Rivals Camp Charlotte: VT Target Interviews

Rivals held a camp in Charlotte, NC this weekend and many VT targets were in attendance. Adam Friedman of Rivals did some interviews and I figured I would compile them all in one place below:

Khalan Laborn - 247 Profile

Teradja Mitchell - 247 Profile

Jordan Williams - 247 Profile

Billy Ross - 247 Profile

Eric Crosby - 247 Profile

Devon Hunter - 247 Profile

Jordan Williams had a great visit at Virginia Tech this weekend and talks about it a little in his interview. After hearing him speak, he moved up on my list of "wanted" recruits. Not only is he great on the field, but he was very impressive in his interview.

Impressive work. Thanks.

Yeah, Jordan Williams may be my #1 overall. Very impressive kid.

Crosby on one of the biggest factors on making his decision: "It's going to come down to the depth chart".

I'm not sure what UT's DT depth chart looks like but who has the advantage here? VT or Tennessee?

Per Tennessee's roster (http://www.utsports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/tenn-m-footbl-mtt.html):

14 DL, of these 3 r-Sr so guaranteed to be gone, 1 r-Jr, and the rest are Fr/So. Two r-So that could be eligible to leave early if they're good enough.

They don't list DT/DE separately and I don't know their roster well enough to know where they play, so that's the best I've got.

For VT, 7 DT listed, plus 2 more as DL (Mihota can do both DT/DE, as we're seeing). Baron and Williams are gone after this year. Settle, Sobczak, and Walker are the heirs apparent at DT, with Mihota mixing in.

So...push? VT depth chart looks a bit more promising, but without a Tennessee breakdown of DT vs. DE it's hard for me to say. And who knows what the coaches at each school have told him about his likelihood of playing (that's what really matters). Crosby is a top prospect; I imagine he could push for playing time at either school.

"Exit light..."

I'd say in our favor with Baron graduating as the speed dt. UT racked up some serious DT talent the last couple recruiting classes. At his talent level he could definitely get minutes freshman year if he comes in fit

It really seemed like Hunter's eyes lit up and voice perked up when he talked about VT. They way he described VT was more like talking about what will happen, and not what could happen.

Thought the exact same when I watched.

Agree with both of you, but he also said that coach Gray's move to UF is intriguing to him as well. This guy is a player, he wants to visit all of his offer university's across the nation before he makes his decision.

Hated to hear Clemson was his team growing up. Plus he's definitely looking anywhere and everywhere. West Coast, ND, and who knows who else will come into the picture during the next 7 months.
Stay in state!

Great interviews. We may not have a rivalry on the field, but it looks like we are running into one in recruiting against Tennessee.. Really hope we embarrass them in Bristol.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

VA is loaded. If VT can get these top recruits, I can picture a first National Championship trophy in Blacksburg very soon.

Allen Ox

I like our shot with Laborn, Williams Hunter and Crosby obviously. Mitchell no shot from that clip. 2 out of that group would be really really good. 3 would be amazing. More than that is unrealistic. 1 would be expected I would think. 0 would be a huge disappointment

Thanks for compiling these, BMW-Baller!
