Anyway, Beamer spoke for about 15 minutes and did a brief Q&A - the question that stood out to my dad the most was when he was asked, "Who was the best player he ever coached?"
The answers might be pretty obvious, but thought it was still worth sharing. Vick was his immediate answer, saying he was super gifted and special. Followed that up by saying Tyrod was the next best player he ever coached.
I was fortunate enough to be in Blacksburg for all four years of Tyrod's career. The thing that is readily apparent from those teams to the more recent ones is that a guy like Tyrod masks a lot of weaknesses. There's currently a lot of narratives why things have taken a nosedive... well, considering the two best players Beamer says he has coached ended up as NFL starters is extremely telling.
