Figured plenty of DC Hokies might be interested. As a completely casual basketball fan, I just found out today. If I can get the time off, I'll be there.
It seems like we might be headed for a first day bye (fingers crossed) and I can only find tickets for the opening day session on the ACC Tournament website. Any guidance on how to get tickets for the rest of the week?
edit: Never mind, I did some more looking around and got directed to the Hokie Tickets website. It looks like if Hokie fans want other session tickets, it's through our ticketing office

I called VT ticket office yesterday and they said that you have to be a season ticket holder or Hokie Club member to order one from VT office. They also only sell the whole booklet, which costs somewhere around $450 for lower bowl at verizon center and somewhere in $300-$350 range for upper bowl.
Edit: I also asked my connection at Verizon Center/Monumental Sports about tournament tickets and they said that they only sell Tuesday tickets. For rest of the days, you have to ask one of the ACC schools.

I was under the impression they moved the tournament to London:
Otherwise, why would they put a picture of London's St. Paul Cathedral. For comparison, the US Capitol on the left and St. Paul's Cathedral on the right: SB Nation ArticleWashington Post Article

I'm planning on going, I'm just not sure that I'll have anyone to go with. I was wondering if there was going to be some kind of TKP group or event for this.

While I think the Verizon Center and the surrounding location/attractions/amenities are an upgrade , it's definitely going to be strange not having the tourney in Greensboro. I went a few years ago with some friends after we got a good deal on ticket books, and we ended up having a great time even though Tech didn't make it past the first day. Had a nice hike to and from the coliseum having to walk over a mile to the nearest hotels (a motorcycle parked in the hallway in ours, plus continental breakfast with cereal but no milk), and definitely was hilarious watching a ton of the cars from the arena filter right into the strip club next door right after the late games. Was a blast talking to other ACC schools' fans and having numerous beer towers at Ham's. Nice easy drive through Roanoke down 220 to get there too. It will be interesting to see how things go in DC the next few years, but I think moving it to Brooklyn afterwards is a terrible move.

Office is nice and close tot he Silver line in Tysons.
Got another Hokie, a Cuse alum, a ND fan, and even a Gamecock that just likes shooty hoops, darn right we will be going to a few games one day or two as a "Company morale event"

I won't be there, but will be at the first two rounds of the ncaa tourney in Raleigh for a 15+ year tradition with my dad. I highly recommend it for any hoops fans. Tailgate all morning, go to two afternoon games, come out of the arena and tailgate for dinner then go watch the two night caps. Then we'll watch the winners play 2 days later. Hopefully well get a chance to watch tech there soon!

It is not confirmed where VT would end up playing. If we are seeded 8/9 then we will play in the noon session, and if we are seeded 7/10 then we will play in the evening session.
Currently, we are 10th in ACC standings. However, since Louisville has disqualified itself from postseason this year, we are at 9th seed in ACC tournament. ACC is as close in the middle as it is on the top, so depending on how the rest of the ACC does for remainder of two weeks, we can be seeded anywhere from 7th to 11th.

I'm trying to go but I'm not sure my best option of obtaining tickets. I live 6 blocks away from the Verizon Center, so I feel like I should be there to support Buzz and Co.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Living in Greensboro area, and having gone, the most common way to get tickets is to go arena with cash when first round is played, bring a need tickets sign, wear VT gear so people don't think your scalping, and buy the rest of a book of tickets off people coming out in losing team gear. Especially if there is an upset. You can also get single game tix from fans of teams that have a bye second round if you start asking early and often.

I just ordered wednesday night tickets off stub hub 2 tickets listed at $6 each with fees and delivery around $25. if you live in DC you have no reason not to go.

I'm looking into getting session 2 tickets myself. I currently might be planning on going by myself. Does anyone have an extra that they'd like to sell in the 100s section?

I'll be coming from Richmond and I've never been to the Verizon Center. Does anyone have any advice for parking? Or should I just go to Springfield and take the Metro?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I would NOT advise taking the metro. On weekdays the metro closes at midnight. It is very possible that the game could end right before midnight and you would have to cab/uber back to your car in Springfield.

For the future, Verizon Center has its own parking underneath. It can be a little pricey but it's nice and convenient if you don't want to stress about it.

