Is there any position this kid doesn't play well?
Can't imagine he would be too effective in the trenches ;)
You haven't seen the new QB -> TACKLE conversion plan?
VT law of positional transitive properties:
QB=TE
TE=OT
Therefore QB=OT
You joke but....
J-Lo always gets a leg from me
Ok here you go...
Wow, QB, OT, and mascot? That's impressive!
Also picked up a offer from Rutgers this week.
Very fun highlights to watch, changes direction very quickly.
Man that kid is quick.
Also even though his mechanics look like they could use work, he still makes some really nice throws.
Cb for us?
Hot damn! This kid's awesome! Hope he chooses the maroon & orange :)
So I know I will be in the minority here, but I am going to say it anyways. I was all aboard the Fuente bandwagon to start, but I have to say it is looking more and more like a hire that we will regret. Hear me out. Look at the posts here, we are trying to flip Old Dominion recruits, and other 2 and 3 star guys. These may be players that would be gems for Memphis but not here. I think Fuente is over his head. You can say we got Evans, but he too was a guy set to go to Memphis, a team with all do respect, that is not on our level. The offensive recruits that he is after are sub par. And you can say that we have made a living on these recruits in the past, and coached them up, but wasn't the point to bring in a guy that would elevate our talent level. Fuente is getting a ton of credit for TCU's offense, but to be honest while he was there they were not the high flying offense they are now. Also his reputation is hanging on Paxton Lynch, one QB, and now he is some sort of QB whisperer.
I am very disappointed with the recruiting so far. We are setting up for mediocrity, but people are celebrating 2 and 3 star guys. I am talking about the guys Fuente is recruiting not those that were already committed.
Fuente hasn't been here but a month and a half, man. Come on. It's unfair to judge him on that. He just got here in Blacksburg. Give the man some time.
I say we give him a full recruiting cycle before we start making judgements.
Please tell us who he should be going after?
4 star and 5 star recruits I would assume. ATXHokie is not the recruiting coordinator, but I would assume this is what he meant.
That team that isn't on our level (Memphis) would have wiped the floor with us had we played this year. Give the guy more than two months to judge his recruiting. Considering the limited time he has had, I think he's done a great job hanging on to the bulk of our guys and adding guys at critical positions of need. Most of the top 4- and 5-star guys have had established relationships with schools for a while now. Give the man a full recruiting cycle at least. It's hard to not be impressed with his track record of offensive production at TCU and completely turning around a moribund Memphis program.
VTJ12 gets a leg for moribund..sheesh!!
Holy cow, where did this come from?
While I share some of your concerns, I won't be using what happens this year in recruiting to judge anything. Literally, this time of year, you have to pursue anyone who will talk to you. And the guys who will talk to Fuente are the players that his staff has been recruiting previously.
Fuente has not recruited 4 and 5 star players regularly before, nor has his staff (this is my biggest concern, we should have added one or two recruit-first coaches). That is concerning. But what counters that is his scouting and player development background. He knows what he wants, he identifies it and brings the best out of those kids. That will pay off handsomely.
Starting next recruiting season, look for VT to continue to target a similar 3 and 4 star kid that we have targeted before, some 5 stars. I don't expect us to become Clemson overnight.
But what happens this January and February won't tell us anything about Fuente or his staff.
/S......right?
The old and rarely used Beamerism, "out of whack", comes to mind.
Passing any judgment, or attempting to project anything, about recruiting or on-field performance before year 3 is ridiculous.
Fuente is in a new league, for sure. But if he can succeed on the field with the players we have, while plugging a few holes here at the end of the recruiting cycle, his remaining task is to establish relationships in the region (which, if you follow relevant Twitter feeds, you see his is doing - a lot) and the pipelines will build. We just had the first huge staff overhaul in the better part of 3 decades; improved recruiting will take time. Winning will cure a lot of it. VT has a strong brand, but its recent success (or lack thereof) is what's weighing us down. Win a few Coastal crowns and the higher ranked kids will start to take notice again.
Bull hockey he should have had every 6 and 7 star player in the East Coast in for a visit and got half of them to commit on the spot. I mean he hasn't won a single game since he has been here or even signed one 8 star high school recruit yet!! What is he being paid for!
