the criticisms since this is literally the first person we've offered with the new staff. They made this offer less than 24 hours after Fuente arrived in Blacksburg. Let's have some faith in the new staff.
Agree 100% considering he said this yesterday-
"Recruiting is usually talked about in two phases, and one of the phases is the only one that gets talked about. Everybody talks about recruiting or relationships and sales and convincing people to come, but the other part of recruiting is evaluation. We will do our own evaluation here. We will not read other people's evaluations in determining who to recruit. We will do a great job finding the right kids to come into this program and help push this thing forward, and we will also do a fantastic job developing those relationships so that we can identify and recruit the right kids."
I'm not sure he could be any clearer with his thoughts on rankings and evaluation. I think there are a lot of Hokies that will have to get used to the "new sheriff in town" and that he will be operating by his own rules.
I wonder how his style will be embraced by the 757 vs. the old regime? With the rise of 7-on-7 and its emphasis on passing (quickly I might add), hopefully we can make inroads to offseason/7v7 programs we have not been able to recruit in the past.
I'd say he'll fit in fine.
please tell me this got screen capt'd! (link broken)
No screen cap. Not like it was groundbreaking, it was just "HOKIES" overlaid on "757" like many of our typical graphics. Just thought it was noteworthy that he was already on the trail in the VT hotbeds.
but my eyes need to see every Fuente action right now! I needs all the infos!
its back up
Back up:
This makes me very happy
All you need is 757
757 is all you need.
Wonder if an uncommited guy (football) like Grant Holloway would be interested in coming to VT again. He's going to Florida for track??
We were his "leader" and then Georgia & Florida stepped in, have to think Fuente could change his mind.
Holloway's #1 sport is track. Florida's track program is much more prestigious than VT's.
Aren't they number one in the country?
6'6" 285 lb Tackle.... COME ON DOWN!!!!!
Fuente loves him some JUCO guys.. Has offers from Auburn, Georgia and Cincy, Memphis and now VT
That's a tall tank of water right there!!
So let's familiarize ourselves with the ACC and VT rules on JUCO kids. anyone with insight?
Per Atlantic Coast Conference Bylaws
Conference Eligibility Rules
Article VI. Rules of Eligibility Applicable to all Sports
Section VI-1. Conference Initial-Eligibility Rule
Isn't there also numbers issues, like a team can only take in a certain number of JUCO guys?
Considering the ACC has the lowest JuCo transfer percentage in college football at 1.9 per team over 4 yrs but that dates back to 2007 to 2010. It could be higher. I am not sure
You would think/hope Fuente was told football would be able to accept a JUCO for him to offer one.
Sooo with Outlaw being a transfer in Buzzketball that would mean we are out of slots for 2 years right if he commits?
It was something like 4 men and 4 women per year, total across all sports
What is an Academic Qualifier?
To be considered a qualifier, you need to have registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center and have been certified by them as an academic qualifier. Generally, if you have attended a junior college and are graduating with your AA or general education degree you are going to be an academic qualifier. In Division I, if you are transferring from a two-year college and you have been certified as a final academic qualifier, the requirements to compete in your first year are:
Attend the two-year college full-time for at least one semester or quarter;
Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.000; and
Complete an average of at least 12 transferable credit hours per full-time term at the two-year college.
If you plan on playing baseball or basketball (men's or women's) after your transfer, you may not transfer during the middle of the year from a two-year college and play that same year. And in men's basketball, you may only use two credit hours of physical education courses to meet these requirements, unless you will major in physical education.2-4 Transfers (Junior College or Community College Transfer)
A 2-4 transfer is a transfer from a two-year college (junior or community college) to a four-year college. There are two different types of 2-4 transfers with different requirements to play right away.
A 2-4 qualifier transfer is a transfer from a two-year college who has been certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center as a final academic qualifier. If an athlete has not been certified yet as a qualifier, he or she may go through the Eligibility Center process after starting at the two-year college. However, an athlete may not use any course work or standardized tests (SAT/ACT) taken after starting college to become a qualifier.
Non-qualifiers
A 2-4 non-qualifier transfer is a transfer from a two-year college who has not been certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center as a final academic qualifier. This includes athletes who received a final certification in Divisions I and II, athletes who received a final certification in Division II, and athletes who have not received any final certification from the Eligibility Center.
ENJOY!
I like the size, but to my totally untrained eye, it looks like his technique needs work (based solely on this one picture). Low man tends to win, and he's almost standing all the way up. Anyone who actually knows line play wanna give their take?
thought the issue for VT with JUCO players was VT's acceptance of them. That Beamer had tried going down that road and hit roadblocks.

The kid has amazing feet. Needs to improve his center of gravity/play with better pad level. He has a bunch of promise. I love the short, quick chopping steps.
To think my first day on the job usually is walking around the office, trying to find the coffee maker and restroom...arranging my desktop (installing VT themed backgrounds)...emailing my friends to figure the best happy hour place near my new office...and leaving around 2:30.
I feel lazy.
First day on the job is a little different for 7 figure salaries.
Did you get a second day on the job?
Once.
....or I could be a government contractor...
Maybe change your name to "NotWhitt".
Just kidding, as I know you are as well.
Sounds like my 1000th day on the job. Hmmm.
Totes kidding.
Well, I'd hope you've figured out the best happy hour places near your office by then.
So silly question...who is the lead recruiter for Mayberry?
Guess-> Fuente as he is from Tulsa, OK where Mayberry attends HS so he could have gotten a late call last night about him
Who are his other offers?
No one? Ok, I'll do it:
How is this still not a thing?!
Terms of Enrampagement
Already spoke to Phillip Patterson to get him back on board
Time for a GIF story, I think!
Coach Fuente sat down this morning, full of confidence.
First things first: get to talkin' to them midwestern boys.
Naturally, they were impressed and immediately accepted the offers.
Of course, LOLUVA was a little miffed that VT's going to be kicking their asses for another twelve years.
Blazing Saddles = Leg...all day err day.
Glad to see Fuente offering Mongo right off the bat. He was an Outland trophy winner and Heisman runner-up as a DLineman.
