Virginia Tech Offered 2017 RB Kyshaun Bryan

The Hokies dipped into Florida (Fort Lauderdale) to offer 2017 American Heritage RB Kyshaun Bryan. Bryan is a 4-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite. As much as Fuente and his staff want to win Virginia (and they should), Florida has been especially kind to Tech over the years. Enhancing Tech's presence in the Sunshine State is a prudent maneuver.

Who else is glad there is finally a damn turkey emoji and not that stupid ass chicken that was used all the time!!

"Welcome to the Terror Dome." -- Corey Moore

Haha beat me to it!

Umm... Turkey emoji?! when did this transpire?

Few months ago for Apple phones.

...and Fuente puts the 'Canes and the 'Noles on notice. No fear.

All of a sudden, I found myself in love with the world
So there was only one thing that I could do
Was ding a ding, dang my dang a long ling long....

I was a little worried about how friendly Florida would be to us after Richt went to Miami. This makes me very happy. Hopefully, this is a sign that Fuente can keep pulling talent from FL.

If you play it, they will win.

An offer doesn't really mean much though. We might not even be on this kid's radar.

I think we just made his radar

Well that is good to hear.

Uhhh...can I get a BOOM on that news?

I get more giddy every freaking day. This is fantasyland.

Dammit all man. Don't blame the poster...

I wonder if Fuente would have offered this kid if still at Memphis? He could really be feeling his oats. I know I am. This feels like 2000 recruting should have been like, IMO.
I'm stoked right now.

Haven't paid a bit of attention to recruiting until the last 2 years. Who was our last 4 star or better running back?

I think literally all of them on the roster now. I know Williams, Shai, Edmunds and Coleman were all 4-star guys from at least one service, can't remember off the top of my head what McClease was and Travon was a QB.

Really? Dang. I wouldnt have guessed given their performance. Too bad weve had so many injuries.

Yeah I know it. I really dont think 4 stars are what they used to be though. I dont know if there are more 4 stars now than 10 years ago, but we did pretty good with 4 star backs till this crew. Mackenzie was a legit 4 star before his injuries.

No, the difference was that Ryan Williams and DW were not just 4 stars, but top 100 national players (RW was top 50). That's a big gap between them and borderline low end 4 star backs we have on our roster now. Even Shai was just barely in the top 250

I recall that Shai was higher pre-injury, but like in the 150-200 range, not top 100 like RW and DW.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

We have a really good chance to land the #1 VA recruit and elite RB in 2017

Yeah, he is on DW and RW levels and maybe even higher.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Not even close!

National Composite Rankings (National, Position, State)
Ryan Williams - 39, 4, 2
David Wilson - 84, 9, 5
Khalan Laborn - 44, 3, 1

It's close.

(Note: Laborn is an APB, whereas RW and DW were RB)

🦃 🦃 🦃

Go watch him play. He was given the ball almost every play of the 3 games I saw him play. He isn't that impressive to me!

Oh, I know we have had plenty of 4 star RB's. Most of them have been from VA. I just think rolling into FL for them is taking it to a whole 'nother level of confidence, and I like it.

I'm pretty sure Trey Edmunds projected as a LB at this level. McClease got bumped to 4 stars by at least one of the three major recruiting services before signing day.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

No, Trey was always going to be a running back and was a 4-star.

My memory is that he was listed by the services as - and recruited by VT as - both a RB and a LB. To some degree circumstances pushed him to the offensive side. What I don't know - and don't know that anyone outside of a small circle knows - is whether Edmunds had a preference once he got to VT.

I don't know if you want to call me the "small circle" but I've known him, his brothers, and his parents Ferrell and Cookie my entire life.

He was only going to play RB. I pinky promise.

Well there you have it...

#TheMostFlavorfulOfSauces

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

247 disagrees with you. Listed as an outside linebacker.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

I'll take Ferrell and Cookie's word. No offense, since you guys are going off publicly available information, but no.

He played both sides of the ball because he was the best player on the field at a tiny school. He could've played either position but he was never going anywhere that didn't want him as a running back. So it doesn't matter what 247 listed him as.

Now we're in a whole different conversation.

There's a difference between "he didn't project as a running back" (your original assertion) and "he wasn't going anywhere that would play him at LB" (your assertion now).

Trey wanted to be a running back, and was only going to commit to a program that promised him a shot at running back. That's not the same thing as projecting as a running back.

You're right that he was a 4-star recruit. But if the recruiting services were rating him as a LB recruit, that doesn't mean he was a 4-star running back recruit. That's like calling Logan Thomas a 4-star QB recruit.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

Rivals had him as a 4 star rb.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

Maybe you're confusing posts but my original statement was "he was always going to be a running back and yes, he was a 4-star."

