Not a great look for Memphis. This is the second incident Memphis has had at a bowl game, fight against BYU being the other. Not something I want to see brought to Tech.

I'm really hoping that sort of thing doesn't migrate to VT.
I'm OK with a few hijinx and shenanigans. I can even get behind the occasional breakout of tomfoolery.
Me, too, but tackling the ball boy of another team to take one of their footballs is douchebaggery.
We may need it in order to be able to compete with the new dirty loluva team persona. Oh yeah, add the sarcastica thing.
Siri says #38 is a DB. If this happened at Tech I think you would see Foster tackling #38 and taking the ball back to Auburn
Couple of angles here, and the same video as in the OP, only larger.

It keeps wanting me to download an app to "unlock" the page
On mobile, or computer? No such problem on my laptop.

Plays fine on mine. Page has a bunch of ads; make sure you're not clicking on any of those.
According to ESPN, Reggis Ball has been dismissed from the team, even though he's a redshirt senior.
Memphis Dismisses Reggis Ball
How was this not on the Memphis staff's mind after he had 2 interceptions in the game?
Fuente will have to make sure his players settle for taking turf from opponents' fields and keeping it in the lunchpail.
I know this is bad, but I am laughing so hard right now. Omg what even? Why in the world would you do that??
Tackling the ball boy was bad but if the biggest thing we have to worry about is a player taking a ball after the game under the Fuente regime (without tackling a non player) then I think we will be ok.
They ought to press charges...against whomever recorded that portrait-oriented video. That is definitely the more heinous crime
I have been at work and only managed to see Memphis was losing early on. I had to open a quick window when examining this post to see if maybe Memphis had some kind of come from behind miracle win that justified this joker wanting the game ball. Then it was... hmmm...I see Memphis lost...
To me, the story here is...YOU LOST THE GAME, JUNIOR!!!...WTF?!!!
Douche.

Signed the ball and posted on instagram.
I'm glad his brother Reggie Ball isn't backing him on this.
Surprised he didn't go to bat for him.
They really are brothers?
How interesting is it, then, that both of them got dismissed from their respective teams near the end of their senior years...
What a disgusting piece of trash. Regardless of records, if we start seeing that type of behavior at Virginia Tech (and I seriously doubt we will), I will be ready for a new coach.
I find this story hilarious - a guy named Ball caught stealing balls because he had a history of stealing balls.
I always thought when you make an int in a bowl game, you should be awarded a $15 football. I'm just not sure why he didn't just get the balls from his own team, though, instead of stealing them from the opponents sideline. You think the balls were meant for his trophy case, or the dude has a side biz selling footballs?
He does it when he makes an interception. When you intercept a ball it is the opposing teams ball, I would guess that is why he wanted one of theirs.
Yeah, I would assume because every team has their logo on their own ball, he wanted one to commemorate the INT with the team's logo. Kind of a cool idea but regardless, stealing is illegal and shouldn't be tolerated. I would have tried to just purchased one (not sure how) instead but then again, I can't say I only made smart decisions when I was in college.
not to mention assaulting the ball boy
I don't think the wrestling match happens if Memphis doesn't warn Auburn that this guy likes to steal game balls if he makes an interception. I bet usually he can usually just saunter up to the equipment cart, grab one and go. This time Auburn's equipment staff was on the lookout and interfered.
What I don't understand is why he just doesn't keep the actual ball he intercepted, I guess the refs require its return to the other team for use later in the game?
Correct. What bothers me about this situation the most is that it has obviously happened before and HE HASN'T BEEN PUNISHED FOR THEFT!!!! I'd bet that if he composed a well-worded and sincere letter to send to each school requesting a game ball, he'd likely have almost as many trophies without the possible legal repercussions (plus some neat reply letters).
I'm surprised he still did this after a losing effort. Just shows that some guys put themselves over the team.
Welcome to the 901!
I think as long as no one gets hurt, it's hilarious...like painting someone else's football field before a big game, or maybe making sure your school logo is built into your arch rival's new basketball court.
Not really, once you step over the line from just taking a ball from a table to assaulting someone to get said ball you have crossed a line that should NEVER be crossed.
i don't think it's been established that he assaulted anyone
At a minimum it's battery. But adding in the fact he was using force to take an object assault is a simple term for what was really a robbery.
Your two examples are honoring your team, not yourself.
good point. leg for you