That is how he is being touted. An amazing coach, that can transform an offense. How do we do that with guys that should be on the FCS level. At least I've spoken my mind rather than following the sheep and celebrating these 2.5 star recruits.
Bah Bah. Fuente will lead the sheep to slaughter.
You spoke your mind, but your
mind is not goodopinions are poorly constructed and demonstrate an incomplete knowledge of the current recruiting landscape.HE WAS THE NUMBER ONE JUCO QUARTERBACK ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!?
Well we all feel better now that you have spoke your mindless crap....LOL
Watch some film. You talk about "following the sheep", that's all your doing by simply relying on "stars" to make your judgment. He knows what he's doing, you are clueless.
Rivals 4* Rick Wells, Keith Simms, Marlon Character, Tomon Fox are all either on campus, visiting this weekend, or have VT as one of two finalists. There are still some legit talent to be acquired in this class
Semantics, but it won't take until Year 3 to know if this is going well or not.
Majority of 2017 offer news we see is for 4 star recruits (especially at running back). You're not going to get a foot in the door with a top recruit in January, they're all locked up.
Fuente had given up on recruiting Evans to Memphis because he had gotten too big for the school once he got the VT job Fuente called him back up. FWIW two of the three 2* guys(Williams and Silas) we offered had their rankings boosted considerably to high 3* and mid 3* guys, shows he is a good evaluater of talent. KVon Wallace a low 3* guy offered a few days ago recently picked up offers from MSU/OSU/Clemson so Fuente must have been on to something there as well. Otherwise you are nuts, you need to give him until at least 2018 before you can make a fair evaluation of is recruiting, so far he seems to be an excellent judge of talent
So we wait until he completely runs the VT Football train into the brick wall, then we can say ok maybe we made a mistake. The writing is on the all. Choo Choo all about the Fuente death train.
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
These dudes are on here just actively trying to be pessimists. Which is fine and dandy if that's what they want to do. However, I don't see a reason to not at least be somewhat optimistic about our future. Looks to me like we have a couple of contrarians who are proud to be just that. Which, like I said, is whatever and good for them.
Fuente death train?
You should read more and post less.
Typical sheep, an idea comes along that isn't the mainstream and you reject it. Enjoy that brick wall, Fuente is heading straight for it.
Follow Fuente, if you dare.
http://imgur.com/gallery/AY8F2
Expressing an unpopular, but logically formulated opinion is one thing. If you've come here to just insult people, I'll gladly show you the door.
But then, you replied to your own post, thereby calling yourself a "typical sheep," so...
You are responding to ATXhokie for calling people sheep, but not to cds7c for calling his mind "not good". Seems a little biased.
Pushback from an established, knowledgeable community member is different from someone who shows up, starts a rant, and then goes off the rails. His logic isn't good (because there isn't any), therefore I agree with what cds7c said. And, I mean, you even mocked the guy above, too.
I wasn't mocking ATXhokie, I was actually showing support for his sheep premise. Saying someone does not have a "good mind" is different than saying an argument lacks logic. One is an attack on the person, and the other is an attack on the argument. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Also, Fuente is not yet an established, knowledgeable community member as far as VT football goes. He seems to have just shown up, and ATXhokie thinks he is driving the train off the rails. So, should we just dismiss Fuente too, as suggested by your own argument above?
P.S. Ba
Not at all apparent, but OK.
Fair enough, but I'm making an interpretation based on what I know about the guy. If he meant to completely attack ATX's character, then that's poor form, but so far the line of thought in this little sub-thread lacks any logic whatsoever and looks like a totally unproductive rant, which is discouraged here.
If it makes everyone feel better: tsk tsk, reign in the snark.
Agree completely, but throwing bombs, escalating to "death train," etc. is just absurd.
No, because Fuente has made logical statements about his vision for the program, taken logical action in reaching out to our pipeline schools and more, done the job of keeping most of our important recruits on board, and has all-in-all led most people to believe that he's qualified for the job.
Sorry, but isn't the Established, Knowledgeable Community Member in question "cds7c" anyway? Not Fuente.
WAIT IS CDS7C JUST JUSTIN FUENTE IN DISGUISE!!!?!????!?