Yep, says the Horse (Sorry HOAT).
via GIPHY
Would love to see Clevon Little run this offense
I'd be interested to see if any Memphis recruits will follow Fuente to VT, pending he still offers them from VT. I don't know who they are looking at though and what they need as to compared with who we are looking at and what we need.
I'm sure they Need OL. We need OL
Our guys may be great OL in a system where it doesn't take 4 seconds to get the ball into a playmaker's hands and where they run north and south
Man the luster wore off real fast here. Guys not even been the HC for three days and already people are criticizing an offer that went out. I know Fuente should have already signed the number 1 class for 2016 and 17 already but maybe we cut him some slack for the first month or so.
Looks like using the sheriff from Blazing Saddles as Fuente earlier was a bit more accurate than I expected.
We would like to extend this laurel, and hardy handshake to our new....recruiting disappointment
Has it occurred to anyone that Fuente almost certainly conferred with Bud Foster - and possibly Torrian Gray - on this DB from Okla before making the offer?
Those guys have a pretty good track record for recognizing DB talent before other programs and the anointed experts at the recruiting websites...
see the db from okla is more of a WR IMO he seems to fit Fuente's small but speedy guy. total speculation in my part but we seem pretty set on dbs so I would be extremely surprised if that's what we offered him as.
I haven't looked at the film so I don't have a opinion on what position might be the best fit. But VT did just lose a DB to UNC, no?
He would likely translate to a slot receiver/return man. Probably wouldn't play in the secondary unless injuries hit badly
Memphis currently has a 4 Star WR commit from Fork Union. Sounds like the PERFECT flip to the good guys. Jae'lon Oglesby. Check this boy out. According to rivals, his other offer is from Clemson.
Looks like he already played
Leg for you sir. I'll take a lap and see myself out.
The OLB may not have an offer
showing up on rivals and multiple 247 people are talking how crazy it is that Fuente offered 2 Oklahoma kids in day 1.. who knows though, we will probably have to take these with a grain of salt
My guess is he knows something we don't.
Im just still in shock Frank Beamer wont be on the sidelines next year.
This is the definition of bittersweet.
Glad Daiblo is staying. That's the RAMPAGE i'm looking for. I don't care what he's ranked. Best.Name.Ever.
It'll be weird seeing a bunch of offers going out to states like Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri. We've been looking south a lot of the time, and getting into the great lakes states a little, but the mid atlantic is what we call home. I'll be interesting to see what sort of guys we pull from the west.
I think it makes sense, these are likely kids that were already evaluated at Memphis and now makes sense to reach out to. I'm sure our recruiting corp will still be the mid Atlantic
Miller looks like a freaking truck running around on the feild. To be honest, haven't seen a OLB hit like him at tech since Vince Hall. But these are only highlights.
Edit: Boy looks like a man out there. I don't even need hudl to highlight him, he just stands out so easily.
I like that Coach Fuente is offering some new guys but I really hope he can close on guys like Landon Dickerson. That would be a pretty significant addition to the incoming class.
Please. Get. This. Guy.
Well, we know he works fast. From an article on TSL (with info from Rivals), Memphis had 4 verbal commits when Fuente took over in December of 2011. By signing day that December, they had 25 prospects, 5 of which enrolled in January. So considering he brought his 2 best recruiters with him, and we've got Gray, Wiles and Foster in the fold now, I think we'll see a good amount of activity between now and signing day.

Bring it Key Play!
Coach Searles is not likely to stay in Blacksburg, but I have genuinely liked him. He is creative on Twitter. See below - Dickerson is definitely his top target.
He's one coach I'm really sad to see go. I'm sure Vice would do just fine, but I'd feel better knowing we had an OL coach who had recruited against P5 competition before.
Searles another VT coach with a young family of his own. Daughter is very vocal and supportive on the Twitter.
I like Searels as well. He did a nice job with what he had to work with.
The O-Line was a weakness, but he generally managed to get it working well enough to run an offense behind it.
#Hosier?
Saw that and scratched my head too.
Autocorrect for Hokies would be my guess. Kids and their music.
Apparently interested in going after Kiel Pollard. Arkansas commit out of GA.
Weird to see him going after guys that he didn't offer at Memphis
I'm thinking some of these guys he might have reached out to at Memphis but they weren't interested
NVM found it... do not see an offer yet but i'm guessing that's comming.
Hudl Tape here-> HUDL
Another WR that is great at catching screens and making defenders miss, not to mention he is a big physical blocker.
It's on 247.
We got a shot, but could you imagine Khalan Laborn in Fuente's offense?
As much as the recruiting of new players is nice, the biggest recruiting job Fuente has is to "recruit" Kendall Fuller, Ken Ekanem, Bucky Hodges, and Wyatt Teller to come back next season.
If Kendall gets a first round grade he is gone, and he would be dumb not to leave. The rest of the guys should come back.
1 of those players is not like the other.... as much as I would love for fuller to come back don't see it happening.
Wyatt, Bucky and Ekanem still have 1-2 more years to really blossom into legit NFL talent.
Well said
While I agree that Teller has the highest upside of our OL, I don't see him being head a shoulders about the rest of the OL to be going pro yet. I thought Conte had the most consistent season for us. Teller had pancakes for sure, but he also just tackled guys and had a few breakdowns in pass pro.
I also don't think Ekanem showed nearly enough to jump to the NFL yet. Bucky is the only other one I could see going just because of his potential in a position that is a huge asset to the NFL right now. Not saying OL isn't, just Teller is not next level ready yet.
Fuller is gone doesn't matter who the coach is. Bucky is the only other name that strikes me of being able to go pro
I don't know why people say this is a given. All of his brothers stayed the whole time. And to be quite honest, he really isn't getting the attention that he once was. None of the mock drafts have him in the first round anymore. I could definitely see him coming back for his final year.
he still has 2more years
Only if he were to get a medical redshirt this year. Kendall is a true Jr.
Did he play past the cutoff?
He only played in 3 games, so no. He should be eligible if the he really wanted to pursue it. Given that coming back for 2016 still seems unlikely, trying for 2 more years really just seems pointless. If he comes back next year and stays healthy, he'll have a degree and there's going to be no reason for him to stay.
