I'll post pictures from Twitter when I get off mobile. I got alert on fire site that Blacksburg Fire Department is on scene with fire in the roof at Blacksburg Middle School. Multiple agencies on scene still working to find fire and extinguish it. Water damage to classrooms.

They only got things back up and running after the Blacksburg Highschool roof collapse a couple of years ago. Can't seem to catch a break.
I got to finish high school with afternoon/evening classes at the middle school pictured here, thanks to that roof collapse. Never a dull moment, apparently

Sounds like lightning hit the roof and set it on fire.
As of right now (10:52) , they're still wroking on cutting the roof open to find the fires. BMS is closed for tomorrow as well.
Yeah, I have to think this is the result of a lightning strike. Storms blew through here yesterday evening.

Some app on wife's phone reported a major lightning strike 4 miles away from us last night around that time and that would definitely be in the proximity of BMS.
As I was walking into the high school this morning, I could see how torn up the roof is from them tearing it open. Sounds like there are also 4 to 6 classrooms that have serious water damage.

Can you imagine their insurance premiums? First the gym collapses, now the middle school takes a lightning strike. The repairs are also going to take time for a new roof.
According to one of those click bait "top ten" lists you see at the bottom of news websites, before working for Allstate the Mayhem guy was actually in some sort of accident and was "dead" on the table for some time and was resuscitated, along with losing several fingers during the ordeal; this got him the part in the TV commercials.
