Lady Hokies Take Down Elon In First Round Of WNIT

The Ladies prevailed over Elon 68-59 in a game they won going away thanks to seldom-used Rachel Camp who scored 29 points. With Vanessa Panousis still mired in a terrible slump and sitting most of this game, the slack was taken up by Camp. Sidney Cooke, Hannah Young and Megan McGarrity also came thru with double digit points.
For the life of me I don't understand Coach Wolff's manner of coaching at all. For example look at Camp's freshman synopsis from Hokie Sports:

Appeared in 32 games with 28 starts as a freshman... Earned All-ACC Academic Team Honors... Set a Virginia Tech single-game freshman scoring record with 33 points versus Western Carolina while also grabbing 11 rebounds and handing out six assists... Scored in double-digits 14 times, including seven games with 20 or more points... Averaged 11.4 points and 5.6 rebounds... Had first double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore... Had 22 points at Providence and followed up with 18 versus Old Dominion, 21 against ETSU and 21 at Florida... Also had eight rebounds against the Gators... Tallied 16 points and 13 rebounds versus Longwood... Notched 29 points and 12 boards against NC Central... Posted 23 points and seven rebounds against Virginia... Recorded 12 points and eight boards at NC State... Had 14 points and eight rebounds versus Miami... Tallied eight points and 10 rebounds against No. 8 Louisville.

She averaged 28 minutes per game last year and this year she has had her playing time cut in half. With the team so mired in a dismal slump the 2nd half of the season, I just don't get why.

The Ladies go to Ohio University on Sunday for the second round at 2:00.

Good win. Agree on Coach Wolff.

Thanks for the post and good luck ladies!

I know that they do not put fans in the seats for their games but last night was appalling. If there was more than a couple of hundred fans there, it wasn't much more. I had a whole row to myself in the choice seats. There wasn't one student in the student section and except for the pep band and cheer people, it was nada. I did see a couple of football players here and there. I've seen more fans at softball or baseball games. So sad to see a P5 team with so little support. And, even the officials seemed to be JV guys for both sides.

I understand your point about the students, but I would like to say that there were some students there (myself included). As there isn't ever really a true student section for most women games, we venture over to the courtside seats for the better view. Although, I would agree I saw less other students than normal last night.

I regularly go to the women's games, but did not attend last night. Student attendance is already pretty low when it is usually free, so I can't see $5 tickets (Where you at VT Promotions and Coach Wolff with free student tickets?) and St. Patrick's day making it much easier for students to choose the game.

VT Promotions didn't handle ticket prices/seating, that's the NIT/WNIT's call since they're sponsoring the tournament.

I think he meant where was the promotions for the game and where was the coach buying students tickets like Buzz did.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.