Spoke to Wyatt's mom and dad... they think he is going to stay one more year
The manager of Taco Bell confirmed this, and has stocked his store accordingly
I remember an interview with Frank or Bud where one of them said something along the lines of "if a player is a 1st round pick, I'm not letting them come back".
Then again you have people like Andrew Luck where they are projected to be a first overall pick and come back anyway.
FWIW Fuller has dropped to second round in a lot of Mock drafts
Just out of curiosity and no where else to post this question... What is the status on marshawn and Mckenzie injuries, back to 100%? I mean Mckenzie could of played, but he isn't back to himself yet? Any word on either players status..
FWIW, I just had lunch with Wyatt Teller's godmother (who Wyatt he meets up with after every game) and recently spoke with Wyatt and said he is really in it only for the money. He told her that if he gets a good draft ranking, resulting in a probably multi-million dollar entry contract, he will leave VT after this season. He loves football and the game, but he is mainly just playing to take care of his family, which is nothing wrong with that, so don't be surprised if he leaves this year.
My first post...read many good comments on here so far.
I'm from Oklahoma and let me say that Fuente does recruit in Oklahoma. He's from Tulsa which has some of the best football in the state and has several ties there.
A couple of points to make are that Stoops is losing recruiting battles in Oklahoma. Too busy in Texas and Cali.
Fuente stole a LB prospect from a small single A school near me in Oklahoma. Kids dad played on 80s NC team at OU. Oklahoma offered but the story locally was Fuente sealed the deal.
Not saying Oklahoma HS football is on par with majority of VA schools (I'm a VA boy, so I might be biased) but they have a ton of offensive linemen prospects.
Love to hear the local perspective. Thanks, OkieHokie. You're OkieDokie.
Old Memphis recruiting article with Fuente:
I like the sound that. Alot better than converting TE's and guys from the Dline.
Article Link
That's ridiculous. You can take years off recruiting OL. Just recruit a load of DL and TE's and send the leftovers to OL when needed. /s
Edit: Doh! You said that right there on the bottom....

ehhh...bye now
I think it was in CJF's press conference that he said his goal is to have 17 OL on scholarship. That would mean taking about 4 per class. He definitely understands the importance of a strong OL. As we know all too well, a weak OL can limit the best of skill players....
Nitpicking here, but since almost all OL redshirt, it's more like 3 or 4 per class.
If it were up to many folks, it would be 12 OL in each class of 57 overall -- including every player in the VA top 20...
Im really surprised there isnt a disgruntled "Fuente whiffed on Patrick Jones comment"...
I mean comeon the guys been here 48 hours already, the fact that we dont have at least one 5* commit by now is alarming. #guyCantRecruit face it. #sarcasm #iLikeTheFuenteHireAndImNotAfraidToShowIt

You'd think, wouldn't ya? Maybe even one 5* for each of those two days. Or add them up for one mega 10*. This coach is already a disappointment.
In all seriousness, it appears most people get it. Expectations need to be tempered a bit. Some pieces, player and coaching wise, are already in place, but the road up will require a couple of seasons or more. Just watching a confident team play fundamentally sound and mistake free this next season would make me happy.
All I want for Christmas is to stop the pre-snap penalties...

we gave out an offer... although he does seem to have an impressive offer list to go with ours.
Uhhhhhhh can it be February yet???
Ok, so we lost six games this year. The total amount of points by which we lost? 42. That's counting the 18 we lost to the Buckeyes by. If we only lost six games by average of a touchdown, isn't it reasonable to think Fuente's offensive-mindedness could get 7 more a game? Whit must have thought the same thing at some point. Somebody send that man some co-eds as a reward.
Depends on the QB. If we get as good of QB play as we got this year, I would think we could add 4-6 points per game.
We are currently averaging 28 points per game, up 4 points from 2015 and 5 points from '12-13. In 2011 we avg'd 28 points, in 2010 we avg'd 34 points.
It seems reasonable with the amount of returning offensive talent that we should average 32 points per game, maybe as high as 35. If our defense plays average, that should lead to a 8 win season or better.
I agree. In the past when Fuente's offenses have had lots of success they have had very good QB play. See Andy Dalton at TCU and Paxton Lynch the last two seasons. Hopefully he will be able to get Lawson and or Motley or whoever the starter is to play at a high level. I think we have enough talent around the QB to see an increase in offensive production from the last several years, but if the QB can't get the ball accurately on time where it needs to go it doesn't matter too much how much talent you have.
My Hope for 2016: Fuente puts the players in position to succeed and the offense comes out firing and stuns teams early in the season with tempo and schemes we're not used to seeing in Blacksburg. The QB gets eased into the starting role with easy quick short passes and leaning heavily on a strong running game early in the year. As the year progresses the passing game improves as the QB becomes more comfortable and later in the season we're able to hit long critical plays off play action. VT storms out to a 10-0 start and becomes a dark horse contender for the CFP.
My Expectation for 2016: The offense struggles early in the season with new QB play and a different scheme and concepts. We start the season 1-3 or 2-2 and rely heavily on the defense to keep us in contention in the coastal division through October. VT finishes the reg season with 7-9 wins and a bowl game. The offense shows signs of progress each week.
...And as that passing attack starts opening up the field, we start to see some long touchdown runs. Don't forget that...
In Fuente's 3rd year as OC for TCU the offense averaged 40.8 points with Pachall, not Dalton. They had 231.6 passing yards per game and 208.6 rushing yards per game. 350 passing attempts and 532 rushing attempts. I think there is evidence he can get it done without an NFL bound QB.
Granted, I'm not sure if Pachall would have been drafted if he hadn't gotten a DWI and left TCU.
Yeah I don't doubt Fuente's ability to get it done without great QB play. I guess what I was trying to say was when his offenses are clicking on all cylinders the QB play has been really good. I guess you can say that about any offense though honestly. I liked his comments about seeing what you have and what the current guy's skill sets are and finding what they do well and then using what they do well in the offense. I have to think we will see an improvement in offense next year and good QB play should certainly increase those chances.
WhOa whoa whoa, did you just point out that Lefty was increasing the point per game average?
This year, we improved by 4 points. Not an insignificant improvement. But still not particularly good.
Somebody send that man some co-eds as a reward.
How very SEC
I think VT is generally on the "we measure people by character, not the vices they can get away with" program.
