Well as expected, VT steamrolled UVA (what else is new). In front of a mostly hokie crowd in UVA's home gym, VT took 8 of ten matches. Highlight of the match goes to Sal Mastriani, with a pin of TJ miller.

38-0 woulda been sweeter, bro!
Good win!
Seemed like they showed well, hopefully this continues at Pitt.

This team is very solid throughout the lineup and just smashed the #18 team in the country. That being said excluding people like Nolf, Imar, and Ian Miller, Andrew Atkisson just layed out a blueprint for stopping Brascetta. We'll find out just where we stand individually after the NC State dual with the Jack/Chishko and Roshkopf/McFadden matches clearing those pictures. But with that said the ACC championship coming up in March we sit very well with 4 projected champions in Dance, Brascetta, Epperly and Zavatsky, also a second placer in Ty Walz. Chishko, Mcfadden, Mastriani, and Haught should all place relatively high making it very hard for any team to stop our Hokies in Charlottesville.
I think you can add Gus in that discussion too...I think he has a great chance at 2nd, assuming he keeps improving his conditioning.
Oh, and thanks for having the only relevant comment so far.
I agree that Gus has a strong chance to place second but I'm a little hesitant to put faith in his knee right now. God forbid anything actually happen but it only takes one crazy scramble to put an unusual amount of pressure there.
Forys is also red hot at Pitt, Will learn more next weekend...
That should be a telling match on Friday....Forys has been winning a lot, but almost all of his opponents were not the best. He lost his only match to a top-40 guy, and he seemed to struggle with Morris last weekend who appears to be just outside the top 40.
They've also beaten the #13 & the #15 teams this year (Iowa St & UNC) while losing very close matches to # 2 Penn St & #18 Iowa St in a second go-around.
Don't ask me why but I think Walz is going to do it this year. This is F'ing great.
Man that would be awesome. But it will be a tall task with Nick Gwiazdowski who is the two time National Champ and Kyle Snyder the 197 World Champion in his weight class.
Definitely a tall task, but anything can happen at the NCAAs.
You're right. I'll be watching for sure.
We should have an exciting team if everyone is healthy. I'd like to see us finish top 6. What's our highest team finish, 8th?
I'm honestly not sure. Would like to know though. We could be able to top it whatever it is this year though.
The highest finish in program history was indeed 8th in 2014, however; the most team points we've ever scored at NCAA's was last year.
Any day we beat the boohoos is a good day
Hoo got spanked?
Half-assed effort from Hulk Hogan
You think? I see two guys wasting a ton of perfectly good beer while Hogan is trying to get every last drop.
Don't worry. It's not perfectly good beer, just Budweiser
Yeesh good call. And I claim to be a beer snob...
Nice to see the practice time is paying off.
I'm not sure what this has to do with wrestling, but I like it.
I was at a wedding for the last half of the match. Checking my phone at the end to see the final score was awesome. Gotta love backhanding the Hoos.
Let's not forget the destruction of WVU on Friday night. Combined score of the two meets this weekend was 63-10 over WVU and UVa. That's a hell of a weekend for the good guys.
We bad!!
Hell yeah
This is awesome, so proud of coach putting together a hell of a squad.
Somebody posted a kind of basic scoring guide recently and I want to say thanks to that poster and others providing info. I've had several friends wrestle for VT, UVA, and UNC the past few years so it's made me want to get into it more and I'm trying to keep up!
Honestly surprised by how entertaining it is. I've been missing out. Hope I get to catch some more of the Hokies!!
Wikipedia has a nice little summary for anyone interested.

The basics aren't too difficult after you read that and watch a few matches. It's quite addicting and cheering on a good Hokie team makes it that much better.