Does anyone know how the Thursday ticket situation is going to go? I've heard that you can scalp from losing teams from the previous day, but will there be other opportunities to buy online? When I bought the ones for Wednesday they are shipping to me by Tuesday. I didn't know whether there are going to be e-tickets that can easily be exchanged online. TIA

Yeah, I wouldn't put as much stock into what has worked in the past in that regard. Greensboro is so much different than DC it could be a totally different experience. Greensboro was a relatively close destination for UNC, NCSU, Duke, Wake, VT, and Clemson fans. Meanwhile, DC is close (2.5 hours) to only loluva. DC is more of the week long vacation destination than Greensboro. I'd imagine fans will have to plan to stay the whole week instead of just traveling day by day as they could do in Greensboro.

It will probably depend on they are two game block, or individual game tickets. There are not many Miami fans to go so individual would have a lot available, but if they do blocks they will be hard to get because of Wahoo's. Just hope not too many of their fans stick around just to route against us if thats the case.

I already have tickets but because fuck dc metro, I decided to buy a parking pass for like $20 on stub hub as well. I think it is hosted by Parking Whiz, but I wanted to see if anybody else bought one from stub hub and knows how it works. It pretty just gave me an address to go to.

Just got some 2$ tickets for an upper corner. Anyone know how easy it is to sneak into lower sections at the VC? Strict ushers? I imagine they may be somewhat lax given the sparse crowds for split sessions and the fact that its not a caps playoff game.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
see I have never felt that. I always just walk past them even if I don't have lower level tickets looking like I am just returning to my seats from the bathroom or bringing back food/drinks.
I always just buy the cheapest ticket for caps game, hangout in the lower level before they tell you to go to your seats, then just check out what tickets have not been sold on the stub hub app and sit in those seats. Works all the time. Pay for the cheapest tickets and sit in lower level for all caps games
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
That's always my plan for football games in Lane Stadium but for some reason, I'm always occupied getting into the stadium early and can never seem to control my phone that close to kickoff.

I've heard they are extremely strict for Wizards games and wouldn't expect that to be any different. Not quite the same but i went to the CAA tournament a couple years ago in Baltimore and the usher insisted we sit in our exact row despite the arena being a ghost town.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
the ushers (for at least caps and wizards) aren't strict at all. But then again, for caps games anyone can go down to the lower level and watch watch warm ups and then they make an announcement to go to your seats once 15 minutes remain until game time. Just act like you know where your seats are or have food and/or drinks in your hands and they won't stop you. Just don't act sketch while passing them
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
VTMaroonOrange's 3 keys to not acting "sketch":
1) When you get close enough to the ushers that they try to make eye contact with you, immediately look down at your feet and start walking slightly faster.
2) When they ask you for your ticket, start speaking in broken English and point to a general area of where you want to sit. They will likely walk you right to that spot, give you a hug, and leave you to enjoy the game.
3) If steps 1 and 2 don't work for some reason just stop whatever you are doing and freeze. Eventually they should leave you alone and just forget you are there. You can watch the game from this spot.

Take one for the team. Have the rest of your group just behind you when you walk up the usher and stick your mobile phone in his/her face and set a pick for your friends walk past you both. Tell the usher your friend left his phone in your car, showing him your phone, and describe him or her, asking if they have seen them, you know they are in this section. Stay in their face looking down past them into the crowd, and wait until your friends have seats. Then say "there he is", and walk down to talk a stranger past where your friends are seated. Get up to walk back up slowly, and duck into where your friends are sitting when the usher looks away, and take off your jacket or hat. Never had that not work, but I also avoid any usher who looks like they might try to tackle someone.

Start times are so late... It's very difficult to get up there being a senior in high school. Wish I could go. I also don't understand the "sessions" they have on StubHub.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The Wednesday and Thursday are split into 2 sessions per day with 2 games being held in each session. So, tickets for Session 1 (Wednesday) and Session 3 (Thursday) are tickets to see the 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM game. Then the stadium empties and you need a different ticket for Session 2 (Wednesday) or Session 4 (Thursday) to see the 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM game.

Ask Louisville. I hear they might have some tickets available.
Anyone have tickets for sale? would love to go
you can still get them for mad cheap on stubhub.... I think still $6/person for cheapest ticket
I'll be there watching from press row.