And we should all be thankful for it
This assumes the defense will give up the same points or less.
I'm kinda hoping Loeffler is like the Good Luck Chuck of CFB. I mean, his offense at Auburn was horrendous when he was there and then Gus came in and had one of the best offensive units in the country just one season later. How cool would it be if Fuente did that at VT? Then everybody would hire Loeffler for a year or two and then hope their next coach would take them to the Championship.
The blitz! Leg for referencing the best show of all time
In all fairness, Auburn had a good offense when Gus was OC, then he was hired to be a head coach at Arkansas State and Loeffler was hired at Auburn, then one season later came back to be HC at Auburn after Chizik fell flat. Really, he continued what he started there, just in a higher role because the kids there were the same ones, less one graduating class, from when he was there before. That's the reason that the "look at what Auburn did after Loeffler" excuse doesn't hold a whole lot of weight. Auburn got back to doing what they did before which was run a spread based offense, one that was so productive that it got their OC a job as a HC at a mid-major. Even what Loeffler did at Auburn is just indicative of the fact that you can have talent, but if they are in the wrong scheme, they won't succeed. Bud is a great defensive coach and he has players who can play his defense well, but if he tried to just switch over to a 3-4 defense, that wouldn't likely go well because we don't have players who are fit for that style. But yes, let's hope that there's some juju there for us going forward.
I meant it mostly in jest. I'm in no way expecting our offense to all of a sudden turn into a high octane top 10 unit in 2016. I think Fuente is great at getting the best out of his players and I do expect some improvement on that side of the ball, along with some growing pains. I think 7-9 wins is realistic for next year given our schedule. I've said before that UNC, UT, and ND are the toughest match ups we have next year. I'll add Miami now that they're coached by Richt and have talent. Outside of that, our schedule is really quite manageable.
I feel like we should be hitting some of those SCAR commits like Leota hard right now with all their uncertainty
Awesome. Does anyone know if we have any current prospects/recruits/commits playing in the game that are publicly known? I'm too lazy to check so a leg to anyone willing to do it for me.
2 LBs on Indian River.
-Tavante Beckett (VT Commit)
-Jaquan Yulee (Bama Commit)
Awesome, thanks. I just saw Watkins over at 247 posted about it as well (non-insider article).
Virginia Tech's Justin Fuente checking out in-state talent
Devon Hunter from the class of 2017
Devon Hunter
Tavante Beckett 3* OLB at Indian River is committed to us, they also got 4* ILB Jaquan Yulee who is committed to Alabama, and 2017 5* #1 Safety nationally Devon Hunter who also plays Dual Threat QB.
awesome. marking his territory already, Fuente means business
It's Fuente. Fuente of the Virginia Tech Hokies.
was looking at Greg Dortch from Highland Springs too. Best player on the field according to many...
On a related note:
Landon Dickerson has his top 3 choices and the Hokies aren't one of them
This made my heart hurt.
Searels leaving likely has a lot to do with that. Dickerson seemed to really like him.
Tech is still in pursuit of Florida commit JaQuan BaiLey.
and half of his team...
Also this
that's one of them
#Hookies
Odd that someone has that as a registered trademark, isn't it?
To be fair, VT does own the hoos.
Rivals has Bailey as coming to VT on an official visit on 1/22/16.
That's pretty exciting. I mean you don't go several states away for an official visit unless the school in question is a serious contender.
I like our odds of grabbing this kid. Assuming he enjoys campus and relates well to the coaching staff I can see him being here next year.
He isn't the only one coming from that school on 1/22/16 they are triplets.
Just look how happy JaQuan Bailey is that Coach Wiles stopped by his house! Now that is the face of a kid who has zero intentions of flipping his commitment.
Devwah Whaley, the #4 RB of 2016 who just resigned his commitment from UGA, had an offer from Memphis. I wonder if Fuente is still interested in going after this kid.
It would be really nice if we got some consideration but he looks to be bound somewhere else most likely. You never know though, stranger things have happened
I doubt we would land him. Fuente has showed that he is willing to scout and offer kids from that area of the country though. It would be nice to see us really compete for an elite back from outside of our region. Just wishful thinking.
Define region? Because if I recall quite a few RB's have come from outside VA/NC/MD.
Not saying they haven't. I just think it would be good to see that this new group of coaches can compete for a top RB with no ties to the area.
Any word on Yulee?? I know he's an Bama commit but we have missed at LB a ton in the past IMO. Have they reached out to him at all?
Fuente was at his game last Friday, per some buzz on Twitter. Apparently there were multiple VT targets at the game. Not sure the extent of any interaction or who, specifically, Fuente was there to observe/visit.
I doubt yulee flips, but highland springs wr Dortch was lighting it up all season, and he's committed to Wake Forest.
Yulee probably won't qualify for anyone.
may get him next year though....
Ive noticed that too. Is that because of Foster's scheme?? Maybe LBs dont see it translating over to the next level???????
Victor Greene is out:
http://virginiatech.247sports.com/Bolt/BREAKING-Victor-Greene-decommits-...
wonder if we recruited him as lb and he wants to be a rb.. won his Conference POY for offense
I'm confused. The guy has no other offers and the bulk of the defensive staff are staying. Why de-commit?
mutual parting....meaning we didn't want him anymore
JaQuan Bailey has set an official visit for Jan 22nd. DE from Florida is a UF commit as of right now.
Bailey coming with his teammate (wells) - maybe more than one. Jan 22 is a big weekend.

Cross fingers for nice weather
Well if you wanna believe in poppycock and witchcraft there is the accuweather 45 day forecast. I'd take that with a grain of salt, as lots of the model info still has to update. but they apparently (according to them) are statistically accurate on major trends and systems, which makes sense, you can usually identify troughs and systems a month or more down the line. I'd actually kinda like to see how they do it, but regardless here ya go....so sunny and 42?

Ill keep my eye on the models when it gets closer to show-time
2017 4* WR Noles commit. Same school as Isaiah Ford.
That would be an amazing grab. Kid is a borderline blue chipper.
I like it, but I'll believe it when I see it.
Yeah it's super early to be speculating on 2017 kids. But he would definitely be a defining factor in that incoming class. We'll see how this next season goes(great hopefully) and then we could see more kids like him wanting in on the Fuente Fun.
