What does everyone make of this story? Even if the money is clean, this is just INCREDIBLY poor judgement and stupidity to post this. I think the Tide are dirty regardless..

Besides...here's what our favorite recruit posted earlier today.
Are you serious? Is he a freaking moron?!
. . . . Dammit
Crap.
Thanks. I did miss that.
Wow CJ...REALLY bad move. I am sitting here criticizing Alabama and CJ does the same thing.
I am really disappointed. People will say this is how he is recruiting for the Hokies. Beamer cannot be happy...
In other news, water is wet.
Hopefully he didn't take the pic since he hashtagged "brokeboy"
Anytime a kid posts a pic containing a wad of cash rival fanbases immediately claim it's because they're being paid. I hardly believe MOST of these guys are not that reckless if that were the case.
They're young and I'm sure $1000 in 100s looks like a lot of moolah in a picture, especially folded in half. That $$ however can be from anything.
Agreed. Other than some poor decision making, neither of these photos proves anything. I'm not sure why we are spending this much time on this
I don't know about you, but when I get $1,000 in cashmoney I want it in Washingtons. All the better to make it rain.
But if you go with $10s then:
Right...it could be totally innocent, but it just looks REALLY bad. There is simply no good reason to post something like that. Perception is everything...
No one in any profession or age should be posting personal pictures of money. It's just not something safe to do, you're just inviting people so see that you have $ on you so they can potentially rob you for it. Just like thumbing through your wallet in public if you're not making a purchase, it's a no no.
I'm not entirely sure about this, and it wouldn't apply in CJ's case, but I think when players get (back) on campus for the summer, they get a stipend/per diem. So around this time when players start to show wads of cash, it could be legit money from the school, but again, I'm not exactly sure how that works out.
there isnt any official stipend, thats one of the major points of contention between the bcs conferences and the ncaa currently
I'm pretty sure they get a per diem whenever on campus during breaks or travelling to away or neutral games, since they're not on any dining plans or anything yet. The current per diem rate in Blacksburg is $46, so, if they eat nothing but ramen (or other cheap stuff) from the start of fall camp (8/5) until the start of classes (8/26), they could theoretically get $966. I'm not sure exactly how the rules work regarding what days they get it, but there is some money to go around.
Per diem is also based upon the amount of meals they are given too. I'm certain that they get swipes for D2 or other places so that $46 goes down. Besides, as long as they are in Blacksburg, I believe money is distributed by deposit on their Hokie Passport. It's when they travel that they get it in cash for their meals.
Maybe it is a stock photo
True. Can't prove that it's his hand. tic
What stupidity, CJ... Or anyone who uploads a picture like that. I hope he deletes that soon, the team doesn't need that.
yea its deleted
Don't know where you're seeing that because I'm still seeing it up there.
Oh whoops, I looked at his instagram... nvm
Those look like small hands to be D-1 Athlete...
CJ probably just uses a hand model to pose for his twitter pic cash shots....
Either way, whether it is him or a stock photo, whether its his money or not him....it is really dumb to post this and I would hope that someone in the VT staff or administration would talk to him about this. It just makes him, the team, and the school look bad. As a Hokie, I am embarrassed of this pic being posted. I can see it turning off a recruit also. WHo wants to be associated with a pic like this?
I really hope they take action and advise him about this so it doesn't happen again. The entire world see's what is posted on twitter. Rival recruiters can use this against us...
Seriously, I don't see Brady Taylor and Billy Ray Mitchell posting pictures of cash on Twitter.
We have prided ourselves on being a upstanding program, of having higher standards....right or wrong, his money or not, this can't happen again and he needs to delete the pic.
Rant over...
PS, here is a pic of my crib...

YES!! Exactly! I am very embarrassed about this. He must be told to remove it. It is disgusting.
