2016 Professional Football Hokies

This will be the 2016 "Official" Hokie Rosters of Arena Football League, Canadian Football League and National Football League. I will try and keep it updated as best as possible. If you see an error or see a trade, signing, or any other action involving a Hokie let me know. Something new this year I am going to try and get a comprehensive list of Hokie's who are coaching college football at any level or Professional Football. Enjoy.

I so badly wanted to click on 2016 Roster etc. but no link. It was my own haste that killed Link. RIP Nintendo's greatest hero.

No links. Just my own work once those sports start filing out rosters.

There's a noticeable sense of tranquility to Victor "Macho" Harris. Even when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive back openly discusses inflicting pain on an opponent, there's a calmness to him.

"I want them to tense up because they know I'm coming," Harris, unable to hold back a smile, his arms and shoulders now formed to a hitting position just minutes into an interview at Investors Group Field, said earlier this week. "Because I'm coming.

Great read about Macho, not only his current situation but his unique recruiting visit from Beamer.

Bryan Randall was finally ready to put football in his past.

After 12 seasons wearing 12 different jerseys for teams in the NFL, the Canadian Football League and almost every imaginable sparsely populated corner of arena football, he decided earlier this spring, at 32 years old, he'd stretched his successful career as a quarterback as far as he could take it

Great write up on Randall and the new Chinese indoor league.

He's writing a behind-the-scenes book on his career at Tech. He's working at the golf course at Ford's Colony in Williamsburg. He wants to start his own football camp.

that book and that camp will both kick serious ass

I wonder when this happens does he have to consult VT? Beamer? Other players? NCAA?

He'll always be one of my favorite Hokies. I put him right up there with Tyrod as far as how much I enjoyed the years he played.

Two of the most impressive catches of Giants mini-camp in June required a double-take to identify jersey No. 88 as tight end Ryan Malleck, a rookie free-agent signing out of Virginia Tech, and a local kid born in Teaneck, who grew up down the shore in Point Pleasant rooting for the Giants and Eli Manning.

Then suddenly on Saturday's second day of training camp, Malleck, 23, was lining up on occasion with the first-team offense and Manning as his QB. He is clearly behind Larry Donnell and Will Tye on the depth chart, but he's still encouraged about the opportunity to demonstrate versatility that could help him make the team.

Great to hear. I really hope Malleck makes the team.

that rocks. thanks for the update

Great news. Seems like a great pro TE.

Wish he had been here for at lease one year under Fuente. I think it would have done wonders for his draft stock.

A commonly unfortunate and unfortunate theme for Hokies in the pros. It's a f*k-damn curse!

Final cut day for the NFL and we've sadly got out first Hokie casualty:

Teams and names to watch today. Detroit and Fuller, Kansas City and Nicholas (I think he makes roster), Washington and Painter, New York Giants Thomas and New Orleans Tapp. Those seem like only players even on cut discussion list now.

As you can tell by the list on the main post it wasn't a good cut down day for the Hokies: Tapp, Thomas, Painter, Graham, Hanson and Botkin all got final day cut.

Bummer to see so many guys cut but it just goes to show just how hard it is to make an NFL roster. Going through the list of names on all the teams, you see quite a few "name" guys from college that don't make it.

And seeing LT cut is a little sad but not surprising. While he was a solid college QB, I never felt he had the accuracy to be an NFL QB. He's got loads of physical gifts but it may be too late into his NFL career to go the Tyrelle Pryor route and move to WR (or TE given his frame)

No, he and Giants did an "injury settlement" he gets some money and can sign with someone else whenever he wants/is healed.

Is this the last year he's eligible for the practice squad?

Might be the end of the line for him if he can't drastically improve his game over this season.

I'm even wondering about his time on the practice squad. He was on the Dolphins Practice Squad for most of last year (elevated with a game or two left in the season). Now he's on the Giants practice squad this year. If he spends the whole season there, at most he has one more year before he has to make an NFL roster from here on out. Just not sure if he spent any time on the Card's PS.

F*k

Thanks for the ongoing updates with all the NFL Hokies.
All these injuries suck. Kyshon, Exum, Becton, Malleck, etc. The David Wilson injury still makes me always wonder what if...

Speaking of (and hopefully not off topic for this forum) does anyone know what Ryan Williams is up to these days? After being cut from the Cowboys last year after being put on their I.R, I haven't been able to find any updates on him. Does anyone know if he made another push this year or if he is done with football completely? One of my favorite Hokies of all time, and I always hoped he could overcome his early injuries.

FYI, Peter King gives a shoutout to Duane Brown this week in MMQB:

2. Tackle Duane Brown, Houston. Brown was the best player on the Texans offense Sunday. He allowed no sacks and one hurry of Brock Osweiler on 35 pass-blocking snaps, and his run-blocking grade ranked No. 1 among all tackles in Week 8.

To be fair, being the best player for the Texans in a given week isn't exactly setting a high bar for yourself.

Tyrod to Logan - TD!

Or maybe its Logan to Tyrod on a throwback - TD!

Tried that once but with Greg Boone and Tyrod nearly killed Ras-I-Dowling.

I doubt Exum jr shows up on this list next year. I actually wanted him to be a part time filler role when Harrison Smith got injured for the Vikings but his play just isn't NFL caliber from what I saw against Seattle and Atlanta last year, granted he had a better game against the Falcons, but he was ALWAYS getting out of position against the Seahawks. I don't see him ever making a good career in the NFL

8 Hokies finished the season on the "active roster" that's a lot of cuts, injuries and the like. Hopefully we see that number bump up 4-6 next season.

We're about to have our best draft in years regardless of where/if Evans gets taken. Should see a healthy bump.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

But how many current players Corey Fuller, Exum, Thomas are not on rosters next year so your net positive is lower?

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

We'll have to see it play out I guess. I'd say relative to the amount of players we have in the league any positive number would be pretty significant.

I think Exum winds up on his feet. He was getting good PT before he got hurt and had a decent impact.