The fact that Fuente has already gotten VT in his head a little bit it appears excites me the most honestly.
I'm sure Fuente has something to do with it, and the 2016 change seems to give us an opening, but I wouldn't discount the uniform as driving a somewhat impulsive tweet.
Supposedly the kids love the black with orange. Throw in a little maroon / strategic white and its probably as attractive to the youngins as our colors can get.
And Nike gives them to us almost never. I'm not looking to change up the school's colors, I'm just saying we should cater a little more to what the kids (recruits) like. I don't dislike our colors, just think many kids think the black and orange is en fuego.
There is talk out there he is working to reclassify as 2016.
his twitter says he may "break up" with FSU....
good stuff here...
Looks like we have a QB visiting this weekend
Dang that's a lot of traveling for just one weekend
+1 LOL. that was my first thought too.
Looks like a very Paxton Lynchish recruit. No one's paying attention to him. Fuente obviously likes something in him. Hope we can lure him away from Prarie View.
I'm laughing that he made a survey...
better vote just to be safe....

Looks like they got an 804 kid to commit.
I wonder who this is?
24/7 reporting that it is OT T.J. Jackson.
http://virginiatech.247sports.com/Bolt/BREAKING-In-State-O-Lineman-commi...
Who else knows that scene from The Blindside where he blocks the guy all the way through the endzone and tosses him over the fence?
That's what every offensive highlight looks like to me.
"Where were you taking him?"
"To the bus. It was time for him to go."
Jaquan Bailey, a DE has decommited from UF and we have picked up a crystal ball on 247 today. We could sure use him.
4* OT Malcolm Pridgeon, 5th overall JUCO player in the nation set to visit Virginia Tech after dead period, according to 247 free JUCO signing day article.
Has also taken visits to Florida, Baylor, and WVU. And boasts Bama and Ohio St offers among others
Love it. We need tackles in a bad way
Dang that's another 6'8'' O-lineman. With Parker, Yosh, and Jackson now we already have a bunch of jolly green giants at the big ugly positions.
What's our JUCO situation? I thought we were limited to like 3 per 2 year period across all sports? I thought we were also limited to those who were partial qualifiers out of high school, no non-qualifiers out of high school. Presumably we have only admitted those who meet our criteria.
my understanding is that the ACC transfer limit is on non-qualifiers out of H.S. who then went to JUCO. It's also 4 men and 4 women per year across all sports.
ACC allows an unlimited # of JUCO transfers or graduates (associates degree) who were qualifiers out of H.S.
Not 100% sure if graduating from JUCO with an associates degree moves a non-qualifier out of that category, but I think it does since Daniel Rodriquez was offered an invited walk-on spot pending his Associates Degree, and he was definitely a non-qualifier out of high school. (Clemson football sought and was granted a waiver that allowed immediate eligibility for Rodriguez so he skipped his associates degree)
Thanks for the clarification.
Get on it! Need some help at OL.
What about the JUCO OL from Mississippi? Any update on him?
Hudl here--> Latrell Williams
Interesting, dude committed to USF a week ago.
He didn't appear to have many great offers though besides USF. (Indiana, GA Southern, Western Kentucky etc.) Could be a chance he decommits given that Tech is a step up from USF and those other schools.
Oh yea, I expect so. I just remember how many times VT has been the USF in this situation. The DE out of SC that went to UGA....Barrett?....comes to mind.
Want. Want bad. He's got some great moves, acceleration and ball skills.
That dude has some speed but also really nice vision. A lot of those plays he found a seam and turned on the jets rather than running backwards because he knows he is faster than everyone.
They have quite the budget for a grounds crew too. Awesome high school field.
Hokie Twitter is blowing up with "grant in aid" letters coming in. So far Deabolo, Denmark, Jackson, Taylor, Kumah and Lalder are all in.
New OL Offer for B1G Commit
If you don't pay for premium sites
Does anyone know where we stand with Landon Dickerson? Crystal ball predicts Virginia Tech, but I haven't heard much about him. That would definitely be nice if we could swing getting him.
247sports Blacksburg Big Board updated yesterday
Weird because everything I've read is we have no shot with him because of Beamer leaving.
I think I read he posted a Top 3 without us in it, not sure why 247 hasn't updated.
3 Teams still stick out for Dickerson
I'm not VIP but I've heard we're not one of them and we've lost out.
Do you work for 247?
Nope but the answers to the questions are in those threads.
I realize that stuff is behind a pay-wall so you can't share the link or directly quote the article. But you're paying for that knowledge and now that you have obtained that knowledge I think it's fair for you to use it anyway you wish. You can post which 3 schools you "think" Dickerson has narrowed down and we can decide whether or not to believe you. *Wink* *Wink* *Nudge* *Nudge*
Just FYI the information is out there on TSL, TKP, Twitter etc.
Nothing is certain until LOIs are signed of course, but I would say it is a very safe bet that he's going elsewhere.
No thank you. Then I would have to defend myself like I did yesterday. I learned my lesson. However I will give you something. This kid is a confirmed walk-on. Good size good tape.
I don't really want to start this whole discussion again but this irritated me. Here's why.
It's one thing to say "Hey, based one what I've seen around certain recruiting sites I think that schools X, Y, and Z have the best shot. I'm not at liberty to go into further detail so take it for what it's worth"
It's something entirely different to say "FACT: Dickerson is absolutely NOT going to be a Hokie!....I can't tell you why that is a fact because I paid $$ for that fact but it is in fact a FACT"
More often than not, the way in which you present your information says a lot more about you than the information itself. Don't act like the victim because you presented information and everyone jumped on you because of it. Wake up and realize that it wasn't the information people were concerned with but rather the manner in which you presented it. Just sayin'.
Ok thanks have an upvote. Because that is all you will get from me. I'll continue posting links but will never give info that is behind pay wall.
your arrogance is astounding. I'm not looking for hand-outs. I'm not expecting anything from you and I really don't care whether you post links to information behind paywalls or not. That isn't the point. You just don't understand why you've been met with criticism and you're refusing to learn.......it boggles my mind.
I think everyone can respect that, theyve got a business to run, no use exploiting their product.
