OT: Cam Newton Hater Gets Owned

Link Here

This quote stuck out:

Folsom in fact wrote a similar but less-incendiary (and far less-circulated) column criticizing Newton for the site one month earlier, pre-draft. But after the Panthers picked the quarterback, Folsom says his Bleacher Report editor told him: "You need to rewrite it and make it a bit more controversial. Actually, you need to make it a lot more controversial."

Annnnnd this is why I don't read Bleacher Report.

Meh... the guy could have just NOT written the article. Thing is, he admits he wrote a similar article before the draft and was asked to do it again after. Considering his twitter picture has him in a Gators hat, I'm suuuuuure there was no ulterior motives to what he was doing. He made his bed and now he's pissy that people remembered it and are actively calling him out on it. In fact, per that article, he's still doling out backhanded compliments every opportunity he gets.

It has been very interesting this year to see all the negative things that were said about him leading up to and immediate after the draft be proven so undeniably wrong.

I wanted Cam to be a bust mostly because his dad's a dick who most likely sold Cam's services to the highest bidder.

No denying his talent though.

Cam is just so likeable though. I don't think I've ever seen an athlete that little kids love more than Cam.

He thoroughly looks like he is actually enjoying himself on the field. Everyone looks like they are all business but Cam looks like he's having fun. When coaches say "go out and just have fun" he took it to heart. I mean it's pretty cool to see him enjoy it that much.

I had a family member who went to the game last night tell her 5 year old son that he couldn't go because little kids usually don't go to games.

Needless to say, that excuse backfired.

This team is so much fun

The story of this particular kid s really awesome/sad.

Will try and find a link, but the little man was attending the game with his uncle. His father had always promised to take him to a game, but passed unexpectedly. His uncle ended up getting tickets for that game.

For Cam to give the kid a ball more or less randomly because that's just what he does, talk about an amazing moment he will remember forever.

I do find myself becoming a huge Cam Newton fan, for a myriad of reasons, not least of which for what he does for kids for what appear to be completely genuine reasons.

Yes, I remember reading about it. Truly awesome - even though Cam didn't know the story behind it before - seems truly fitting that he received the ball.

Agree that post college, I'm finding him more likeable. Good marketing doesn't hurt. That Gatorade bit where he give that guy in the convenience store a sweaty hug had me laughing hard.

There are vocal doubters about first round picks all the time. Seems pretty insignificant to me and unworthy of the headlines now. Looks like Cam fans would just be happy he was wrong.

Humorous stuff... But this is typical media, throw (write) something obscure and predictive and if it happens to come true, "Me! Me! Me! I'm the one who said it first!! Told ya so!".

Another point he was dead wrong about, Timmy T....

"Let's ask Denver Broncos fans if they would like to trade Tebow for Newton straight up. They would laugh in your face. Football fans know even if the experts have no clue. We can spot a fraud when we see one. In five years, when Tebow is leading Denver into the playoffs and Cam Newton is riding someone's bench, remember this article."

Oh well, always fun to hear and read all the dirt that the mainstream media digs up in an attempt to discredit , especially when they approach the pinnacle of their sport.

Would it not just be the ultimate kick in the groin to this article if Cam Newton ends up beating the Broncos in the Super Bowl led not by Tim Tebow, who long ago was proven not to be NFL caliber, but Peyton Manning, who is one of the best QBs to ever play the game. I mean, that is literally the final missing piece in making this one of the most wrong things ever said on the internet, which is saying something.

It would, but I really find myself torn. I would love for a super bowl win to be Peyton's swan song. At the same time, Cam is just so damn likeable!

Haha, yea. Those careers paths according to this hack are the complete opposite. Quite the irony. Especially since this guy was just, what BR calls a "contributer", and 7LoP's reason for not reading BR. Definitely exhibit A to not take much from this site seriously...

Cam is a beast and he deserves MVP...but I bet he actually does all this dancing crap in real life when he's working out. Haha just saying

From what I've seen of Cam since he was drafted by Carolina (when I started to pay attention) I wouldn't bet against it actually. The guy enjoys himself.

Hah....

Some idiot out in Seattle has created a Petition to ban Cam Newton from Century Link Field when the two teams play in the regular season next year.

It truly is impressive how quickly the Seattle fanbase went from the nation's darlings to insufferable looneys.

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

Insufferable indeed.

This is absolutely HILARIOUS. Just scrolled through the comments and basically the majority of those who signed it, signed it just to call the creator a jackass. Which is well worth the click and scroll.

Also humorous is the Seahawk fan base in general. Surfaced from nowhere in 2012, stole aTm 's COPYRIGHTED 12th man moniker and has marked history of calling kettles black. They are quickly becoming the laughing stock of the league's other fanbases, and rightfully so... Always root for BamBamKam, but man they're making it tough these days.

Seahawks were definitely using the 12th man concept when they lost to the Pittsburgh Referees in SB 40. Matter of fact, it dates back to 1984 for them. (They did have to settle in court with aTm about a decade ago though.)

You're right on everything else. Where were all these fans a decade ago?

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Sure, they may have been using it in 1984, but how many people were really aware of that. (Other than Steve Largent). They still ripped it off aTm. It may not have been 'officially copyrighted' in 1984, but I'd say the Aggies have had the moniker cornered since AT LEAST 1930... http://12thman.tamu.edu/ .

This much is true. I bet a lot of the new Seahawks fans, though, couldn't tell you that the team was in the AFC until 14 years ago.

Looks like Seahawk fans could use some of this