This type of analysis hurts my head. Me want football!
Well thought out, well written response to slow the spiral. Let's see if it helps.
Check the Julian bailey thread as well as a few others. It's not his fault the storm of the century ruined a recruiting weekend if I remember correctly we had a few big name recruits coming up here that had to cancel
Furthermore I believe he has extended offers to a lot of high level recruits for next year and the following recruiting classes. What more do you want from the guy?
Harbaugh did the same thing last year is he a bad recruiter? A tad insane? Yes but a damn good recruiter
And with a large number of them the staff was able to reschedule visits including into mid week visits. So while the storm did hurt (eg Pridgeon) it wasn't the disaster I was expecting.
DEATH TRAIN!
They had better cover "Highway to Hell." OH NO IS AC/DC GOING TO REPLACE SANDMAN???
No it's that two-bit coach imposter CJF, so he's only interested in Winger covers.
Really? He has been here a month and half. Way to early for any negative waves, Moriarty.
4 months and 4 days of not commenting just went up in smoke in less than half an hour, good job.
Because I don't celebrate Fuente and all the "amazing" things he is doing, and post about it here makes me far less knowledgeable and illegitimate, got it.
No it's because you have a very real lack of branding of your message. As soon as you start throwing out "death train" and Sheep you lost your message and became noise.
You are a sheep, celebrating us trying to flip an Old Dominion recruit.
When your only response is to insult people over and over again, we're done here.
Also in regards to your twitter post, the Beamer era was a failure after 3. Why should we afford Fuente so much good will. This is the state of college football, it is what made the Beamer era end, but you don't want Fuente to be judged by the same lens. Baaaaa
And Frank was evaluated by his superiors and allowed to continue if he improved the state of the program by making some hard choices. He did. So he was evaluated, given a path forward, and executed on that plan. Fuente should be similarly evaluated, and will be. But speculating about anything related to Fuente and staff is really absurd at this point when the guy hasn't even fielded a team at VT.
Can't we just ban this person already? I have no problem with disagreeing but this fool is actively starting shit and being demeaning. Do we really have time to deal with this crap?
I took care of him hours ago. I replied when there still might have been a discussion worth having.
(Sigh)
Some people man... Take pride in the fact you gave him/her a chance most people wouldn't have been willing to
At worst he was calling people sheep and the whole thing was contained to a single thread. I really don't think that deserves a ban, but hey, that's just me.
If he was thread hopping and actually attacking people rather than just calling them sheep then sure, drop the ban hammer.
Technicality: the ban hammer is when Joe eliminates someone's account regardless of their TL count. That is final and happens at Joe's discretion and only Joe's discretion. There is no community input.
This was a case of being down voted below the threshold where he could make any more comments. Obviously, the mod's -10 votes helped that along, but looking at his string of comments, I'm pretty sure he would have been below -25 anyway. That's community policing. If people in the community (or his other screen names) disagree, then upvote the comments to balance out the down votes and he's reinstated.
But the US didn't beat the Russians in 1980 on the ice in Lake Placid with a bunch of NHL All Stars. But they were the guys that Herb Brooks wanted.
To be fair, that accomplishment was deemed miraculous. I'd prefer that a VT NC not be branded the same (though I'd take it nonetheless). JF hasn't pulled rabbits out of hats, but I have confidence that he'll build the program such that no rabbits or hats are needed.
Very true - but if we win the National Championship next year over Alabama, we may very well have our own Miracle movie made after us.
We can dream right? It's Friday, dreams are ok.
But the National Championship game is played on a Monday night. The day of the week where dreams are crushed.
Speaking of - why couldn't they play the National Championship on a Saturday? I mean, Saturday has always been THE day of the week for College Football. I hate that it's on a Monday night.
I know the argument is going to be "because NFL Wild Card Games are on Saturday and Sunday" but it is easily scheduled around. Put an NFL game at 1:00p Saturday, 4:30p Saturday, and then the National Championship at 8:00 primetime. Invent the Fuente, er, I mean, Future. Problem solved.
Same with the Super Bowl. Play it on a Saturday night. We all gotta work on Monday.