LOL
Thank you for your contributions, but you aren't coming across as cool as you think.
I will just say this. If you're not willing to share whats in the link, its not worth posting the link. What you're doing is essentially advertising for 247 and trying to get people from here to pay money over there to see content you're advertising over here.
That's bullshit.
TKP and 247, as awesome as both sites are, are competitors putting out their own content, and you're coming across as trying to steal some of the users away from here. Posting links with zero context or explanation to their paywall is pretty bush league, and I'm kinda surprised that its being allowed to continue. If you have something of value to add, please do, but knock this crap off.
Per posting guidelines:
Don't copy and paste content from premium (pay-to-read) websites.
I'm giving information, so others can find information others are searching for. Without breaking guidelines. You want me to steal info and bring it back cause you think you deserve it.
I kindly decline doing that and will give websites out that further conversation whether it be premium or not. If you have nothing better to do than try and argue I will ignore you from here on out like I'm already doing with others.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.
Lets go over this again. Don't post a link if you're not willing to give a summary of the info in the link. Also, don't post content from premium sites. Therefore, don't fucking post links to pay sites.
Let me know which summary you don't understand I'll help you through them.
-New OL Offer for B1G Commit
- 3 Teams Sticking out For Dickerson, wonder what this one is about.
-VT Big Board just like Mcshay and Kiper
- I gave you Austin Cannon for free because it's on Twitter.
Merry Christmas
Look, we all know what you're doing. I'm just suggesting you stop it before the masses turn on you and downvote you to oblivion. And really, if you keep it up, the admins and mods will likely take action, because you are advertising for a premium content competitor.
And cut it out with the sanctimonious attitude. Not doing yourself any favors with that, either.
If I get banned for not breaking rules or guidelines that is weak as shit, and this website is just like everyone on other websites says it is. If you don't conform to the group you are shunned.
You know full well what you're doing, and why you're being called out on it.
Cut it out, Bender.
I got a good laugh at that, great name drop on that one. Turkey Leg for you.
Which player committed to which school?
Which three teams?
Who's on the big board, and in what order?
If you can't answer those questions in a summary, then there's no reason to post it. What you're posting isn't a summary, it's click bait.
Good gif choice haha
Don't post VIP links at all. They serve zero purpose. If people asking those questions had VIP access, they wouldn't be asking questions.
You told me yesterday to post links of the info that's what I am doing. Just because a couple guys are acting like women at a certain time of the month, you contrive into them. However I will agree to stop no problem if everything that has been prior posted to a premium ESPN article, HokieHaven Article/tnread, or 247 article are taken down.
I'm not breaking any guidelines and it's bullshit that you are telling me to stop doing something when I'm not breaking guidelines. If you want to change them fine. But just because everyone piles on one does not mean rules can change for a select few.
Post a link if you have a source of information that people can read. All you're doing is dangling premium content in front of people and effectively trying to use this space to advertise 24/7's services. That serves no purpose. If there is an insightful article or useful information that can be shared, please share it.
The guidelines state the material should not be copied and pasted from behind a paywall, e.g. don't steal. We do a good job (as far as I am concerned) of nipping most of that in the bud. Sometimes stuff gets missed because not everyone reads every article to know where it comes from. If the 24/7 guys have an issue with something that's posted here, they can take it up with us and we will gladly handle it, as we have done previously.
All you're doing is claiming knowledgable status by posting information others can't see. It is considered "noise" here in the comment section. If an article is VIP and you have nothing to share, don't.
And knock off the attitude.
I can go right now and find other premium content on here this website that's why I thought it was ok especially after reading the guidelines. So let me get this straight you can post premium sites as long as you steal their material and put it in your own words. Good to know. I won't be doing that, it is bullshit.
Then don't. And there is no viable or reasonable way to police what everyone says. The guidelines state no copying and pasting of people's articles from premium sites. We can't be held accountable for what other people, who might have other sources of information, might say. Just because someone says the same thing that happens to be posted on 24/7, ESPN Insider, etc. does not mean they necessarily read it there and posted it here to steal it. Maybe they did, but it can't be proven.
Then since it isn't against rules I'll keep doing what I'm doing. Since you are only policing because there are some cry babies on this board, that are mad I won't give them the scoops I pay for, for free. You can't pick and choose your targets, I will stop posting the links when there are clear guidelines and rules against it and every other pay site link has been taken down and not allowed on this board.
At this point it's just about you guys ganging up on someone cause you aren't getting your way. I'm guessing since you chumps are bullies on the keyboards you were most likely bullied in school.
Funny, it's right here:
As I recall, I wrote that particular Guideline.
Each post has a short summary about what it is about. Again I'm not breaking any rules you are fishing for something that isn't there.
I'm honestly curious on what you think you have to gain by arguing intent of the rules with the person who wrote them?
Why would you continue to do that? It's like banging your head against a concrete wall repeatedly and telling yourself that the next time won't hurt.
So he can run back to 247 and be a victim of the mean people at TKP.
Well that first part is unnecessary, sexist, and immature to say the least.
That is not how you use the word contrive.
What say do you have on why and when rules can and can't be changed? Also, if you can't see why posting links to material behind a paywall with no summary is pointless, there's really no getting through to you.
Essentially what you're doing right now is the same as a guy lighting a cigarette in a kindergarten classroom and blowing smoke in a kid's face because there isn't a sign on the wall specifically stating that you can't.
I rarely ever post here, but I lurk often and read the insight provided by others. While I think you were originally attempting to add to the conversation, you have grown extremely condescending and arrogant. I do not subscribe to paysites (ie 247), but your links to articles add no value here and I agree with what others have said, it does come off as trying to advertise for them, as if you work there.
Frankly, I've grown tired of seeing your inflammatory posts litter the boards.
that's a 5 star comment. +1
Then what's the point?
If you're going to post a link that hides everything behind a pay wall, you might as well be posting a link to a Mickey Mouse Club fansite, because it's got about the same amount of useful content pertaining to Virginia Tech football.
The link to the Mickey Mouse Club from would be more useful to me, my kids could at least read the content.
http://disneyjunior.disney.com/mickey-mouse-clubhouse
You forgot one thing: great name. (although it would be better for a QB)
Are you affiliated with 247 in some way?
