Greatest catch I've ever forgotten.

So I have a severe addiction to Virginia Tech football, and as I was feeding that addiction tonight I saw what is the greatest catch I've ever forgotten about.

I was up late, it's about 2:00am and I'm watching the 2007 ACC Championship game (cause why not?). Love this game. So many great Hokies on the field, (Macho Harris, Kam Chancellor, Greg Boone, Duane Brown, Vince Hall, Xavier Adibi, the Cam/Orion brothers, Eddie Royal, Josh Morgan, Brandon Flowers) and my all-time least favorite football player... Matt Ryan. Hate what that guy did to Tech, costing Tech a chance at the national title. Love watching this game, just to see Adibi take one to the house on him.

Anyways, this was back when Sean Glennon was getting snaps at QB. Early in the 2nd quarter, he rifles one way to hard to Josh Morgan underneath. The ball ricochets off his hand... and this happens.

BOOOOOONE!!!!!

Love that dude. Miss that dude. What a play. I love how casual he is about it too. Just reaches out that bear claw and snags it one handed before getting hit. No problem. Great reaction time, great hand-eye coordination, great play. Here's another angle.

I don't know how I've forgotten this play, although I was in the stadium for this game (I remember getting woke up that day by my roommate asking me if I want to go to Jacksonville to see it, sleepily saying sure, climbing into a car 20 minutes later, getting out of the car when the highway turned into a parking lot running up and down the road with our car's hokie flag, getting a hotel for free, convincing people to give us their tickets they couldn't sell for free, watching the win, going back to the hotel and watching WVU crap the bed vs pitt(?), being excited about a possible MNC shot but realizing LSU was going to jump us, and hating Matt Ryan forevermore for the lost opportunity... Oh how I love being a Hokie fan).

Just hope ya'll enjoy as much as I do/did.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one that stays up until 2:00 am watching old games. Last year before the GT game I think I watched 4 or 5 of our games from the season before.

Rip his freaking head off!

That seriously sounds like the best day ever.

It literally was. I'd put that day against anyone's best day as a Hokie.

I also miss Greg Boone. Fun to watch that guy while he was in uniform. I spoke to a cousin of his last year after he stopped me during work as I have a VT lanyard. If I remember right, I learned that he's working as a contractor for BAE in Hampton.

Loved Greg Boone. I heard that in his Regional Championship game in High School he was stopped on the one yard line on a two point conversion that would have tied the score. Apparently he was responsible for all but one yard of his team's total offense that game. Not sure how accurate that is but its both unbelievable and believable.

Watched that game from the back of the endzone at Hickory High they were playing Landstown and Deveon Simmons (who would have been a beast had he made it to Tech) hit him low and Percy Harvin finished him off as they stopped him short. Boone was unreal that game, and it was a shame a team had to lose.

Yup I played at Landstown. Very accurate slicktrip, as bowman said. Probably the best high school game I've ever dealt with.

One piece of chatter I heard many times over (though, not from anyone associated with either program) is that Greg Boone's quick transition from QB to TE was why Tech fell out of favor with the coaches at Oscar Smith. That always bothered me. Boone was a team-first guy that embraced his role to contribute. Moreover, he was a top fan favorite. Lane loved yelling, "BOOOONE!," like nothing else, and the Wild Turkey put him over the top.

Boone's one of my all-time favorite Hokies.

I know why I forgot it. I try to phase anything that involved Glennon out of my mind.