I always wondered why they didn't do it on Saturday at 5 or 6 EST - and then somebody explained to me that the host cities would hedge on that. They love that extra weekend day of spending and extra hotel night.
The NFL's gonna give up s Saturday night slot? Good luck with that...but I'm sure they would have no problem with letting college FB have the highly desired Saturday 10am PST slot.
This illustrates yet another reason why an 8 team playoff would be a bad idea (not counting if the conf champ games essentially become the first round).
Everyone is entitled to an opinion... Even stupid ones such as this
It's not necessarily a stupid opinion, just an unpopular one, and one of those where a guy with multiple accounts could come back later and say "see, I told you so." In my opinion, it's a bit premature to start railing against a coach who has yet to step on the field and has come into a situation that is not an easy one for a plethora of reasons which has been explored ad nausea here and elsewhere. Short of a Michael Vick, we have boundaries (I could have said limitations) and I'm hoping we can climb over the wall the last coach built for us and push it forward. What some would call 'sheep' talk, I think is natural enthusiasm. It's impossible to say at this point if we have a McClellan, a Meade, or a Grant.
Leg from a history buff for the reference to the generals. At least you stayed away from Pickett...
Pickett? I'm thinking there are more similarities with Grant as Fuente also has had success in Kentucky, Tennessee (and Ole Miss) and has now been brought East. There's a long, winding slugfest ahead. All I can do is support my team whatever happens in the future.
I don't think Meade was so bad, but Grant has been the victim of a concerted effort to stain his reputation both as a general and a president. Glad to see he can still be held up as a positive example. Dude just got shit done. Respect for that.
Also, as my former boss who gives battlefield tours pointed out, George Thomas was one of the best generals the Union had, but from a historical perspective, he's been overlooked both because his career derailed due to conflicts with his superiors and the fact that he fought in the less glamorous theaters of the war.
What the hell is this thread about again?
Meade wasn't terrible but did lack the killer instinct. He could very easily have finished off, or at least severely crippled, the Army of Northern Virginia after Gettysburg. Instead he was too slow in his pursuit (admittedly he was hindered by some torrential downpours) and let a marvelous opportunity slip through his grasp.
FWIW though, I'd probably rather have Sheridan. His Valley Campaign of 1864 was brilliant and his ability to pull a victory out of the jaws of defeat at Cedar Creek was absolutely remarkable.
Ummmm....but like you said, what thread am I on right now?
Thomas also had the misfortune of being a Southern Democrat which made him unpopular and mistrusted, in fact he was quite conflicted when secession came to Virginia and seems to have at least flirted with the notion of following the Old Dominion. Almost his entire family disowned him for the rest of his life, I think one nephew eventually contacted him but the war cost him more than most
What happened to William Tecumseh Sherman?
You want a general, you want Sherman.
Great points, the Union Army leadership at the end of the war was like an all star squad. I quote Sherman on a regular basis when someone at work tries to voluntold me into something. "If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve."
+1. Good quote. I'm going to have to remember that one. :)
what are your sources?

So you're saying that TCU's offense now (18) is better than any offense that Fuente fielded as OC at TCU (11,13)?
Shockwave, go home, you're drunk.
Are you just not excited for Fuente because you haven't seen enough yet or do you just not like Fuente because you wanted a different coach? I get the feeling you were hoping for someone like Rich Rod who might bring more flash to the program.
Like clock work! Makes me laugh every time.
Only took 4 minutes, well done.
Google alert on this site, I believe. It works for me with Kate Upton.
Yea that's it, it's not because I'm on TKP way too much.
I was thinking the same thing VTnyc. I don't know what 4 or 5* recruits ATX was expecting Fuente to sign this season. The only ones that were listing us were state recruits and they really didn't want Tech after this season.
PSA: Don't google Death Train. I thought I would get cool illustrations of scary looking trains. No, I got train deaths. Yeesh!
*reads warning*
*googles Death Train*
It made me think of this:
PERFECT

Its idiotic to judge Fuente and Co based on this recruiting class. Almost all of our commits were carried over from Beamer and Co. There just isn't time for a head coach to take over in January and expect him to go out and recruit 4 and 5 stars by the next month... It takes time
Imagine the wave of shock that went over me when I saw so many comments on this thread in a matter of hours. I believe we had received some good news, but instead it was just deception- a poster conning me into thinking we got a commitment.
