Charley Wiles made an in-home visit to Bailey last week, and Bailey plans to make his official visit to Virginia Tech on January 22, 2016.

One of my best friends' from up here on the Cape daughter just got admitted to her dream school - Virginia Tech. They were literally crying with joy when they got the acceptance letter the other day. It must have been my letter of recommendation...
My step-daughter is a senior in high school and just got her binding acceptance to VT on Friday! She is all in as a Hokie! Took her to the NC State game to seal the deal.
She credits me and my passion for everything VT for steering her in the right direction....her older sister went to the dark side (the older daughter does not enjoy Thanksgiving time - LOLuva).
I'm 22 and was a senior in high school 5 years ago so I guess I'm still considered one of the youngest on here.

I haven't watched his film, but if he was a fit for Wiles he'd most likely have an offer. DT Jarrod Hewitt (Venice, FL) has a Tech offer and is of a similar rank. Tech's coaches do their own player evaluations.

I'm a fan of the way the defensive coaches at Tech do their homework on a kid, they don't offer because some rating service has him high or some other school has offered.
I remember when it was rumored that Larry Coker offered kids at Miami based on their Rivals rating.

I only watched a few minutes but on a lot of those plays he wasn't even blocked or attempted to be blocked. He had some quick hands on other plays but man, how is he not accounted for every play by the offense.

Sorry to bump the thread without any real news on Bailey but I just wanted to say that if any of you all need a reason to hate Tennessee fans before Bristol (if you haven't found one already), I urge you to look at the comments they're giving Bailey on Twitter in regards to Virginia Tech. I wouldn't think that sort of low class from fans on Twitter would be too appealing to Bailey, but I am glad his visit to Tennessee is before his one at Tech. I like our chances.

I'm afraid that we're not going to end up getting Bailey. He visits Virginia Tech next weekend, but is visiting Tennessee this weekend. He seems to really be high on Tennessee. He posted pictures and videos from his dinner in Knoxville to his twitter and you can hear Bob Shoop really working him in the background. "And you, my man, are the first guy I followed on Twitter."
That doesn't mean anything, pretty normal for recruits to post lots of stuff on twitter during an OV

So when we have him, and Wells, and Powell, and Bonner, and Nygel King, AND Durr AAAAND Pigrome in The Burg this weekend, it had better be a helluva show. These next 2 weekends are chock full of opportunities for Fuente & Co.
Bonner isn't coming. Bailey said he almost committed this morning and Tennessee was by far his favorite, big difference than just saying good things about the school. Weather isn't looking great either

Well, Wells told maryland if they offered he would visit on Jan 29th. My assumption is that means he isn't very committed to Florida since that is when his Florida visit is scheduled for, hopefully that is enough. Although TBQH I think Wells is a bigger get for us than Bailey, he would have a good chance of playing right away whereas Bailey wouldn't see the field for 2 years

It's normal for HC to go in home and visit recruits. Unfortunately that was Beamers downfall at the end, he wasn't out there getting the face to face time required to land the big time recruits.

Well? He wasn't. You didn't often see kids on Twitter with a living room full of VT coaches, especially Beamer, while we saw other HCs all over the place. And those were the teams getting big recruits.
I understand the call for respect for Beamer, but I don't see how stating the facts of our recruiting history is disrespectful.
Frank did in homes, I think it was reported that after his surgery last year though the number dropped off
People have short memories. The thing they remember is seeing Jimbo and Meyers doing in-homes while Beamer was at speech therapy and essentially playing Bubble Boy. There's no doubt Fuente is kicking things up a few notches, but to say Beamer never did in-homes is just ignorant.
Beamer did a lot of in homes and hospital visits, as LTRepeter mentioned. There was the whole Macho Harris story. But he didn't rack up the miles like Jimbo, Les, and Nick do.
Just to throw this in there VT doesn't have the budget to put the miles in that those two schools do every year.

There is a lot of talk about recruiting budgets, but the USAToday article about this fall said we were like $100K short of Clemson. GT had a bigger recruiting budget than Clemson by like $300K.
I would like to know more about where recruiting budget money is spent. Is that in personnel? Travel for recruits further afoot? Food, lodging on official visits? I'm never seen reports of VT not being able to bring kids in on official visits, that seems a lot more expensive than in-home visits.
Beamer didn't just do house calls, he did hospital calls with Macho Harris after he saved his family's home and his siblings by putting out a grease fire that left him with third degree burns. I can remember hearing other stories of similar trips for recruits that got significant injuries during games and were laid up. Did his house visits slow down in the last couple of years? That's entirely possible but they didn't cease to happen.
So this isn't related to you BWade but to some of the comments...
I think Frank was an awesome guy. He had some amazing stories about how he treated people. He did not have the greatest social media presence however and that is what people are reacting to. Frank liked to work quietly behind the scenes. He got things done because he wanted to. CJF seems to have a bit of flair and a chip on his shoulder and I love that. I think people are excited about something new.
It's like a break up. Yeah, you loved your ex for a long time and in many cases, you want them to succeed in everything they do and they'll always have a special place in your heart and mind. BUT DAMN! That hot brunette just walked into your life and you are going straight to the top baby!
