Turkey Legs

I'm trying to get some turkey legs to take down to Atlanta for the Bama game. Anyone have any ideas on where to buy them or suggestions on how to cook them? I don't have a smoker so I was thinking of just grilling them unless someone has a better way.

I can tell you that this city is not short on good grocery stores (Publix) that carry turkey legs year-round and, even better, a multitude of butcher shops and farmers markets that will cut them fresh for you. Hence, there's no need to bring them down with you. Just run to a Publix and they'll have them on hand.

As for preparation, brine them first. 1 cup of salt to 1 gallon of water is the preferred ratio. Then cook low and slow. Also, I've had great success with doing turkey legs in a crock pot (of all places). Since you can cook them on low for a long time, it breaks down a lot of the tough tendons and cartilage you usually run into with big legs.

It is a well documented fact that when the players eat a turkey leg, they are infused with the magical power of the spirit of the fighting gobbler to crush their opponents and ground them into powder for consumption later.

I support Logan Thomas and make no apologies for it.

Mmm, Turkey Legs!

Where are you coming from & how many are you trying to have? I'm a chef in Charlotte & would be willing to get some from one of my food purveyors & smoke them for you so you would just have to heat them back up on a grill if Charlotte would be on your way.

VIEWING PARTY AT AWILKES'S HOUSE!

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I'm coming from Blacksburg on Friday so that would actually be awesome. God I love Hokie Nation. We have 14 in our tailgate, but if you can't get that many then just however many you can get.