I see what you did there
Let this be a lesson to all members. If you plan on having a few drinks and going on a bender, don't post after, go scream at the stars instead.
and starscream...can't forget that one
Heh. But I don't think HBH8 was around when Bender went down, was he?
Legs n' legs n' legs n' legs n' lame joke incorporating Optimus Prime n' legs n' legs...
I smell decepticon poontang
At this point when I see a random thread get a ton of comments really, really quickly I immediately temper my excitement and am automatically suspicious...
I call it the Shockwave Effect.
Edit: I see someone beat me out on the Shockwave pun. I should have guessed that I wouldn't be the first to have that idea.
Really, y'all. I can't believe this blog even exists. Someone needs to get life.
Yall can see yourself out then.
I'm not sure I follow you maybe expand on that. You have been a member for a long time why don't you like this board?
Umm either you need to pull out that atomic wedgie shoved up your ass and explain yourself or gives us a /s
Going to give primes the benefit of the doubt and assume he was talking about this thread in general.
meh. do you believe in coincidences?
@ ATXhokie:
While I kinda understand some of your concerns, I think judging him on this recruiting class is unfair.
To reiterate, the man has only been here since the season ended. What a couple of weeks? Then the recruiting dead period occurred. He has only officially taken over the program since January 4. It is now January 28. Let's take a wait and see approach for this class and next season.
Look, while I'm glad VT hired an offensive minded coach, I too have concerns about the recruiting and some of his position coaches. But we need to give the man time. I'm sorry, but we are not Alabama, FSU, nor Clemson. We are currently the 5th place team in one of the weakest P5 divisions in the weakest P5 conference. So unless you have some magic formula, or billions of $$$, or a brilliant plan to get either Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Art Briles, Jim Harbaugh (I just threw up in my mouth) or Tom Herman to become the next HC at VT; this is the best coach VT can currently land. And respectfully, I think VT did a pretty good job landing Coach Fuente considering our present condition. I'm mildly optimistic and hopeful for the best with Coach Fuente and his staff. It beats wallowing in despair. I know, I'm from South Korea, I can wallow in despair with the best of them. ;-)
Look at Buzz Williams and VT basketball. He was also hired by AD Babcock and Buzz already has the VT program going in the right direction. The job isn't done, but boy are we competitive and playing with maximum effort. There are green shoots poking through the muck and meyer. Don't give up.
Vt guitar man. Where's the ban hammer?
This might not be a popular opinion either, but certain points of view offer food for thought and heated discussion. Enjoy the ride and any laughs you can get out of it. We're tougher than that around here. If it becomes continually disruptive, the admins will know what to do.
And to recap:
1. I banned him yesterday, hours before either of the inquiries here about his status.
2. I did not ban him for his opinion or downvote any of his opinions, nor should anyone else. I downvoted two of his posts that insulted other people; at that point he had clearly demonstrated he was not interested in logical discussion, rather to drop bombs and then fan the flames when people disagreed. Those two -10's put him over the top (or out the bottom, however you like to look at it) to a ban based on the collective effects of others' downvotes.
3. Logical discourse, however intense or opinionated, is always fine here. If your reply to anyone who disagrees with you is to call names and be a jerk, take it elsewhere. There is plenty to discuss about our football program, and if you would like to contend a particular point, please do so and be respectful while doing it. If you present something without any logic whatsoever, and people call you out on a lack of logic, don't dig in and act like a jerk.
Seriously, keep up the good work.
I must admit this guy's dedication to trolling TKP is kind of amazing. He consciously opened several accounts ages ago and has just been letting them sit dormant until he feels like messing with us. We have no idea how many more accounts this guy has but his long-term troll game is strong. I can only imagine what motivates him. He's also trying out different strategies which is kind of amusing.
