This message is for the folks in NOVA and DC, or those who like taking trips. The site is going to sponsor a kickoff happy hour at Wilson Tavern. It'll be an opportunity to meet up, eat & drink, and talk some ball before the season starts. I have a venue lined up, and it'll be announced as soon as it is finalized. The date is firm: Wednesday, August 28th. If you're interested in coming, RSVP here: https://www.facebook.com/events/186016788243100/.
I hope most of you in the area can make it out!

In regards to the form, what if we have friends that aren't key play members that would like to come? Is sign up necessary for everybody?
Everyone is welcome to attend, just fill out the form.
OBX :(
wait... OBX! :)
That's much better. OBX is my happy place. Haven't been in 3 yrs but I will be there Sept 14th!!!!
:)
NO WAY! My friends are going to Avon, I think Sept 14-21. I'll be a few weeks into the fall semester at that point, but still might make it down for a long weekend.
I'll be in the Frisco/Buxton area down near the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. I am SOOO excited!!!
YOU MUST GO!!
Horse and AMB, this ones for you:
Note: Joe it would be awesome if we could tag people in posts. I know you don't have anything else to do like a job, social life, etc., so I thought I'd make the suggestion.
That's very funny, vtfly. LOL
We surf the lighthouse whenever we're down there. Second jetty FTW (for the waves). If I go, I'll be there. If not, at least one other Hokie will be there.
Yeah I don't surf but I do enjoy watching people surf. I'm more of a beach bum.
I don't get to go on vacations often so I enjoy doing close to nothing, eating lots of seafood, drinking lots of beer, and just enjoying the scenery. I need to pick up a big VT flag to fly while
we are there. While we were looking for a house to rent we found one that was perfect until
we saw the LOLUVA flag hanging in the living room. We didn't rent it just for that reason...true story.
I went on a cruise a few years ago with 2 stops in Mexico. I told the people I was with that they could go do any excursions they wanted, but the only thing I was going to do was sit on the beach and drink beer. And I did, and it was fabulous.
Me too I'm happy I'm sad I'm a roller coaster of emotions. Someone please cause a scene for me.
Nice!!! Excited to put some names to faces other than 757Hokey
Most definitely! Plus, being new to NoVa it'll be fun to meet some fellow Hokies in the area.
Aww yeah. Can't wait!
You should probably bring the whatever is left of the #BEATBAMA shirts as well.
Thanks Joe!
Sigh, in school
That's not a bad thing...
YOU GOTTA CHERISH IT!
well done...
I will be happy to bring a white board and disposable markers to get all Merrill Hoge on the Alabama game.
Please tell me you're NOT going to wear a tie like that, much less show up with that "I just sat on a corncob" look on your face!
Quadrouple Windsor!!
You need a "maybe" option. :-)
I may make the trek from Hooville, but can't say for sure right now.
I'll have 6 Schlitzes

I was back in Blacksburg this weekend and found out $1 Schlitzes from the Cellar are no more. I almost cried
They have been gone for a couple years now. They were replaced with $1 Strohs, but that has since been replaced too I believe. It's not the same anymore without the Schlitz
I'm going to see if I can arrange a work reason to be up in NoVA on a Wednesday.
Joe, can't attend but hopefully you have more shirts made that you can bring and sell directly during the happy hour. Just a thought!
Mayhaps we need to have a Central VA Hokie Happy Hour?
Yes! I'd love to, I'll put up a post about it. DM me if ya want to help set it up.
I live in Culpeper, so I never know if I'm in Northern or Central VA. Maybe I should go to both just to make sure I have it covered.
The Northern Virginia/Central Virginia line (read: Insane/Sane line) is Prince William County and Fauquier County, you're safe.
Yup. I grew up in Prince William County. It was more Central VA when I was little, but by time I graduated HS it was Northern VA
haha true, but I spend more time during the week in the insane portion of the state than anywhere else
Just throwing it out there - would anyone be interested in doing some sort of #BEATBAMA viewing party in Arlington?
I will actually be in Charlotte at kickoff. Hopefully that means I will also be back in Charlotte for the ACCCG, if you dig my meaning.
DC Hokies usually has a viewing party at one of the local bars. Generally it's Bailey's in Ballston.
Yeah, I joined them at Bailey's for the 2011 ACCCG. Had a good time at the bar itself. But that was, ahem, not the finest performance I've seen out of the Hokies in my lifespan.
Oh man...I was there for that game as well. I was so confident going into that game that we wouldn't let Clemson beat us twice in one year. We were at one of the hightops along the outside of the middle room.
I felt the same way. Spent most of the second half with my head on the table out of shame. We were on the smoking side b/c one of my friends smoked but next time around I'll probably be in the middle room as well.
I'd like to join and right now my schedule is clear but there's a decent chance softball playoffs will interfere. I'll try to be there regardless.
I'm all set. I realized I have a case up in Fairfax I have to handle at some point so I went ahead and set it for the 29th to give me an excuse to come up and meet you guys.
Of course I move from NOVA just before something interesting happens there.
Anyone up for a NYC happy hour?
