Wished we had been doing it all along, especially under Beamer. They are all fair game till the signature on the dotted line. Think about David Wilson and Ford. Other coaches calling right up to signing day.

If it opens up avenues of communications with future prospects and "Hokie" high school talent pools (think Del Ray Beach, FL/Atlantic HS), I am good with it. This is more about rebranding the program instead of 2016.

Maybe a bit of that but I think it mostly has to with Fuente & Co being efficient with what little time they have this recruiting season and going after guys are they already had connections with.
I think we'll quickly see a shift back to mostly Mid-Atlantic recruiting focus with perhaps a little expansion into a few new areas due to the new staff having those connections.

If you read the profile then you noticed that he holds an offer from Memphis, also. Since Wiggins has had contact with him in the past means he is familiar with his skillset. An offer from a better school like VT cannot hurt. It is not like it is a total hail mary. There is some type of prior effort to establish a relationship in the past. The former Memphis staff is in a better position IMO to leverage that now than while at Memphis. Besides all of the reasons like better school, facilities and tradition we can offer them a stipend. Schools that are a member of the Power 5 conferences can do that.

Despite the light-hearted jest, which I get. However, reality sets in when Jenneke the runner has an engineering degree from Syndey University. And while I wish the girl in back left the best, the amount of financial struggles Spain has, it's more likely than not she will not be making $100K. Well, at least she's young enough that Spain will likely rebound by the time she begins her career.

My question might belong in the thread on flexible helmets, but do those helmets actually fit those kids' heads? I am not sure whether or not I ask that in jest or out of concern.
Anyway, as they get older, I suppose, many of those kids will realize their best moves are on the dance floor instead of the football field and they'll end up here on TKP with the rest of us. One of them though will grow into a 6'17" tight end and get us a penalty after scoring the winning TD the next time we play OSU in the NC game in 2026.

I say it absolutely does. Case in point, Jaquan Yulee. Bama commit that recently decommitted. Since we kept at it, we're now in the national conversation for potentially landing a huge recruit that seemed locked to an SEC team. High school students are very flexible on what a "commitment" is. In other words...

I really love the fact that Fuente and the staff are getting after it no matter what.
Recruit committed to an SEC program this year?
Screw it he fits our system so offer him.
This no fear approach is so nice to see, we're offering blue chip recruits and the coaches are making a ton of visits. I cannot express how happy I am that they are marketing our program in the same light as we see it (not that we didn't before). There is a bright future ahead for us.

When we have more than a punter commitment then I will start to get excited... I could offer the top 150 recruits as a head coach, but I have no idea how to actually go recruit them and reel them in.

Totally agree, can't really tell much about this years class in general as its not a full effort by the current staff. Plus you can never tell until the kids hit the practice field regarding what you really got.

I like it, keeping asking all pretty girls out and eventually you build up your confidence enough to get them to say yes and steal them away from their boyfriends...

On a side note, I've found you Jolly.

How do you know my name O_o
Because...

But nahh, I nicknamed you that freshman year.
I got an standing offer for Tiffany Amber Theissan. Been on the table for about 20 years now.
I want to know if JJ Watt ever closed the deal with her
do you guys think that offering to prospects who are already committed to other schools will help us?

It could.
Perhaps VT is spending valuable time and resources on pipe dreams. It costs less to do these days, but there's still a cost.
Then again, I'll defer to the coaches. It's their neck on the line.

...and Memphis beat Ole Miss and we are like a better version of Memphis now. It's clear, VT>Ole Miss.
I agree about the prior relationship, they may know he's not solid on Ole Miss.
We will be Memphis on steroids figuratively and "Fuentively" speaking... or I will mint and coin the term "Fu Speak" right now>
That makes us back-to-back transitive champions, then.
Ain't no wrang on that finger until February 3rd.
How prospects are treated until NSD.
Friday has me like.....
I can't tell if the girls in the background are disgusted or just really concerned...
Jealous, maybe?
Only until they hit 30 and the girl on the back left is making $100k while the girl in the front is waiting tables at IHOP.
(This is of course overly stereotypical and should be taken as a lighthearted jest. I know awesome people who work at IHOP.)

I'd like to take her to a nice seafood dinner and call her afterwards.
Keep the GIF train going?

Okay.

*cough cough* 2016
OSU isn't going to the NC in 2016
Not after losing what 17 players.

I read this as Jason Street at first, and I was like 5 star QB from Dillon TX???

But I'm worried about Fuente's recruiting ability.....
When we have more than a punter commitment then I will start to get excited... I could offer the top 150 recruits as a head coach, but I have no idea how to actually go recruit them and reel them in.
Yep. And we won't know much about Fuente's acumen as a recruiter this offseason one way or another.

We deserve the pretty girls and we all believe it so let's act like it.
"Oh you have an offer from ____...
ok so what? we are Virginia Tech"