After the shi*shows that were starscream and shockwave he's gone to a multi-faceted attack using ATXhokie as the sacrificial 'shockwave' personality and supplementing it with multiple other trolling accounts simultaneously.
play.hokies is the less bullish and seemingly more level headed account which subtly sympathizes with ATXhokie. The long-con account, if you will. Playing to the "sheeple" with comments like
but also trying to take some of the heat off of the more obvious troll with statements like
TheTwoPercent - yet another shockwave personality..my best guess is the strategy here was "strength in numbers"
primes. the obvious throw-away account that has to be scrapped from his stock since it became obvious he was using transformer-centric user names for trolling.

I don't know, buddy. I've been using forums since usenet days in the early to mid-90's. I do sometimes sympathise a bit with weird points of views and don't let attacks, subtle or not, bother me. I suggest you work on your sleuthing skills or not be lazy and go back and read some of my posts over time and conclude something other than the long-con account. If you think I'm working with a troll, so be it. If you come to another conclusion, you can decide what you want to do then. That said, I apologise to the mods (who by the way have my actual name and could check my history at Virginia Tech, academic and athletic if they want) and anyone else for taking this thread any further from the original intent of the OP.
unlike starscream/shockwave/ATXhokie/primes/TheTwoPercent etc. I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong. I guess we'll see what happens.
Man, it's the internet, a glorious, bountiful free-for-all, so we won't worry about right and wrong. And because it is what it is, I can look at some highlights of a player like Tyree and conclude that despite his low number of stars he has what it takes to develop into a player who can contribute to our team. I'm glad our coaches are on to him.
I think you're reading way too far into this...
I found ATXhokie,
via GIPHY
has a play to win the match...opponent counters the last piece of the puzzle...
So does anyone know if Tyree is good? Or where he'd project for us?
Who's Tyree? I thought this thread was about sheep.
Speaking of, I could totally go for some lamb chops right now... saw this pretty sweet recipe involving rosemary and lemon... sorry, where were we?
We were talking about decepticons.
Speaking of - my Shockwave Flash plugin on Google Chrome literally just crashed loading this page.
Coincidence? I think not.
Mine too actually.
So to get off topic from Decepticons, sheep, and other things such as pleasantly plump QBs -
How is Sam Rogers going to respond when he finds out that there can in fact be a D in Ro(d)gers?
Not only Sam...but what about Bucky?
I can't remember the player, but I remember one of the ESPN-Ocho announcers saying over and over what a mismatch that "Bucky Rodgers" kid is...
LOL! My mans troll game was strong. WE are much better than letting him get us all riled up. He clearly isn't a VT fan and just enjoyed getting a rise out of the community. People like this scare me a little bit. As Alfred says "some people just like to watch the world burn."
With that being said this kid looks like a hell of a football player. I am hoping he gets a shot on a big stage like Lane stadium. One brick at a time is how you build it. The foundation is being laid ladies and gentlemen.
I don't think she was trolling I think she genuinely feels that way. She was a member for quite some time.
Starscream has stated in Twitter in the past that there would be more to come due to a stock of usernames created years ago.
So does anyone know who that person is? Is there a reason for their trolling?
They went to WVU?
It's really not the conspiracy everyone thinks it is... Two dudes, both of which attended undergrad and post-grad at VT, saw how riled up we (their friends) got when we had a similar discussion previously. Knowing how thin skinned a good chunk of the people are here, one decided to have a similar "discussion", albeit a bit more adamantly. The other saw him doing this and came to his defense. Neither of them have alts or have done anything similar before.
Both were banned, which frankly is a bit ridiculous seeing as it was contained to a single thread and at worst people were being called sheep, but it really isn't that big of a deal to either. Neither of them really commented much anyways. They both use TKP along with other sites for VT news and that's about it.
If I'm being honest, I did find it a bit funny and thought it was interesting seeing how people reacted considering that type of thing doesn't happen very often around here.
Also, I have no idea who Primes is, so I guess he/she got caught in the crossfire after one comment.
The same thing is going to happen over and over again. He signs in with a new username, says stupid stuff, gets down voted into oblivion and then he's gone for awhile and we carry on. It's almost fun just waiting to see when he's going to show up again and what asshattery he's going to come up with.
