Every time Justin Fuente's dad answers the phone when Justin calls home back in Tulsa, Okla., the first question never has anything to do with how the new job in Blacksburg is going. There are more pressing matters to address.
Jim Fuente expects an update on his son's golf swing. Actually, the same inquiry applies if any male member of Justin's family picks up the phone.
Great background piece about Coach Fuente and his background and family.

Interesting tidbit here:
This is the kind of quote that makes me wish I could have been a fly on the wall during the process:
Whit: So whadda you say Justin, do you want the job?
Fuente: Being head coach at VT, playing at Bristol and South Bend are cool and all that, but I want Bud!
Whit: OK.......let me call you back in a few.
Whit: Hey, Coach Foster....um.....you know I love ya' right?
Bud: Hold on, Whit. (Bud puts down the 150lb dumbell he was curling, and the turkey leg.) What's up?
Whit: Well. We think we got our guy to replace Beamer.....and it's not you. But I've hit a snag. He won't come unless you stay as DC.........Bud?......are you still there?.........
I thought it wasn't 2 separate things, I thought he was curling a 150lb turkey leg.
Don't know if anyone other than Sam Rogers would have gotten close enough to know for sure.
I bet Beamer would be happy to teach him a thing or two. As long as he didn't cheat.
