Something has to be off here, in 2009 his school pay was under 300k and then jumped up to over 2 mil, but then his other pay took a dive? Seems like they have some data wrong or something. Also seems weird that his other pay is holding exactly at 85k.

That just has to do with what is considered "base salary" and what is considered "bonuses", and I can't figure out a difference except for what they choose to call each portion.

I wonder if the discrepancies are just accounting quirks, i.e. what Beamer gets paid directly from VT vs. what he is paid from the Athletic Department's separate account. Interestingly, Beamer is listed as a "Professional Lecturer" in the state's salary database.

Well, what I was actually trying to get at was Beamer's salary vs. other top college football coaches. It's a wake-up call to where our athletic department is compared to other power conferences. It's a good salary, but Frank is barely above the conference median and we are being dwarfed by pretty much all of the SEC/Big10/12.

It wouldn't surprise me if he voluntarily keeps his salary low (relative to other coaches at least) for the betterment of the program. I think I remember hearing/reading that Dabo Sweeney took a pay cut so he could bring Chad Morris in.

Nice coin. He deserves every red cent.
First thought: Damn Beamer's only 10 years younger than my grandmother
Second thought: I love that lady
Third thought: He's way richer than her
Those Krogers spots have really paid off!

Andy Bitter to the rescue (as usual):

His lectures on coach speak are legendary
I didn't think he made that much. They probably don't have real numbers and are guessing at the components.

We also don't quite have the $$ that most of the SEC and B1G 14 have.

Most of his "salary" is paid by donations to the Hokie Club. I think other big conference schools are similar.