Your statement was he "projected as an LB at this level." I never made any comment disputing that some services (and schools) projected him as an LB. So I don't really understand your comment about my assertion changing?

So no, the only thing about the conversation that changed is that you misunderstood my post and began lecturing me on recruiting services.

I hardly think I was lecturing you. Your original comment was just ambiguous and I sought to clarify it.

You said he was always going to be a running back and was a four star. To me, I think the rational interpretation of that statement is that he was a four star RB recruit. My response was simply, no, he wasn't. He was a four star LB recruit. Both 247 and Rivals projected him as a LB and rated him as such, at four stars.

Would he have rated out at 4 stars as a RB? Maybe. We'll never know.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

I just was providing personal insight that I thought added to discussion. Unfortunately the wording overshadowed the insight and it became a discussion on services that weren't relevant to the school or the family.

It definitely added to the discussion, we just got our signals crossed. Since the whole thing started with a reply to me saying he projected as a linebacker by the scouting services, I thought you were refuting that claim.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

Maybe my memory is wrong, but I recall him be listed as both LB and RB on Rivals and Scout (which was a bigger factor then).

Maybe scout. I'm pretty sure Rivals was 100% OLB on him.

The first time I ever heard anything about him playing RB was when it was announced that's where he was practicing, and I remember the conversation being about how we "moved" him to the position.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

Bad link?

That's odd. It opened up just fine for me on my computer when I posted it earlier and just now on mobile when I checked it. Should open to 247's list of 2012 VT commits, listing Trey as an OLB.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

I believe Shai was the last 4 star RB we have had per 247. Marshawn was listed as a 3* as was McClease.

Yeah but others had them 4*. JC and Juice were on Rivals

Coleman: 247C: 4* / 247: 4* / Rivals: 4* / ESPN: 3*
McKenzie: 247C: 4* / 247: 4* / Rivals: 4* / ESPN: 3*
Williams: 247C: 3* / 247: 4* / Rivals: 4* / ESPN: 3*
McClease: 247C: 3* / 247: 3* / Rivals: 4* / ESPN: 3*

Thanks! Had no idea.

ESPN blows

Might be true but unfortunately that's not something that could be concluded based on their ratings of these guys considering their collegiate performance.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Well based on how things panned out, I'd say they were the most accurate haha.

ESPN tends to be stingier with their 4 & 5 star ratings. A lot of Rivals or 247 4-star players are high 3's at ESPN.

Wiley, Brown, Russell, Drakeford, Gray, Banks, Prioleau, Charleton, Midget, Bird, McCadam, Pile, Hall, Green, Fuller, Williams, Hamilton, Rouse, Flowers, Harris, Chancellor, Carmichael, Hosley, Fuller, Exum, Jarrett

What's the scoop on McClease and DJ Reid? Is either expected to become a contributor?

McClease yes, Reid.. maybe.

I don't care so much about winning Virginia as I do getting the best players that match our system. If we dip into Florida at the expense of a few VA kids so be it so long as they fit our scheme.

Keep calm, Gobble on

I like it!

Fuente!

Going to have to beat out CClemson and Florida. Brent Venables is the primary recruiter for him from Clemson. Wonder who Florida has on him... oh... oh... OHHHH...

Ah, the memories:

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

Clemson just flipped the #1 rated 2017 QB from Tennessee. That is a tough battle, but I am glad to see the staff get in the dirt and try to battle the big boys.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Reading these comments, I almost forgot that this is just an offer, not a commitment.

___

-What we do is, if we need that extra push, you know what we do? -Put it up to fully dipped? -Fully dipped. Exactly. It's dork magic.

They also got a 5 star defensive tackle in the same day. Scary.

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Clemson being "one of the big boys" is justifying over 30 years of irrational Clemson fan mindset. I am not happy about it. I cannot stress enough how annoying it is growing up and living in upstate SC.

I feel your pain, grew up in Mecklenburg county NC and had Tarheel fans all around.

Keep calm, Gobble on

I live there as well. Listening to clemson fans at work every day about the playoff and 5* recruits makes for a long day at work.

That's what winning will do for you! Not gonna win those battles unless you're winning and relevant in the national scene.

I am optimistic that Fuente gets us back there. It doesn't have to take long - Clemson's only been winning consistently for five years or so and relevant to the national discussion in three of those.

Clemson recruited well during their 30 yr malaise too.

Those unis though...

I don't know which game had more rain. This one or the BC Thurs night.

J'Fu!!

@VTimHokie85

Looks like we need to recruit his OL. Damn, those are some BIG holes they opened up for him!

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

Sweet, if he comes he can compete with Drew Harris for snaps!

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

That O-line tho...

Onward and upward

We've had luck with Kyshauns (kyshoen) before! Hopefully it continues.

May we all get what we want and never what we deserve.

This tape reminds me of TJ Logan's.
