Staff on 247 said Loeffler already has a pretty good gig set up. You wouldn't believe how much people were losing it about that one. You'd think that the guy had personally wronged each and every one of them instead of leaving the offense in a fuentastic position going forward.

That's because 247 is the cesspool of VT "fans"

Now let's be civil here...

Well cesspools do fall under the field of "civil" engineering.

Hey now, with comments like that you may just send a shockwave through the VT fan community...

.....Too soon?

Using /s is for cowards.

If I am being honest, based on his track record, I wouldnt necessarily be happy if he was announced OC at whatever school he ends up at, if I were a fan of said school. QB Coach I would be happy about, but I really hope wherever he goes as long as we dont play them ha, I hope he has tremendous success.

It wouldn't surprise me to see him land at BC

I was actually just thinking that. He was very successful under Addazio at Temple.

There's plenty of room for discussion about his in-game decisions, but looking where we were in 2012 compared to where we are in 2015, I really can't be too upset with Loeffler at this point. I'm hoping/thinking other schools will see things that way too.

VT's offense just helped set a bowl record for points scored in a bowl game.

The offense won the Tulsa game.

I agree with you, the least we can do is give Loeffler a little credit.

Is it official that Shane won't be back? I haven't heard anything official concerning him.

There is nothing in the world like Thursday night in Blacksburg!

Do we have a full boat WRT coaches now?

Correy

Just spit-balling here, but wouldn't it be kind of awkward for Fuente if he keeps Shane?

I think so....He already has to follow a legend, why would you want to keep the legend's son on staff? I really like Shane but for the betterment of the program I think Fuente has to keep him off the staff, at least for a few years.

Yea, I agree... I think it would kind of be like having a 'silent evaluation' against how things used to be hovering over you constantly, just from Shane's presence... Nothing negative meant by this, but just a potential feeling from keeping him on staff.

If he made the move to defense with Bud, I don't think that would be a problem. There just isn't enough positions to find him a role though.

The rumor I've heard is that he won't be left unemployed, but it would be some sort of administrative role. I doubt that happens though, he'll find a job that fits. It would be great to see him land a head coaching position at a small school so he can begin climbing the ladder.

I don't think we have any room for him on the field based on who's coming from Memphis. I think we're at the limit.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

There is still no announced LB coach.

Scott seems pretty assured

Based on what #sauces? I've only seen one website claim this.

Yeah, we also don't have an OC/QB coach, but we had #sauces for Cornelsen. We'll probably know everything by tomorrow, since Memphis has their bowl game today.

"Exit light..."

Yep. Shouldn't be too long now. Honestly, if we haven't named a position coach by now it's pretty likely that they're coming from Memphis. If Shane had an on-field spot he'd be announced by now.

Mucho benefits from retaining Bud, Wiles, Gray & Burden. Personally I like Shane a lot but if he has a desire to become HC material, he needs to go pursue that.

I'm really kind of surprised that Stiney wasn't retained in some sort of a recruiting role. I think he's done a great job in that capacity over the past years. Any thoughts?

Proud Richmond and 70 Hokie

Although Stiney was a great asset to have on the recruiting trail he's not the only stud recruiter who has ever walked the earth. I like him and think he's a great person but I'm perfectly fine with a clean sweep of the offensive coaching staff. No need to do any favors and keep anyone around just because. They're all capable individuals who will land on their feet elsewhere. Bring in fresh blood across the board. I think that's the best recipe for success.

I do agree however, I'm not sure if Vance Vice is better than Searels as an O-line coach. But I do understand in order to implement his scheme, Fuente had to bring in Vice.

Here is my opinion:
On the subject of incoming coaches, I think Brad Cornelsen will the OC and play-caller and on-paper also named the QB coach but I think Fuente will really be the QB coach in many aspects. I think Fuente will be putting his stamp on the offensive game plan and off-course as the head coach will be in on the loop for defense as well.
I don't think there is any guarantee that Galen Scott will be he LB coach. I believe Cornell Brown was coaching the Rover and Whip while Bud was coaching the Mike LB and the Backer positions. One possibility is that Shane could be kept on the staff as a Rover/Whip Coach along with being a Recruiting coordinator. This would make sense since he has done a similar role in the past at Mississippi State.

Before addressing the potential places for our old coaches, I'm looking at the open FBS coaching positions for Assistants and there isn't a whole lot open. Here is the link

Lefty – I believe Lefty had a real good reputation as a position coach (QB) but as an OC, he's only had one good, solid season at Temple. I think if he were to be in a position to be an OC at a slightly lower-level school (Non-Power 5) for a little bit, I think he could really build himself up. There aren't a whole lot of OC positions available (A few in the west, Duke, Pitt, Cincinnati, LA-Lafayette, Arkansas St), I think he would dominate in the Sunbelt, but I think if he were to go to Cincinnati it would be a good fit working with an experienced coach, AAC is a solid conference, good mid-western ties and a chance to be in a stable position. I think Duke and Pitt will be a little hard for him to get into at the moment considering his time at VT wasn't exactly the best but never say never. I do believe that Lefty is a solid football mind, I do still question some of the play calling but overall he is a good OC.

Searels – I believe he will be a Power-5 O-line coach, Arkansas has an opening and jumps out to me right now.

S. Beamer – I think for Shane to get a head coaching position, his best bet would be to become a Special teams coach, he was pretty much running the special teams anyway and it'll give him perspective from both sides of the ball. If it were right now and he really wanted to become a head coach, I'd say take the FCS route and hopefully get into FBS in 3 years, but even there a whole lot of jobs aren't open. I do see that the Colorado Special-teams coordinator position is open but I just don't see him in the Mountain West but who knows. I think he'll be coaching in some capacity in 2016. He has good contacts in the SEC, even a school like Vanderbilt for running backs coach is a possibility.

Stiney – I think he can still be an O-line coach or even an offensive coordinator perhaps at a slightly lower level FBS School. But the head coaching possibility at Tenn-Tech is really intriguing and I hope he gets it.
Brown – I really felt for Brown after hearing about him being let go. He was one of my favorite players my freshmen year in 1995. I think he should be a D-line coach considering his playing position and he was the assistant D-line coach here and D-line coach in NFL Europe. I'm not sure where he'll end up but Army, Purdue and Texas Tech do have D-Line positions open, I think he could coach any of those teams D-Lines.

It's unclear what role the 52-year-old Stinespring will fill at JMU. The Citadel hired Houston's offensive coordinator, Brent Thompson, as the new head coach there last week.
