VT vs UNC Time Change

For all those who were planning on watching our team take on UNC tomorrow, the game has been rescheduled.

"Due to continued weather conditions, the North Carolina at Virginia Tech game, originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 24, will now tip at 3:00 p.m."

You can still catch the game on television on ESPNU at the normal 6:30 PM time slot.

I'm confused. Why would they push it to an earlier time?

I'm assuming so that everyone can get out of there before the sun goes down and everything freezes again. Just speculation.

I'm super worried about what this will do for our home environment. I don't think word will get out to all the students/season ticket holders in time seeing as it's only been posted on social media and the Hokie Sports website just now.

So anyone traveling can get home earlier. Not sure why they can't televise live, nobody will watch a delayed telecast of a game they already know the outcome of. Especially not with a little game between the Panthers and the Cardinals being played at the same time.

I watched most of it, even knowing we lost close, but did flip back and forth. Panthers game was not any more suspenseful.

This is what was sent through email to the students:

Your ticket for the next Virginia Tech home basketball game has been posted to your account.

NOTE: Due to the weather, the game time has been moved up to 3 PM. A ticket is still required for admission to the game.

All student tickets including student season tickets are now posted directly online at: http://www.hokietickets.com/student/lottery/pick.php
A couple days prior to each event all season ticket holders, and all lottery winners will receive an email notifying them that seats have been posted. Once that email is received, all you need to do to print your ticket is log on and click the ticket link.

Keep in mind that you must print the ticket to be scanned at the gate for admission. There is no mobile scanning at Virginia Tech sporting events, so bringing your phone for admission will not work. Also keep in mind that since tickets are being delivered automatically to a secured account, no replacements or reprints will be offered.

NEW FOR BASKETBALL THIS SEASON: Students who win the lottery but do not use their ticket to the game potentially could miss the opportunity to attend future home games during the season. Students will be provided with reminder emails after the first and second non-attended game. After the third non-attended game, the student will be ineligible to win the lottery for the remainder of the season. If you can not attend a game, feel free to give your ticket to another student who would like to go. Any student with a valid Hokie Passport may use a student ticket. The name on a student ticket does not have to match the Hokie Passport used with the ticket.

Soooo....students still get penalized for not going. Awesome.

Students who habitually don't attend games after being given tickets from the lottery won't be given tickets anymore, yes.

Bad News: Huge Pats fan here. Moving the game up to 3 means I can't go. Good News: I gave the ticket to my roommate because the student section sold out and he didn't get a ticket through student lottery!!

I held season tickets for basketball all 4 years and that was easily one of the top 3 games I attended (beating Duke on Dowdell's three and blowing out #1 UNC being the other two).

Cassell Guard! This is your call to arms!

Blackouts should not apply. That's only the case when it's broadcast somewhere on TV. Since it's only being rebroadcast later, there shouldn't be any issues with blackouts.

Unfortunately no, I didnt know about the game time change and couldnt get to do a writeup because we lost cable and internet at about 8Pm on Friday and didnt get it back until about 8Pm Sunday. We did still have power though so I cant complain too much. There still was alot of bourbon consumed over the weekend regardless of basketball. Being trapped inside with two small children for 48 hours will do that to you.