247 Looks like its Auborn, Tennessee or FSU
He listed his top 6 at the end of August on twitter: Michigan, FSU, Auburn, The Good Guys (VT), Tennessee and Georgia
ESPN - Quick UA Story on Landon
ESPN story has his officials being Georgia, FSU, Alabama and Auburn with holding one spot open in case someone creeps back in or someone new.
And then theres this from a bleacher report article
So, I dont know, it doesnt sound super optimistic at this point.
It appears J.B. Grimes is leaving Auburn, I wonder if this will help us get back into with Dickerson.
https://www.seccountry.com/auburn/auburn-loses-ol-coach-to-former-tigers...
Doubt it, unless something radically changes all the recruiting sites are saying there is no chance for the hokies
I think he's also an FSU lean as well
This again?
You people have to stop getting my hopes up with all these new comments on the recruiting threads that have nothing to do with recruits.
Every Damn day I see new post to this and everytime I get suckered in... I know the holidays are depressing to many but for the love of God take all this shit somewhere else so that the others can actually enjoy these last few days under Beamer's care, while keeping up with real recruiting news. This is not to time to subject many to having to listen to the back and forths of trivial nonsense about who knows what and where they got it from.
And on the other side quit being an arrogant ass know it all, We already have enough of them to deal with on a daily basis, they are called UVA fans! Drink more and type less bullshit, its the gift that keeps on giving all year long!
via GIPHY
Merry Christmas you bunch of jackass' and I mean that with as much love as I have in my heart!
Agree and disagree on this. I agree that I hate that the final days of Beamer's tenure on here is having this kind of distraction. But at the same time, policing ourselves, and having an open dialogue on what is and is not acceptable on here is needed to keep TKP as good a site as it is. So while we all hate these discussions, they are necessary in the grand scheme, even if the timing sucks.
And obviously he doesn't get it. It's like trying to get directions from a mime, he gonna keep on trying to "help" but you still not getting anywhere
Oh I get it you guys want premium info for free then when you get it, you bitch about it saying CZY and Evan don't have sources.
Then I give the links and you guys are mad I didn't write it up where you can read it.
No, we don't want premium info for free.
But if you're going to post a link, then it needs to be worth my time to click on it. If I click on it and just see ten images of "VIP Access", that doesn't do anything for me, and doesn't aid in the discussion. On top of it, the text you put in the link isn't descriptive enough. So, it's just clickbait.
You are so seriously misguided I don't think there is any helping you...just do yourself and everyone here a favor and don't visit TKP. You obviously don't like TKP and TKP quite frankly doesn't like you. Go back to wherever it was you came from and let's all just agree to forget each other and move on. Thanks. Merry Christmas.
So now someone with a paywall to 247 needs to go
Copy and pastegive a synopsis of his martyrdom on TKP. /sMust have struck a nerve on that one. Wow never had a guy go postal before after something I said.
And my analogy was about a mime that sucks!
As a former professional mime who knows his way around town, I took great offense to your first post. I stayed calm and moved on, but now you say I "suck"!!!! You suck!
Why are you the only person in this discussion having this giant "problem" with the guidelines? That defeats your argument as well. Please stop and try to enjoy the holidays. Merry Christmas.
Oh yea, well my dad can beat up your dads.
All at once or one at a time?
I feel like we need a new recruiting thread and change the title of this to "dumb shit"
Change it to "ShockWave digs own grave in December 2015 Farewell Tour"
Looks like someone took the douchecanoe out for a paddle down the river.
More like up shit creek.
Are we there yet?
9 and a half months left.
Don't know Shockwave. Don't care.
Very unlikely Dickerson comes to VT. Most think his final 3 are FSU, Tenn and Auburn. Bama trying to get in.
It's not a 247 secret but Purdue commit OL Dylan Powell was offered. Vice recruited him at Memphis. He is thinking about VT - fwiw.
Jan 22 to be a big weekend with some big names coming in - Bailey, Wells, ...I am sure more names will come out when the time is close.
Sorry if already posted. Didn't read all the posts after seeing some of the BS from some schmuck.
In the grand scheme of things we must all remember... We are all all hokies at heart
Let's be honest, some people on here are more Hokie than others....
Me. I'm talking about me.
/s
Some of us are:

This will be ironic but It amazes me how many people keep replying to Shockwave and adding irrelevant posts. Why don't you guys just ignore what he says and move on? I am not saying I agree or disagree with everything he says, but it's evident he is not going to back down to your posts, so why bother? Let the mods do there job. Even with the leg counter gone, we still have too many leg hunters on here. People feel like they have to comment on every post by Shockwave, knowing he won't change his ways, but they continue do respond.... almost comical. Just my .02
its sort of a double edged sword. I get what you're saying and I generally agree with it. The problem is that he was going to continue posting "noise" regardless of whether people were commenting on it. By responding to his posts and egging him on we were just giving him enough rope to hang himself. Without responding to him he wouldn't have the opportunity to post comments worthy of downvotes and he wouldn't end up being banned. So, the way I see it, either we don't respond to his comments and he continues posting worthless "noisy" posts OR we respond forcefully and get him to show his true colors which in turn leads to the community ban. I know it's annoying in the short term (36 hours or so) but in the grand scheme of things it minimizes those useless comments.
I am sad to say that I kinda like it. I'll see myself out.
hey, to each their own, right? Some people like to argue and debate. Some people don't. A lot of people find other peoples' debates to be annoying or pointless, particularly when they don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. Nothing really wrong with that so long as you keep it all within the guidelines, IMO
I hear what you are saying, I just say if you want to down vote him, then do so, responding to his comments are adding more "noise." Again, just my .02, here I am on this post adding more "noise" or irrelevant posts lol
I have a hard time downvoting just for "noise" though. I only really DV if someone posts something really inappropriate. I have never before serial downvoted someone's posts until Shockwave. If you looked at my DV history I would bet that probably about 75% of my total DVs over the last 3 years were given to random Shockwave posts in the last week.
But to expand on your point, my thought process is a little different than yours. Yes, you're right that responding to his comments just adds to the noise but ultimately it resulted in a fairly swift ban of his account. So there was a huge uptick of noise in a short span of time but the end result is we get no more consistent noise from his spam posts anymore. If we don't add to the noise initially we likely have to deal with his consistent worthless spam posting for the long term.
