OT: Ludacris' UGA spring game concert rider included alcohol and condoms.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/eye-on-college-football/25560332

Ludacris saved the day for Georgia by performing at the Bulldogs' spring game last Saturday after a number of country acts turned down the Dawgs. Before Georgia took the field, the Atlanta hip-hop artist performed a 15-minute medley of songs to the delight of the 93,000 in attendance at Sanford Stadium.

You might ask yourself, how much does a 15-minute Ludacris performance cost?

This is a total failure of optics for UGA.

2026 Season Challenge: TBD
Previous Challenges: Star Wars (2019), Marvel (2020), Batman (2021), Wrasslin' (2022)

included dinner for 10 people with grilled chicken, chicken wings, pasta, brown rice, mixed vegetables, fruit salad, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes

Dude's been eating healthy since his chicken n' beer days.

alcohol and condoms at what is effectively a college party?! Say it ain't so! /s

in all seriousness, the alcohol wouldn't even register with most people if it weren't his own brand and as for the condoms...well, most of us have taken health class before so we can figure that out individually.

i'd actually be surprised if VT hasn't had artists and provided them with similar lists

I'm sure the 93,000 fans were really upset that Luda asked for some booze and rubbers as part of his deal to perform for them.

Beats a bowl of only red M&Ms and goat's milk and Yak cheese, doesn't it?

Talk about a loyal fanbase, as annoying as Georgia fans can be, living pretty close to Athens, they are dedicated as hell considering they've had essentially the same season over and over again post 2005.

This is about the tamest hospitality rider for a major act I have ever seen. J Lo sets the standard, but this actually just makes me think Luda is a decent human being, assuming this is his standard rider. Plus, good on him for practicing safe sex.

How many of those riders are paid for out of public college funds? That's the issue here optics.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Probably none. I have to imagine this all came out of donors' pockets.

"Exit light..."

And this is even more absurd when you realize the VTU (Virginia Tech Union) which secures numerous concerts and events throughout the year (Fetty Wap, for example, was secured to play last week). The VTU is funded in large part through tuition and public funds, annually receiving about $350k from this pool. Those are public funds being used to secure and pay for concerts such as Ludacris.... who, ironically, I saw in concert in Burruss when I was a student.

SHIT no one told me Fetty Wap was going to be at VT. $45 for non students tho. Oh well.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

And artists always ask for these type of things. When I was in undergrad at a tiny WV school, we provided PBJs and a case a beer for a group of classical guitarists. Cocktails for a string quartet. This is just part of the game for securing people to perform at any venue.

I know Bill Cosby wrote so many things into his contract that it almost blew the VTU budget and demanded they were met or he would not come (custom sweatsuit, giant TVs for his performance, had to hang with Beamer before and after the performance, expensive items in his dressing room, etc.).

What the hell is a Fetty Wap?

On a minor sidenote: this pretty lady right now is another one of my personal faves. Ok. Carry on.

I still have a hard time getting past her character on Breaking Bad. There are just some role that seem to always stick to people.

Oh I thought she was REALLY smokin hawt in that series.

Don't get me wrong, she is a very attractive lady but her role in breaking bad makes it difficult to really wrap my arms around her in Jessica Jones. Just needed more time.

Fetty Wap performed at VT last week. I'm sure we only held him to the most honorable and morally sound of riders when we secured that performance....

The world will go on.

When was Ludacris a thing again..

Georgia must have a gotten a huge discount signing Ludacris to perform. Probably the biggest crowd he has spoken really fast to in a rhythmic way in a couple of years.

This must be a gif of him tasting his brand of "cognac"? No wonder he has to request it in riders to get someone to buy it.

I don't understand what's going on here.

What I thought would happen is we would discuss a school paying an entertainer 4,333 dollars a minute to sing at a free event and the school also paid for items that could be controversy as part of that artists rider.

Capitalism.

and the school also paid for items that could be controversy as part of that artists rider.

I believe Ludacris is over the age of 21.

Well the real travesty was getting Ludacris. You could've got someone new like Chance or Vince Staples at a better price.

He's worth way more than $4300 a minute. Can't believe you'd insult him like that.

Full disclosure, I am of the unpopular camp that we should bring back rickrolling.

I'm not saying we should all go back to Rickrolling, but that was just too good to pass up. I was also hoping I'd get Chris there.

Oh I knew it was a rick roll, so I enthusiastically clicked it and basked in its glory.

I'm guessing it's something he held onto from childhood?

Well if we're going to go down this road...

I think Ludacris is a safe choice from the rap department given his deep ties to Georgia and his long-standing status in the entertainment industry.

Vince doesn't necessarily make the kinda music well-off white folks from Georgia want to listen to haha. And Chance is my f'in guy, but neither make as much sense as Luda for UGA.

It would have been better if he had demanded that everyone in the stands gets beer and condoms. Athens would have been rockn that night.

Two things jump out to me off:

  1. This is fucking hilarious.
  2. The option for UGA to pay $40 per person for his crew instead of providing them dinner - this is a fucking steal. When I travel for work, the client must be prepared to pay up to $60/person/day - more if in a major city.
