Army All-American punter Marshall Long has stepped back from his commitment to Virginia Tech, he announced via Twitter.
"After throughly talking with family and important figures in my life, I have decided to de-commit from Virginia Tech. I feel this decision is best for me and my family. I wish nothing but the best for Virginia Tech."
Long committed to the Hokies earlier this month.

Well, I guess this is what it feels like to a smaller program when we snatch one of their commits right before signing day.
I got $100 says he ends up at Georgia...
They've got more than that saying he's going too
It seems like it is Georgia. Apparently they offered him a preferred walk on spot and he's now visiting there this weekend. Free article here.
Damn Shane, how you gonna do us like that?
If true, it's even more baffling. Why would a guy give up a full scholarship in order to go somewhere that he MIGHT pick one up eventually? Does Georgia have some vaunted punter development program that I don't know about?
My sauces say he really wanted to go to UGA but Tech offered him a full ride so he wanted to secure his spot in case UGA had no place for him at all.
Maybe he realized that we won't be the VT of old and our punter isn't going to be used as much as in years past.
I like that way of thinking.
That didn't last Long.
I'll see myself out
Yeah, looks like he's Long gone.
That's what she said!
Convincing him to come and play for a team that will score every possession was a Long shot anyway.
So long, kid! Good things to you and if we meet again, here's to a very active day for you.
Somebody get Bud to head down to Walmart.
SHANK YOU, SHANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Best of luck, Long!
How long before VT lose Long? Not that long.
Long luv us short time.
So long.
Why'd Shane have to pick now to get his groove back?
Maybe because, contrary to popular belief, he doesn't actually suck as a recruiter.
I think it's probably because Georgia is a "national" program.