IDK about you or anybody else on TKP but my preference is to have a 36 hour period filled with lots of noise rather than a constant "hum", if you will, for a much much longer period of time. I think of it like this. I would rather spend an hour in an environment where I have to wear ear-plugs than live in an environment where I don't have to wear ear-plugs but the vacuum is running constantly.
Without letting it go on ad naseum, self-moderation has always been at the heart of the TKP forums. The users themselves have the ability to try to correct unwanted behavior, either through voting or (hopefully even better) dialogue. When confronted with his inconsistencies, he reverted to troll behavior, at which point he got himself banned. This isn't the worst thread derail we've seen, and it got taken care of relatively quickly. Given how infrequent such events are, I'd call this one pretty good overall. Without the community giving him the ability to shoot himself in the foot, it would have been on me to dig through his posting history and arbitrarily -10 him until he was banned. That, I feel, is slightly inappropriate, even if it does serve the higher purpose of getting rid of a problem.
I kinda wish Joe would just set your downvote value at like -10,000 so it really is an instaban. If an established poster goes nuts, your -10 will only be good for blurring individual comments. It would take hours to take down someone with thousands of legs.
I think the idea is that someone with thousands of legs has contributed enough to the boards in the past that unless some egregious offense occurs they don't get instantly banned for something relatively minor.
Yeah, but I think community moderation is sufficient for what you're talking about, keeping an established poster in check for one bad decision. But let's say I decide to indulge in some tasty flakka over the holidays and go batshit crazy on the boards, hurling ethnic slurs like Brenden Motley deep balls, then I need to be gone. Now. And right now unless Joe is on, there's basically no way to do that.
Granted, it's not very likely for an established high-leg poster to do something like that, and Joe would eventually be able to deal with it the next time he was on, but I'm just saying VTGuitarMan has definitely proven himself worthy of a one-click ban power.
It's something I've kicked around and (maybe?) have mentioned to Joe before. I think, ultimately, only he should have the permanent one-click insta-ban power, but it might be useful for me to have a quickly clickable "suspend" account that would also trigger an email to him saying, "hey stuff is going down and needs your review." That would be just a bit short of a nuclear option, which should rarely, if ever, be necessary. It allows a short-term fix that doesn't require him to act immediately (since he's busy running this place plus the rest of his life) and therefore takes some burden off of him, but ultimately still requires a bit of checks and balances to prevent me from going on a madman ban-spree. *evil laugh*
That would basically be the effect of setting your downvote value to an obscenely high number, right? You'd temporarily cripple an offender's account by sending him below -50 legs, but could instantly retract it by resetting your vote on the offending comment, right?
I still think there need to be two separate functions; the ability to hit a really bad comment and blur it is important (e.g. NSFW pictures where -10 works), and that should be separate from nuking someone's account.
I just want the button that's worth -10,000 to actually be labeled "The Nuclear Option"
Vincent Price Thriller Laugh
All those Emma Watson gifs hopefully bought me some leeway.
but I thought someone only has thousands of legs if they already parrot the TKP party line...and post gifs. Lots of gifs.
Yea I get what you are saying, more comments by others leads to more comments by him, which leads to more posts with -10 votes so you or whoever can be more aware what he that person is posting. I'm sure I am not alone, its just annoying that I have to scroll for 5 minutes (sarcastica) to finally get to a post(s) thats worth reading and worthy of me clicking on the topic link. It's really not THAT big of a deal though, just voicing my opinion.
I can understand that. But it's also really easy to shut that stuff up. Once you see something derailing, just hit the arrow at the top of the comment (next to the little button up top) and it collapses any ensuing responses. It won't keep things from showing up as new comments, but it will reduce your need to scroll through all the mess.

Here is his hudl highlight video
edit: listed as an athlete per 247. Looks like another solid fit for Fuente's offensive approach. Lead recruiter is Wiggins.
https://twitter.com/tadarryl/status/679765570829574145
Offers from Auburn, Bama, and Tennessee. Dang
Here's a punter from South Rowan.
6-3 205 other offer is from Army.
He's got offers from Syracuse and The Citadel, too, according to his instagram. Looks to be most excited about the Virginia Tech one though. He seems to be a fan.
I can't believe I just watched Hudl highlights of a punter. Pretty impressive hang time and distance though.
If you are a punter and are good enough to make the Army All American Bowl, there is probably a pretty good chance of you winning the Ray Guy award at least once in your college career.
Oh please please! Can't wait to hear announcers say ".....and there's another long Long punt for Virginia Tech!"
But then that means we punted.
Multiple times.
Do they offer star ratings to punters? I'm honestly curious because there's nothing on 247. Obviously it doesn't matter in general i was just wondering how that factors into useless stats like class rankings?
I wonder if Coach Fuente is having a field day watching these athletic recruits and having a legit shot at them.
Lol "Dead Period"
Lol "Dead Period"
exactly....
Did someone say "dead period"
I think the Guerry signal is up again. For an instate recruit.
might just be in terms of the win last night for basketball ..??
That's my guess. Unless we offered Dorcht and he committed on the spot, I don't know that anyone else was primed.
Seems to me the tweet is about VT beating UVA in both Basketball and Football.
Man, do we need to start a new recruiting forum?
Maybe, in the meantime you can go through and use the little down arrow to collapse the comment chains. Things got a little crazy in this thread with Shockwave.
Yeah but the 500+ comments is getting a little cumbersome to load and keep sifting through, would be great if someone had the time to create a new one with the current commitments and maybe an offer list or target list in the body as well.
I would like a new one as well, I just offered a temporary fix.
shhh its coming!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't know if this is covered elsewhere, but VT should stay in touch with Tino Ellis.
Mike Locksley is rumored to be leaving Maryland, and several recruits headed elsewhere.
http://www.testudotimes.com/maryland-terrapins-football/2015/12/24/10664520/mike-locksley-leaving-terps-walt-bell-dj-durkin
Please notice date on story.
I did. I hadn't seen it before today. Sorry if everyone was already aware of it. In my defense, it came to my attention because The Washington Post also did a story on it today. Perhaps I should have linked that one.