Cause #GOACC
Absolutely - a google search for "us capitol image free" only returned this:
LOL that is awesome. stupid ACC
ACC graphic design department can't find a good picture of the Capitol? Screw it.
#FTS #bringyourAgame
They left UNC students in charge to do this as a class project.
I really expected more from UNC tutors...
And sponsored by New York Life?
Seriously, the New York Life, ACC tournament in Washington, DC shouldn't confuse anybody.
Honestly, this is how I found out the tournament is in DC this year. No such thing as bad publicity?
I bet the ACC hired that whiz photoshop guy that did the UVA images.
It was probably the guy who made the 2015 ACC football media guide.
I'm planning on going, I'm just not sure that I'll have anyone to go with. I was wondering if there was going to be some kind of TKP group or event for this.
ITs in DC? May have to attend.
Sigh...smh...we really ARE a football school!
I will most likely be "working from home" and attending the game. If only the ACC could hurry up and let me know which day I'll be working from home.
I'll be in the pep band!

What is the typical cost of such a day?
I've got a lead on some (really good) tickets for either Wednesday sessions? Anybody know if we play then which game (noon or 7p)?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_ACC_Men%27s_Basketball_Tournament
Depends on seed.
It is not confirmed where VT would end up playing. If we are seeded 8/9 then we will play in the noon session, and if we are seeded 7/10 then we will play in the evening session.

I am sorry guys for the wrong information. We are seeded #6! Silly me thinking that we wouldn't be able to get higher seed than 7th.
We will be playing Wednesday at 9 PM against winner of Boston College and Florida State. Who is going?
I'm trying to go but I'm not sure my best option of obtaining tickets. I live 6 blocks away from the Verizon Center, so I feel like I should be there to support Buzz and Co.
stub hub has them for cheap
stubhub and also scalping. its the late game of the session so around the start of the GT/clemson game prices should be pretty low
I'll definitely be there. I was hoping for the 7 pm game on Wednesday but its looking like we will be the 12 pm game unfortuantely
I've got Tuesday tickets available if there are any hard core bball fans out there - colvin.brad@gmail.com
Section 111, Row P, Seat 18 & 19, $40 each
I sit in section 111 row O for caps games, so if anybody wants these tickets, I can vouch that these are the best view/tickets you can get
I'll be there all week long, but where my seats are I might be asked to change the A/C filter Section 405. I'll be the one in the maroon and orange.
Living in Greensboro area, and having gone, the most common way to get tickets is to go arena with cash when first round is played, bring a need tickets sign, wear VT gear so people don't think your scalping, and buy the rest of a book of tickets off people coming out in losing team gear. It's a couple metro stops away for me. Or a quick jaunt in a Car2Go. May check Stub Hub for tix.
Stub hub for Wednesday, I got 3 tix for BOTH sessions for $156; Face is $240 ($40 x 3 x 2 sessions).
So, go stub hub for Wednesday and if we win, get your tix from losing team fans after games on Wed.
Where are your tickets?
I am eyeballing some lower bowl center court for 70 a seat per session.
I'll be there, section 100 row T!
I'm taking a staycation next week.
Ordered myself a ticket to the first game. If we make it further than that I'll scalp tickets at the venue.
I just ordered wednesday night tickets off stub hub 2 tickets listed at $6 each with fees and delivery around $25. if you live in DC you have no reason not to go.
We have been great at home this year. Let's make DC feel like home and win a few more.
Ugh that's so cheap. If only I didn't live in Lynchburg :(
Bought my tickets yesterday! Section 109
You should able to find plenty of event parking garages near the Verizon center for about 15-20 dollars.
I would NOT advise taking the metro. On weekdays the metro closes at midnight. It is very possible that the game could end right before midnight and you would have to cab/uber back to your car in Springfield.
I would NOT advise taking the metro. Period.
If you take the metro, it is not guaranteed that you would reach your destination. Why you ask?

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and got a parking pass for $10 on Park Whiz. Never used it before but it seems legit
For the future, Verizon Center has its own parking underneath. It can be a little pricey but it's nice and convenient if you don't want to stress about it.
Yea I bought one too, I assume you just go to the address on the pass you print out and show it to the parking lot attendant?
Does anyone know how the Thursday ticket situation is going to go? I've heard that you can scalp from losing teams from the previous day, but will there be other opportunities to buy online? Finding FSU, NCSU, WF, or BC fans to scalp their ticket after their team loses seems like a daunting task.

Good call. Much like a t-rex, an usher's vision is based on movement.
You think that, then they go all

Yeah....that's a Velociraptor...
Either this will get you great seats or tackled by the nearest Homeland Security Officer.
I lol'ed

In! Miss me some hokie hoops
I'm going. Will be there with some other Hokies in the A&D community.