I don't understand the point if the end result will always be the same. It's not like he can take over anything or change anything. And by now all of us frequent visitors basically know what to expect when somebody starts talking out their brown eye.
the only thing I will say to caution everyone is to not get too quick on the trigger. I'd hate to see people who aren't part of this guy's mental issues taken out because we're developing a hive mindset on here that we quickly eliminate anyone who states an opinion that goes against the grain.
Her first post actually had a few supporters and upvotes, it was how she tried to defend her ideas against questions.
Yes, I joined another site and made a comment and was accused of being a LOL troll. I said WTH?
I think you bring up a good point with your concern but I'm pretty confident that a majority of us are level headed enough to prevent unwarranted community bans. He came on here with an unpopular opinion which in and of itself is fine. There are plenty of folks here who disagree on all kinds of different topics (cake vs pie, for instance). There is nothing wrong with having an opinion that 'goes against the grain' so long as you defend your opinion in a respectful and meaningful way. When posters start making personal attacks and posting nonsense that is obviously intended to offend people here, however, I don't see any problem with swift action to clean that stuff up.
Agreed... But I am still a little bothered that primes was hammered after one comment. I'm still not 100% sure that user was part of the whole thing, so to see that comment, his/her only one in this thread to be at -20... That doesn't sit well with me.
Don't have a problem with the others. We gave ATXhokie and TheTwoPercent enough rope to hang themselves and they prepared a pretty sturdy noose to use. I just thought the downvoting might have gotten carried away a bit when it hit a couple others, like primes and play.hokies.
I thought there seemed to be a "Downvote effect" for that one. I feel people are more encouraged to downvote after they already see -1 there.
good point on Primes. I'll admit that I downvoted the comment. For starters, the comment itself added nothing of value and seemed to fit right into the inflammatory style consistent with the other decepticon accounts which have been banned (starscream, shockwave) and based on the context I had I put 2 and 2 together and deemed that a downvote was necessary. The beautiful thing about votes is that they can be reset. IF primes had come out and defended his statement and made a case for not being somehow related to the decepticon series of accounts I would give consideration to resetting my downvote.
regarding play.hokies. I openly accused that account of being related to ATXhokies and TheTwoPercent. That being said, I want to make it clear that I did not actually downvote any of his particular comments. Nothing he said was, to my knowledge, outside of the community guidelines and therefore not worthy of a downvote. I have no intention of serial downvoting a single commentor if they haven't proven to be an obvious troll. play.hokies may very well be unrelated to ATXhokie but I just found his defense of ATXhokie to be strangely suspicious. I apologize to him for lumping him with the troll.

Since I for no reason but to have understood that a coin does indeed have two sides have been involved and accused of being a troll I would like to briefly say that despite your suspicions, why not just give it a rest? Sometime we might meet and have a beer and I'll tell you what it was like to be a Tech student about the time you were born. I'll also tell you some Jimmy Sharp, Bruce Arians, Rick Razzano stories. As well, I'll relate the elation of seeing Don Strock throw for over 500 yards as a young high school kid. If you still think you're on the right track about me, go back to the loss against UNC (might have been Pitt) and see some things I said. Boy, was I pissed and posted some things that in reflection made me think my TKP time was limited in minutes at most. I regret saying those types of things, not that I felt something that was an outlier opinion might not be unreasonable (even if I personally didn't feel that way). I'm not here to play to the gallery, but as you have pointed out civility is a nice thing to have in an interactive forum.
I can't tell if you're accepting my apology or not. At any rate, I think we're all tired of talking about trolls..man I hate the off-season.
It's all good. Christmas is coming on Wednesday. We're all excited to see what we get. And not that I think he will be a game changer for our Hokies, but I hope we get Tyree, and get him into his best position, whatever that might be.
That blows my mind.
Meta suggestion: Let VTGuitarman delete comments permanently.
I get that we want to get to the bottom of the whole "trolling" thing - can we do it on its own thread?
Seeing 6 new comments...then 5 more new comments...and getting here to find that we're STIIIIIIILL talking about these (borderline) trolls is boring. And OT. And EXACTLY what trolls want, if you're concerned about that.
Back to football, folks? Please? We should be much more concerned with the commitment status of Tyree Rodgers.
Two. More. Days...
I saw some CBs headed our way!
:D
10-4, good buddy!
